We leased a CX-90 PHEV the month the $7,500 lease loophole was embraced by Mazda Financial Services (August 2023). The Trump administration will almost certainly close the loophole for Elon.

Your Elon derangement syndrome is showing.
@Offensively-normal11 күн бұрын
Why bring Elon into it? Some would argue taxpayers should not have put the bill in the first place. Some would argue that prices just increased to cover the credit. Personally, I think the government should stay out of Private industry altogether. If you ever hear someone say; I am from the government. I am here to help. Close the door.

Mazda should've brought over the CX-60. The 70/90 are far too large for most people. I currently drive a CX-30 Carbon Edition and my only complaint is that there wasn't a hybrid option with 200 HP and 50 MPG. I feel like Mazda should've worked on a CX-30 hybrid rather than pursuing the MX-30 EV and CX-90/70 plug-in imo

Just get a 2025 camry or civic hatch hybrid. Mazda ain't making a hybrid small car for a long time 😊

Too big, yet not enough room compared to segment competition. It's a Grand Highlander outside, but Highlander inside.

While the CX70 would be more of an aspirational vehicle for me, I think this would fit my life very well. A bigger vehicle that would be good for long drives, but also gets me to work, the grocery store, and the gym without using much if any fuel since I live just a few miles away from anything I would likely need to drive to on a daily basis. I can see why the electric range doesn't make sense for many, but this would be great for my daily commute.

CX-70 PHEV is an excellent lease. We recently leased at $303 a month, with $0 DAS. 10% off MSRP + incentives, 24 months is the sweet spot.
@aeroman523910 күн бұрын
Yes, the 24-mth lease is the sweet spot. A relative just leased a CX-70 PHEV Premium in CO at the end of 2024, as CO was reducing the EV state rebate to $3,500 (from $5,000) in 2025. Came out to just over $15k in incentives. $0 down, w/TTL at signing.

CX-70 is such a missed opportunity. To appeal for people who likes Mazda’s stylish design, Mazda could’ve style the heck out of it by making the rear sleeker and make the front fascia more aggressive. As someone who worked for Mazda Japan and had 4 Mazdas in the states, it is a disappointment as well as their CX-50.

Mazda USA should have released Mazda CX60, and BT50 with 3.3L engine.

What don't you like about the 50? Doing research and it seems like a competitive option, esp the hybrid so I'd appreciate hearing some downsides.

Another good review! Your reviews have helped put Mazda ON my radar for when I eventually go car shopping again, but not for this one. 5,200 pounds? WOW!! I think the cost of reinforcing my driveway makes this model too expensive for me! I'm looking forward to updates on YOUR next Mazda purchase!

Happy to hear that! The CX-70 is a bit too bloated for my tastes too. The MX-5 has been ordered, now I’m just waiting for an allocation😎 I’m excited but happy to not have it during the salty winter.

My local Honda dealer offers $299 per month (Tax included and 1 st year registration and no fees) for 24 months lease of a 2024 Prologue EX with no money down.

Dumb question but is this car good if you can't plug in every day? Like is it competitive as a non-plug in hybrid?
@Realistick12 күн бұрын
I wouldn't buy the PHEV without the leasing incentive if you aren't charging on most nights. It's fine as a hybrid but the efficiency will be close to that of the Inline 6, which sounds better and feels more like a luxury car's engine. With the lease incentive, I'd probably go PHEV, regardless of my charging situation, the deal outweighs my desire inline 6 goodness.

I desperately want that drivetrain in a sub-3500 lb compact wagon/hatchback. I have two 2018 Mazda 3's and an NC Miata. A new Mazda 3 with the 2.5 Skyactiv-G Hybrid setup would be absolutely perfect for me. I prefer naturally aspirated engines, therefore I don't want the current Mazda 3 turbo, and I want even better mpg than the 28-38 mpg I get currently. Oh well, I can keep dreaming.

