i was live at the show. His research is mindblowing. The locals literally spit out their drinks during some jokes and the energy was insane. I didnt get much of the jokes because i am from europe. But the jokes about the locals lasted only about 10-15 minutes then he went on with his „normal jokes“. Genius.

Schulz is actually an academic comedian, within a day of each location he's gonna do his stand up at , he'll have a solid 10 minutes full of jokes specifically for the country he's in. Jokes that you have to be a local to understand or even come up with, his prep time and confidence with untested material. Insane

It doesn't come across genuine to me. I get how it feels great to have your culture and country mentioned and supposedly understood by a famous comedian, but it felt like he was reading a script and this "crowd work" didn't come across genuine. I understand stand up is scripted mostly, but still when doing crowd work I think comics should be more natural in that. Now that's just my subjective opinion here.
