Exactly the level of detail I enjoy! More of that! :-)

The 2 dislikes are from the manufacturer of those stupid, bullshit plastic radiators that cost 5x more than a standard radiator, and cannot be repaired.

Interesting content! I have some doubts about the fluid dynamics explanations though. The Reynolds range where Von Karman vortex appears is quite tight and low (515 if I remember correctly) and I honestly think that an even and laminar upstream field is mandatory to see it, don't you think this would be quite unlikely into a cooler duct downstream of the stone guard meshes and with such a dense tubes distribution? Where did you get these info from? I'm interested into understanding more!

I was involved in one of these projects. Depending on your expansion before the radiator you can get into the Reynolds range where Karman vortex appears. And even if you are not exactly in that range in certain situations, you will still get a turbulent flow which mixes the air and helps to increase cooling performance compared to a traditional radiator.

Do you know what manufacturers sell micro tube radiators heat exchangers and intercooler cores?
@BSport3203 жыл бұрын
It's Mezzo Technologies in US. They were also the partner Ferrari worked with.

PWR Australia make them. You can also make them yourself, but it is very expensive.

Making a micro tube liquid to air and heat exchanger for an experimental helicopter. Packing in 1500 tubes into a 100mm diameter tube is a bit of work. It is far more efficient. The smaller the tube, the thinner the wall can also be. 2k worth of tubes for a barrel intercooler that is only 250mm long. About 10 times more expensive than what is offered commonly.

does ferrari still use them? i thought it will be a gamechanger in 2014 but i hardly ever heard of these radiators ever again.
@BSport3202 жыл бұрын
I haven't seen it in F1 for some years. It's hard to get them reliable because you need to seal so many of these tiny micro tubes, which can also bend at higher pressure if they are not installed properly. But if they work, they have huge advantages.

heya, so can you do an analysis on all of the known toyota gr super sport road car prototypes? You can skip over the drivers being seated too high in the lemans debut version because that one was modified to have less headroom so they can transport the trophy easier.

I wonder if this would be useful in water cooled computers
