Unless I'm mistaken, a few of the elements that made the first Matrix "mind blowing" were "innovative technology/application" (for example bullet time and essentially recreating scenes from the Ghost In The Shell anime) and being "sleek". As awesome as Reloaded and Revolutions were, the two were pretty much "bloated" compared to TM. The aforementioned elements could be applied to the next movie and make it "mind blowing", IMO. Of course it could just be bs and no matter what the next movie won't be considered as "mind blowing" as the first Matrix because...rEaZonS.

Impossible to re-create. Not only was it a brilliant movie, but having never seen before special effects was only part of it's hype. The whole "what is the matrix?" They used in their marketing for the movie gave it such an element of mystery that it added another level for the viewer.

My hopes for this one: 1. Neo with short hair and shaved face 2. Hugo Weaving's Smith vs. Jonathan Groff's Smith 3. Trinity flying 4. Faster reflexes for fight scenes 5. Exploring the city of IO 6. Kid's return as an old man 7. Visiting the graves of people who died including the Battle of Zion, including Mifune 8. Flashbacks during the time gap in between Revolutions and Resurrections, with Laurence Fishburne's return as Morpheus 9. Maybe a scene where someone in IO, raising a good Sentinel like a pet. 10. Payoffs to ceratin lines the characters have said. 11. "As long as the Matrix exists, the human race will never be free." Will the Matrix be destroyed at last?

I think Matrix 5 should ask the question if living in a virtual reality controlled by both man and machine is better than a life in reality. A movie where the matrix is actually at peace but Neo must decide if humanity is better off in the simulation or without it. The story ends with him ending the matrix for good, or continuing it... Cipher was always my favourite character, I actually understand why he'd choose the fantasy life "I know what you're thinking, why oh why, didn't I take the blue pill!" It could also mock Warner Bros for wanting to continue the franchise, like we saw in Resurrections. I really hope this new video game ties into the actual story somehow and isn't just a "the game of the movie" type of deal

I am worried, but excited by this news, it’s unfortunate that the wachowskis wont direct. Lana being involved as executive producer (which can mean a lot of influence, or no influence at all depending on the production) is promising. I think they should explore a previous One or the one after Neo, and bring back the visual language and breathtaking action.

It's OK that the Wachos are not directing anymore. One of them doesn't even seem to be interested in directing anymore and Lana showed us with Resurrections that she lost inspiration or the motivation necessary to make a true good Matrix movie (instead of some meta selfaware movie about how Hollywood sucks). It's OK artists can lose their mojo as they get old, not everyone is like Kubrick. However the Wachos have always been very good as executive producers only with movies like V for Vendetta or the Animatrix so there's hope. Although after Matrix 4, I will not be hyped again for Matrix 5. If it turns out to be good it will be a pleasant surprise.

First thing I did was to check the date to make sure this video wasn't released on April Fool's Day. I really didn't expect this. Well, I am looking forward to seeing the direction of this new movie. I am a little concerned that it is not being written by either of the Wachowskis. However, I feel like the original trilogy and also Resurrections said everything that initially they (Original Trilogy) and Lana (OT and Resurrections) wanted to say with their films. Having Lana on as executive producer will hopefully result in this movie still remaining true to the spirit of the franchise, although I expect it will go in a new direction. "Wachowski Matrix" feels complete. Matrix by other people has potential. I don't expect it to be as good as the originals or as "meta" as Resurrections, but at least it will hopefully be a respectable continuation of the wonderful and complex world of The Matrix franchise.

I thought 4 explained itself. The studio was going to make a movie one way or another, so a bunch of people involved in the originals, or otherwise close to the Wachowskis, collected a fat paycheck to make a movie that explained its reason for being made, and was perfectly (presumably deliberately) executed to be too bad to be good unironically, yet not bad enough to be good ironically, or get rejected by the studio.

It's pretty common knowledge Wachowskis didn't want to make another Matrix but Warner Bros said they would do it with or without them. So they accepted just to troll it, there's literal signs throughout the movie... like at the start signs saying "For those who love to eat shit" and another saying it's shit in Spanish. The whole thing is a joke to them, even the cast knew it was a joke and didn't agree to do the movie but the Wachowskis convinced them. Warner Bros are so pissed about it but legally can't take action, so all they can do is sideline Wachowskis and get someone else to write and produce it and hope they can salvage it. It will still fail though, unfortunately it won't be a hilarious troll this time.

