Sean O'Malley recently said that he will be as big as Conor McGregor when it comes to selling PPV and being a star in the UFC, this is my reaction to his trash talk and star power seeing if he will ever be a draw, let me know what you guys think in the comments section down below.

It's weird now but I feel like we actually as fans got comfortable with the idea of a million PPV sales when McGregor was around and were hoping that someone else eventually would hit that level. Once all these current 34 year old stars are gone and retired O'Malley will be the face of the UFC. I think he needs to be more composed and savage in his words on the mic, and save the goofiness for online and before fight week. If this over stacked 299 PPV doesn't sell, idk what will.

I don't think O'Malley can do the Tyson route. Fans know when someone is a fake, and being unhinged is not O'Malley's personality. People bought into Tyson's persona because it was real. A lot of McGregor’s early stardom was because of the rabid Irish backing he had prior to the ufc, and the accumulation of the core ufc viewer base slowly getting behind him with each dominant exciting win. But one thing people don’t normally talk about is how lots of his early promotion was from KZbin/Facebook/Twitter trash talk/KOs compilations in like 2013-2015. This is how mine and my brothers friends all started to know about him. What really got his name out there wasn’t mainstream media interviews on morning tv or something, or even necessarily his fights, not live and as they happened anyway, but the compilations of him either laying people out or being hilarious and entertaining. The antics on TUF, the relentless trolling of Aldo, the stare-downs, the octagon speeches, the poirier win, the siver win, the predictions, the look, the dress sense, the press conferences, etc. It all came together.

I believe the weight class is a factor as well. Conor fighting at 155 and 170 made him more relatable to the general public. At 135 pounds, which was almost the lowest weight class, there were considerations about removing the flyweight division not too long ago. And, Conor possesses extraordinary charisma that is innate to him. Despite not having fought in 3 years, everyone readily accepts that he is the biggest star in MMA, and it's not even close. That is quite remarkable if you think about it.

At this point most folks who are internet savvy are saying F this and go looking for a stream. UFC f'd up when they did up their contract with ESPN and this was a part of it. You can't have it all. Conor is an insanely rare character; gifted athlete, flashy fight style, knockout power, naturally charismatic, lots of memorable one liners, knows how to sell a fight. I'd say Paddy Pimblett is goofy, quirky and unique enough personality-wise to sell a fight to a wider audience but the problem is he can't fight lmao O'Malley on the other hand can fight like a superstar but can't talk like one. We might never get another Conor.

The issue is that nowadays people can't be real, except online or behind somebody's back. I mean, nowadays everybody is beautiful or sexy & every kid is a winner that gets a trophy. So when Sean says he's a star, mma media concurr & spread the word. U hear Rogan, DC, etc say "This kid is a star", but is he though, in the way that matters? Followers & subs on the socials don't necessarily equate to stardom in the mma/boxing industry. Look at Jake's very high numbers on the socials relative to his PPV sales, it's tragic. A sub or a follow is free & takes a sec, but to be a superstar u need large numbers of people willing to dedicate their time & money to u.

He'll never be Conor level. It wasn't just Conor's trash talk on top of his fights that made him the biggest. It was his personality, unwavering confidence in himself and way he spoke things into existence, charisma, humor, mystique, and much more. Many people were captivated by Conor before even seeing him fight. Conor resonated with people from non MMA fans to the most hardcore fans. My grandfather asked me if I knew about the "Irish fighter, McGregor" before Conor even fought Aldo, and my grandfather has never followed any combat sports. My parents know who Conor is. Everyone does. Sean doesn't have the right ingredients to captive the masses. He's a good fighter but that alone isn't enough to be bigger than Conor. It's fitting that Sean is partnered with Nelk because that's essentially what his demo is outside of hardcore fight fans. Younger people and mainly 20s to early 30s will see Nelk as cool, but a large chunk of the population outside of that don't watch or care about the Nelk boys. That's basically Sean's demographics too, and he doesn't possess the appeal to reach too far outside of that. That's why he'll never be bigger than Conor, or even as big as him.🎉
