The Meelick Team/Josie's Visit Jigs on an old Generation Eb

This is a set from the Baltimore Ceili Band days, courtesy Billy McComiskey and the late Brendan Mulvihill. Eddie Kelly, fiddler of Oriel winner in 1972 and native of Meelick, Eyrecourt, Co. Galway, wrote the first jig in honor of the team from his homeland to enter the first All Ireland hurling finals in 1884. Brendan Tonra wrote the second jig to honor his sister, Josie's, visit to America. I picked up this whistle 40 years ago, from Ted's Music Shop in Baltimore, after playing nearly every instrument in the box and thoroughly annoying the owners.

What a wonderful demonstration of a class vintage whistle in the hands of a class vintage whistler! (Only kidding 😉). My Generation Eb sounds like I’m strangling a vole. Great stuff Frank 👍