I want sequels. But, I want them to be meaningful, not just sarcastic cashgrabs. Don't get me wrong. I like the new one. But... It didn't have the soul. It took a few hours for this to sink in and allow myself to get excited. While I absolutely liked resurrections, we can probably all agree something about it feels “different” and it walks to the very edge of breaking the diegetic world the trilogy created. This is the best thing that could happen. When someone says “it’s not hyperbole that The Matrix changed my life…” I can only imagine how much the people who watch this channel can relate to that. The fact that someone with experience adapting hi concept sci-fi (the Martian), a well written meta genre film (cabin in the woods), and incredibly well done action storytelling (daredevil Netflix) is taking on this project… that bodes well… VERY WELL. Lana Wachowski as an executive producer ensures the film will be “canon” and fingers crossed if her involvement can encourage Chad Stahelski to come back and do the fight choreography this could be what we’ve all believed in for so long.

The underlying concepts of the original Matrix movie (and parts of the 2 original sequels) still have the potential to build a great new movie on...but the recent Resurrections sequel has to be binned imo. The Wachowskis may still have some good ideas but they cannot write a cohesive or compelling sequel...so I'm glad a new director and new writers are being brought in to do the next movie. The fundamental choice overall will be to decide whether to continue with Neo's story as the central protagonist or to bring in a brand new central character as 'the One' and essentially reboot the original...calling on some familiar narratives that made that film successful while bringing in some new twists. I think the 'reboot' version would be the best way to go. Neo's storyline was already spoiled in many ways by the 2 original sequels...but the original movie is still highly regarded. To recreate it would be the least risky strategy. Those familiar with the Matrix universe already know that Neo was a variation of 'the one'...and I think it could be acceptable to acknowledge he wasn't the ultimate liberator of humankind...but he did manage to negotiate some kind of deal with the machines that was further than anyone else beforehand managed. That deal hasn't been fully explored. Resurrections went the wrong way imo by presenting Neo as accepting a type of exile in return for some protection for humankind...but this left so many unanswered questions and complications... Instead...a new base narrative could be that in exchange for allowing the machines/architect to reboot the Matrix and keep 90% of humankind in captivity, Neo was able to secure some kind of independence for Zion and the other 10% of humans...untouched by the machines and unconnected with the Matrix. Neo's body could be kept in Zion...but in stasis...and he lives in a part of the Matrix akin to the architect...to make sure the protection of Zion is maintained. With that as a base context...the new Matrix movie could focus on the emergence of a new 'one'...in the same way that Neo emerged. This could set up a really interesting situation whereby Neo himself is forced by the terms of the deal he made with the architect to act as the new Agent Smith to quell the emergence of this new protagonist...in order to protect Zion. The first film would be a general reboot of the original Matrix but with the new 'one' escaping Neo at the end...and potentially this sets up a sequel which concentrates on the growth of the new 'one' combined with the crisis of conscience Neo has between protecting what he has or taking the risk of believing the new 'one' can do what he couldn't and defeating the machines totally. This split narrative would lead to battles between the new 'one' and Neo...but those fights - much like the relationship Darth Vader had with Luke Skywalker in Star Wars - would involve Neo beating up the new 'one' but not killing him...instead trying to convince him to not upset the status quo. But as things develop we would see Neo himself come round to supporting the new 'one' and sacrificing himself to allow the ultimate defeat of the machines. I know this is a rough description...but it creates a 2 movie package that introduces a new cast while still keeping Keanu Reeves in a role that expands over the 2 movies...and ultimately gives us a final Hollywood ending where humans emerge victorious!

As much as I enjoy Neo and Trinity, I hope they get far away from that last movie. Let them be nothing but Easter eggs or minor cameos if they need to be anything. I don't want them to go too far back, but the idea of at least seeing the heaven and hell matrix is exciting. So, maybe one of the first iterations after those two.
