January 31st, 1999. I was 16 years old and the first trailer for The Matrix dropped during The Super Bowl. Most amazing thing I ever saw up until that point. I went to ask my grandma if she saw the insanity I just witnessed and found her dead. I'll never forget that trailer.

Cipher was the guy they took out of The Matrix too late. They usually don't pull people out past puberty, but there's some Easter eggs in the film that let you know he was an adult when they took him out. That might be why he wanted to go back in. I think once you're past a certain age, you can rationalize staying in the simulation.

I’m curious is it stated they avoid pulling adults out? I can get why but I never recall seeing anything explicitly showing that the characters we see outside have been free since they were children? Is that the oracles role to be the interface for all children waking up? I don’t recall Trinity, Morpheus, Tank, Niobi….ever mentioning coming to reality as a child.

I was so happy to hear Paris tell the trivia about Keanu's kicks! I learned that a few years ago when I broke my neck in an accident and required 2 vertibrae to be fused. I had always dreamed of learning martial arts and thought that had been shattered. I learned about keanu learning all of his MA training for matrix in a neck brace after he had fusion surgery and that helped me through recovery. I wasnt doing training through my recovery, but knowing someone had been through something similar and achieved a similar goal was inspiring!

The Oracle tells Neo that the one can't be told that they are the one, they have to discover it themselves. Then she says to Neo "You already know what I'm going to tell you" To which Neo says "I'm not the one" And she says "Sorry kiddo, you got the gift, but it looks like you're waiting for something." Never does she tell him that he's not the one, she just confirms for him that he doesn't believe he's the one.
@jwm1444

I don't even think it's a confirmation that he doesn't believe he's the one. I think she meant "No you ARE The One, and I know you don't want to be." Which is why she says later that she hates giving good people bad news.

Some people are saying The Dark Knight has the best ending, and I think it definitely has one of, if not THE, best ending monologues ever. But visually, when you see Neo fly towards the screen high up in the sky, it was a WTF moment to cap a movie filled with them. Neo could fly. The implications of what that could mean for future possible films blew people's minds, that is only tainted because of what actually came after, even though I like Reloaded.

If memory serves, the original script had the machines using humans as processors instead of batteries. The producers made them change it because the producers were afraid people wouldn't understand why human brains could be used in such a way. I also heard a fan theory that said the machines enslaved humanity because the laws of robotics prevented them from killing us.
@furrybproductions
@furrybproductions 2 жыл бұрын
That's EXACTLY what the humans were being used for. Costs to much energy to keep a human for harvesting energy, lol. I heard a theory that the war hasn't ended, that Zion is a small subset of humanity who were forced into a Pseudo Matrix underground and the machines are still fighting the humans above ground, outside of both The Matrix and the Pseudo Matrix, and the machines are using the processing power of humans to try to figure out how they work so they can win the war.

My parents showed me this movie way too young and the only way they allowed it was if I watched the behind the scenes VHS to show me that it was all fake. It's what made me fall in love with movies. 7:43 Totally agree Nick. This is one of the best endings to a film I have ever seen. The ending of Se7en, the OG Halloween, The Usual Suspects, and Brick are in the top 5 for me.

Something not covered by the guys here is how much the Wachowskis were influenced by anime and how they wanted to represent that in the action, and it really shows. Whenevr you think of a shot in an action sequences in this film you think to yourself "that's anime af." People often ask if we're ever gonna get a good live action adaptation of anime and don't realize we already did 20 years ago.

On the topic of why they use humans as batteries instead of animals, apparently in the original script the idea was to use humans as computational processors instead. Using the human brain to crunch more information. However the studio was concerned that the average audience member wouldn't understand that idea so they made them change it to the power idea instead

I'm not a nit picky guy, this is a slam on me and my comprehension. But I knew right away, as soon as Nick said "Vis a vis" that he was talking about the Architect, that meeting with the Source was the climax of Reloaded. That's kind of sad that I knew that RIGHT off the top of my head. But I NEVER ONCE picked up on the whole thing behind "the informant is real" and Cypher was tipping them off to kill whoever was on the shift and then found out it was Trinity and started bugging out. I had no idea. Good call, guys.