PHEVs can make sense without incentives. Realistically though, I think PHEVs don't make much sense and are propped up by a combo of incentives and consumer belief that they're the best of both worlds. Aside from places with high fuel costs and without charging infrastructure, PHEV is a dubious bet without incentives. Best case scenario if doing the research to take full advantage of PHEV is drivers MIGHT save some money. The other advantages of PHEVs such as EV-like acceleration can be had with regular hybrids. PHEVs also mean needing a garage charger and having to constantly plug in. I wish PHEVs would take advantage of their battery to offer unique capabilities, i.e. run on gas first and save the battery for Camp Mode or Dog Mode. EV-like features combined with ICE range/refueling would make PHEVs compelling. Right now they're just gamble to save money and a dubious one at that.

The Motormouth Canadian channel criticized this vehicle for a rough shifting transmission and less comfortable front seats. The fuel economy is mediocre once the battery switches to hybrid mode because it uses a more traditional 6 speed transmission instead of an E-CVT that Toyota uses. Consumer Reports reliability rating is mediocre too, perhaps because of the transmission, clutch issues.
@Realistick12 күн бұрын
Transmission can be clunky but the seats aren't bad, especially compared to some other Mazda SUVs (though this matter is a bit subjective). I was getting 30 mpg on the highway which is decent for a 5200 pound suv running on regular fuel. First year of the CX-90 was rough and I went through those details (and more) in this video if you had the chance to watch it before writing a comment about what others said...

Yeah i love dropping 30k on a car i can only drive for 40k miles over 3 years that i will never get to keep. Leasing is such a robbery
@Realistick13 күн бұрын
$25k** You’re simply financing the first 3 years of depreciation. You can buy the rest of it at the end if you want. If you bought a $60k car, added in the taxes, interest and accounted for the depreciation, you’d spend more than $25k😕 It’s the sad truth of buying expensive cars. No easy way around it, even with $7500 off
@gcasillas121312 күн бұрын
@Realistick Do you happen to know if the $7,500 credit is rolled over to the buyout price if you choose to buyout the lease at the end?
@enmass9012 күн бұрын
@@gcasillas1213yes. The tax credit shows up as a cap cost reduction. It’s like you adding an additional $7500 down payment minus taxes.
@Ethan2xm8512 күн бұрын
Well to be fair, if you bought the car, it would lose $30k or more of it's value anyway and now you'd be stuck holding the finance note. At least with leasing you can walk away without being upside down. Trust me, being upside down in your car is far worse than taking the depreciation hit.

There are some great lease incentives out there for EV'S AND hybrids. I am a huge Mazda fan, but the CX-70 is a pointless 'model' this should have been a 3rd row delete option on the CX-90.

These cars have been having issues According to reviews and reports, the Mazda CX-90 PHEV has primary issues with its transmission, experiencing jerky shifting, strange noises at low speeds, hesitation when transitioning between EV and hybrid modes, and a lack of smooth, linear acceleration, with some owners noting that the transmission may improve slightly over time but still not be ideal; additionally, some have reported concerns about the car's software with potential issues like unexpected speed reduction and false braking detections in certain situations. Key points about the CX-90 PHEV issues: Transmission concerns: Jerky shifts, unusual noises at low speeds, hesitation during mode transitions, and abrupt shifts in EV mode. Software related issues: Potential for unexpected speed reduction due to faulty lane detection, false braking activation from misinterpreted reflections. Driving feel: Some owners report a lack of smooth acceleration, particularly when transitioning from electric to gasoline power. Potential for recalls: Mazda has issued recalls for certain CX-90 models due to software issues affecting dashboard electrical supply units and potential loss of drive power.

Who cares about handling in this big of a car, really? I don't know why Mazda mixed up the priorities in here. And why do they need to have another SUV in the line up? Bring the Mazda 6 back instead!

Epic Mazda's failure. First, they created an oversized behemoth called CX-90. Then they removed two seats and brought the same behemoth to the market calling it CX-70. So many people were waiting for something bigger than CX-5 but smaller than CX-90 but Mazda didn't listen. I am seeing that CX-70 thing being discontinued in a year or so. Good luck Mazda. Start listening.
