What I’ve always found so lovely about Nick in this episode is that he still really doesn’t have any idea what his sexuality really is. He took one of those nonsensical online quizzes that really didn’t give him a concrete answer, and he hasn’t talked to anyone about it yet to help figure it out. But what he is certain of is that he likes Charlie, and he’s not pulling away from those feelings. In fact, he’s leaning into his feelings. One of my favorite moments in the entire three seasons is that scene in the bowling alley when Nick says to Charlie “I really like you”. it still makes me choke up 3 1/2 years later.

The date isn't actually double-booked, it's just unrealistically tight. They meet at the bowling alley at 4pm (Tao mentions this), so Nick could conceivably have attended that event and then met Imogen for dinner about 8. So it would've been possible to do both -- just bizarrely rushed.

The thing you need to understand about the relationship between Tao and Elle is that they were best friends before Elle transitioned when she was still a boy so Tao still sees her as just a best friend, although this may change in future episodes
