Some people seem to be a bit confused about what im saying in this video: I wasn't saying that canonically the miraculous heals them in their superhero form. With the exception of their eyes, nothing else gets healed. This is one big "what if" scenario. WHAT IF the miraculous can heal you while you are a hero and you only feel sick as a civilian? That's the thought experiment I'm going with here. X3 And yes, im aware that I forgot to mention Gabriel, Nino, and Sabrina who also wear glasses. Gabriel and Sabrina kind of prove my point regardless. And Nino goes into the same ambiguous category as Max where their vision MIGHT be fixed, but it's hard to say.

@@soaringraven0 If this was a math equation I would say you’re correct but in the context of a super power and as a physical change it works a bit differently if I were to cut a cake in half it would be the exact opposite of doubling the amount of cakes. Another this is that when the mouse miraculous is used the clones get smaller the more there are of them and this isn’t an optional ether there’s a scene in the show where polymouse only splits into 2 and she still shrinks. Ya I guess you could say that the power is multiplication but the user gets smaller the more clones you make but wouldn’t be simpler and make more sense to call the power division.

I think you'd have to be REALLY careful about the "healing disabilities" and "evil disabled person" thing. There are a lot of disabled people whom that could really hurt. I do like the idea of like a person with terminal cancer trying to use the healing power of the miraculous. That could be a really cool almost foil to Master Fu, who was functionally immortal as the guardian of the miraculous.

I think “acting as an aid” or “treating” might better suit what she’s describing for the most part anyway Not so much as getting rid of disabilities completely & instantaneously as being a tool you can use to allow yourself to function differently & provide a temporary boost that trains your body to preform better in future. I heard that originally, as was actually part of one of earlier concepts for Adrien, that he would rely on a cane in his civilian form, only for it to become his baton as Cat Noir. However, as part of said rumor, the creators decided against it because they felt they could not handle writing the disability respectfully, and it was a smart choice. Having the Miraculous healing ailments does raise the stakes, but it can also cross over into very ableist tropes, so they decided to avoid the subject.

Marvel had a similar thing happen with Jane Foster as Thor. In civilian form, she was battling cancer. When she turned into Thor, she felt strong and healthy, but the transformation erased any progress made to her condition, so transforming back to Jane worsened her illness.

Yeh I'm with you on the fact the miraculous containing healing properties is a great concept that like most things in this show are either underutilized to a almost hair pulling frustration degree or just food for thought to keep the viewers guessing. But may I propose a 4th thought regarding the healing abilities. What if the kwami's themselves are still unaware of all that they are capable of and require the holders of the miraculous to bring out that side of them. Example in this case I'll use Trixx and Alya. Overtime with the two sharing such a strong bond, Alya would realize her vision is slowly recovering thus it would mean she doesn't need the glasses anymore. Just a thought that popped into my head just a few moments ago.

😎 You know, I actually really like the twin Nathalie scenario. Part of it may be because of how much I liked the episode "Ladybug" and the concept of a sentimonster wanting to forge their own identity outside of just a temporary clone of someone, so seeing something like that in a larger arc throughout the show would've been cool (I'm willingly ignoring everything with the canon Agreste and Tsurugi sentis because the writing there was a mess and also I clocked out of the show as soon as season 5 started xD) And gosh, imagine how much more appealing and complex Lila would've been as an antagonist if her origin story had been something like this and not just "Oh no, Ladybug made me look bad in front of a cute boy I met like yesterday, I SHALL HAVE MY REVEEEEEENGE!!" 😝😝😂😂

I know LoreQueen on Discord and she's been hyping up this upcoming video as her character was being featured as the art piece! You drew her OC beautifully! This is also a really interesting discussion on the properties of the Miraculous. This is something that tends to happen in Pretty Cure as well; there aren't many Cures who wear glasses in their civilian forms, but notably with Ako Shirabe and Minori Ichinose, who wear glasses on the regular, their glasses vanish/are discarded and they can still see well enough to fight. It could be simply for a practical reason so that they are able to fight without hindrance, but it'd be interesting to see more hero/magical girl forms incorporate glasses as a part of the uniform/costume.

I always assumed that the masks functioned as glasses, Mayura’s different coloured eyes being more like contacts ig. This made me realize though, since miraculous do have the power to increase things like strength, agility & speed; things like eyesight, immune system & serotonin levels might also count as “stats” they can optimize! Although I think the wearer would have to consider it a “stat” or not consider it a strong part of their identity or something considering Carapace still seems to have glasses & Chat Noir still has allergies (allergies being a really interesting case if we pretend the writers thought abt this for a second since allergies can be medicated, sometimes cured/lessened by exposure therapy or even just “grown out of” in some cases, in other words they’re something much more “curable” than eyesight) It’d be super cool, miraculous even, to see more examples of how they affect people!!! I have so many possibilities swimming through my brain rn!!!

