For those who don’t know , do not being doing this on your own , these battery packs in hybrid/electric cars are deadly , mechanics in franchise garages have hours of training before attempting what he has done , never touch an orange cable until the system has been disabled.

There’s a master switch on top of these packs , me and my dad pulled one out of our insight to k swap it, just flip it off and use some welding gloves and youre all good everything is made in a way so that you won’t get shocked while working on it

The engine, catalytic converters, 02 sensors, and battery are worth some money to the insight fanatics, I would sell them to offset the build cost. you may want to make the axle wider at the rear, the rear wheels track a little inside the front wheels, it makes the insights unstable in rain and other conditions. There should be just enough room to keep the wheel covers stock if you choose

Crazy project, what I would have liked to see before you started this would have been to strip the battery, inverter, electric motor and everything else not needed on the EV side and see how good it would operate simply with the gas engine. If I remember right that is a 3 cylinder 67 hp. With that light of a car would seem like it would work pretty good and still get great gas MPG. Maybe the gearing would need to be changed for optimum function. Also I imagine in places where a vehicle needs yearly emissions testing, the machine might or would probably say FAIL. But, if your in rural places they often don't require emissions testing.
