I feel like more of the reason for the delayed release is that Minecraft's lore is something that players are supposed to figure out and interpret for themselves, and that making a movie would require revealing some of that lore.

@@Mantixionid argue ever since like 1.14 Every new update that has some sort of new structure/mob is usually tied with some hidden lore that you have to uncover... i mean the archaeology update is literally that. Pillager vs villager etc etc

@@TACTIK00L I feel like this is my point exactly. There is a lot of lore in Minecraft where it's up to the player to interpret how they may on their own time. The totem of undying in woodland mansions, the ankh on desert temples, the sherds in trail ruins, they all point towards a central message, although this message is widely disputed. This brings a lot of hype to Minecraft, which would be thrown away if Mojang were to explicitly state the lore.

I will say that in regards to Minecraft being a live-action, I think with this, personally, it won't do well, just knowing the state of film in general seem to be going very badly at the moment. BUT. That being said, I was very die-hard that MC and live action would never work well. Search up "Dawn Minecraft Film", or something to that effect. It's a short film, but it actually looks surprisingly good (and there isn't speaking at all).

It would be interesting to see Jack Black as Steve. Not sure how that'll turn out. Curious if they'll use his real life look or have him looking very differently. Also, I didn't even know there was a tetris movie...

I feel like the film should center on the nostalgia we have towards the game. My concept for the film centers on the seasoned, steak-loving and sarcastic adventurer Steve who spends his days residing in his own city, all by himself. Despite playing into the belief that he has everything he ever needs, his daily basis consists of mining, crafting, collecting as many resources as possible, then going to sleep, and repeat. His life has been tainted with boredom after his friends disappeared many years prior. Now he is fatigued, in search of some sort of aim, but is held back by his resentment towards the world because it is changing. The textures of blocks shifting in appearance, mobs differing in appearances, mobs and blocks being added… his only wish is for the world to revert to how it used to be before there’s nothing left of what the world was like back then. Back when he had his friends. Back when he was happy. However, his stasis in this world will soon change when a group of adventurers raid his city, ignite it with TNT and fire, and worst of all, respawn the Ender Dragon. Thus leading Steve into losing everything he has left. And from here on, a grand adventure of epic proportions begins when Steve is coerced into a starting a new life from scratch after uniting with a bright-eyed, yet naive dirt-house inhabitor named Alex, alongside the sassy, meat and belly rub loving dog, Dinnerbone. These adventurers must navigate through the changes of the world and find a way to thwart the Ender Dragon from a complete Overworld takeover, while also accepting that things will always change and that’s not a bad thing. It’s a good thing. It’s beautiful. Even though past memories may not be able to be experienced again, there’s always opportunities to create new ones.

yes so basically take the lore from minecraft legends and use it to make a movie. this could easily be done in animation but i don't really see how they can make live action work. hopefully they will surprise us but probably not though.

To be honest, i hope the Minecraft would be kind of a recreation of the beginning of Minecraft. Kind of like one of the recent The Game Theorist videos of the whole Minecraft plot. How it started as builders who ruined the land, left the ender dragon, as like as a backstory before a player joined and went through a whole adventure.

I'd rather they make a final minecraft story mode season but use that game to explain the actual lore of minecraft. They can use characters like steve and alex and properly explain the hidden messages. Or the movie should have been animated. A live action makes no sense.

Make it like a period piece. Period pieces take place in historical times but don’t go too hard into it. However, the atmosphere changes entirely. All you need is a coming of age story, or a story of friendship, caught and captured in the world of Minecraft

There was one episode series that made it perfect, Minecraft story mode, an episodic series that’s based off of the Minecraft game, it was truly the best story ever, and trying to recreate lightning in a bottle is no easy task!

Whatever they do with the live action problem, narratively, I hope they do something like Minecraft Story Mode in the sense that the plot is unique with interesting references to each aspect of the game (such as redstone) and hopefully it’s not gonna be as simple as “kill the Enderdragon” but maybe someone like Herobrine could be the real villain and try to take advantage of Steve to do everything for him. I’m just throwing ideas, what do you guys think?