I definitely think that the miraculouses only cure a person *as long as they're transformed* and then simply undoes what it did after turning back. The peacock miraculous being damaged caused it to not only inflict its damage to its wearer but we also see in a few episodes (Miraculer comes to mind) that even as Mayura, Nathalie is still sick and getting progressively weaker. Alternatively, they could've pulled something similar to what the W.i.t.c.h. comics did, have every transformation slightly heal their bodies until eventually any damages (such as poor eyesight) are permanently healed. In another world where Miraculous is a show with good writing, we may have had the chronically ill person wanting all the miraculouses plot line for ROSE! She DOES chronically have a chronic illness AND gets to wield a miraculous! Having the sweet and gentle Rose become a villain after realizing that becoming Pigella cures her would be a major plot twist.

The lack of glasses on super hero forms is definitely good to point out, and I have wondered in the past if the two of them have contacts incorporated into their transformations to make it easier to fight and better hide their identities. With Max using the horse Miraculous he never had to worry about it, but Nino incorporated goggles into his costume to replace his glasses.

Really interesting take. It makes sense for the miraculous to have healing factors and I always thought it was like a "Super Saiyan" kind of thing where it can cure certain conditions like how Gohan doesn't need his glasses when he transforms. They should of probably gone into more detail to explain in the show lol. 😎

in my AU, Miraculouses doesn't heal disabilities but accommodates for them, the glasses being magically attached to the users face like the masks are, prosthetic limbs functioning properly regardless of action, mute people being able to give commands ie, transformation, detransformation, summoning powers, etc.

I think the last idea you gave falls into problematic ableist tropes. Even though this is something I noticed I've put glasses in any OC designs I did since I got mine just because it forces some creativity. For example I had a bunny miraculous OC whose design was deliberately heavily referential of sailor moon (because her civilian name) and I had a normal miraculous-type mask with sailor moon's OG mask in red (for contrast) as glasses.

I love how you went in-depth about how Alya and Nathalie wear glasses, while ignoring that Nino, Gabriel, and Sabrina all do to. In fact, in the wise words of Miracle Queen, “For a moment there I thought you only had to wear glasses to get a miraculous.” Anyway, your idea for Lila is amazing. If she was actually sick and not just faking, desperate for akuma and miraculous powers to ease her pain…hell, it would even build up her resentment for Hawk Moth/Monarch better than season 5, if she was constantly begging him to akumatize her to the point where he just stopped since she wasn’t winning and he had better things to do. I legit forgot about Sabrina, and I forgot Gabe wore them too. They add to my theory tho since they lose their glasses upon transformation. As for Nino, he's wearing goggles as Carapace (though I admittedly forgot about him too). The goggles may be prescription, or they might be for show, similarly to Max's situation. We'll honestly never know. This video is just me overthinking things lol And thank you 🩷✨

The excuses are funny, especially the whole Nathalie is sick and therefore can't use the other miraculous. I mean a miraculous causing an illness, should be able to be counteracted by another equally powerful miraculous. It's simple power balancing and even then, Plagg is canonically stronger than Duusuu, so he should be able to heal her condition. Furthermore, Marinette and Fail Moth already showed you can use multiple miraculous without any genuine consequences. Why would this affect Nathalie at all, when she can just use another Miraculous to counteract her disease?

The Miraculous cannot heal the civilian wearing their magic jewel and activating it, they moreso imprint their natural restoring abilities once the jewel is active, which is why Alya still needs glasses, she regained her vision temporarily by the Miraculous helping her And if I am wrong then the creators really have a massive plot hole to explain

Oke, so, counter argument; I agree, but not fully. It was kinda show that Miraculous when activated, boosts the super's capabilities so they cope better with a disability or such. However, it was show time to time they still suffer from stuff, like Adrien's cut leg in Ripost, he also was very weak from Cataclysm in Miraculer, and Mayura even fainted at some point in Miracle queen. In conclusion, yes, the Miraculous boosts your abilities, wich can be considered as healing, but not makes you fully healed and healty, just more resistant to your probllem...

I don't think it's ableist unless it's being done all the time. There can be villains from all walks of life (though admittedly I forgot about Kagami's mother). If it's a continuing trend, then yes, it's problematic. I personally haven't seen this trope done that much with the media I consume. If there's a healthy balance between villains who aren't disabled and ones who are (in general, not just talking Miraculous), then there's no discrimination happening. To show that villains can come from literally anyone is pretty realistic.

People with disabilities are fed up with disabled villains and able-bodied protagonists + They are fed up with the fact that every disabled character in the narrative "Suffers" because of their disability, so they either have to die or become able-bodied (Which is a harmful trope)

i think there is a way to disproof this unfortunatlly i remember that in one or two episodes natali still had the effects of the peacock on her i think in episode i believe ladybug that longafter she created the centibug she was found and she couldnt run beacause she was sick and i think asa supervillain she would have super stamina regen so this should be enough but i personally think that they just get some concats in thier super personas they migth have a increase in durabylity but not regen for sure beacause i have proof in episode where kagami becomes akumitised for the first time adrien broke his leg and when he transformed into chat black he still had a broken leg if it worked on eyes then should as well but granted he was still able to walk and run so maybe it kinda healed it but for sure not a 100% or maybe just increased his tolerance to pain so he could run and walk but not as fast
