When they say "one of the last before the great shift" it is quite probable that they mean to say that William was a mentor shortly before the Shift and that he was followed by maybe another 2 or 3 others. This kind of wording doesn't, in this context, imply that anything bad happened.
@SomasAcademy Жыл бұрын
Yeah I was thinking the same thing, like we could say Achilles Davenport was "one of the last Assassin Mentors before the American Revolution" without meaning that the American Revolution marked the end of Assassin Mentors. It could easily just be a historical event that they're using to contextualize when William was Mentor.

I think this is good for the MD story as a whole, to properly start anew, as long as it's done well. If Darby's behind it then I trust it will be good. The MD hasn't been very compelling for a long time, and I think it should stray further away from our own world and the real-time story, and dare to do something brave and new. A jump to a (post-apocalyptic?) future is a good start. Kind of like how AC1 was supposed to be before the emails got retconned. Shame if we don't get to see Shaun or Becks again, but the quality of the storytelling is what matters, not retaining old characters just because they're fan favorites. Also - Desmond and Layla are seemingly immortal now, and so is Basim because he has Aletheia's staff. I wonder if we'll see them again.
@Feniksds Жыл бұрын
honestly the assassins creed universe is a shared universe with watch dogs. And since they've stopped making watch dogs but some of its gameplay is similar i really see it possible that a next installment might feature abstergo abusing people with dedsec going against them and rediscovering the brotherhood through samples etc. The only problems is that the Basim/Loki is still around in modern day and desmond and layla's consciousness are still in the grey. So my thoughts on the whole thing is: AC infinity will be a live service having multiplayer and singleplayer. I think it will revolve around dedsec fighting against abstergo team up with bloom. Controlling the world and discovering memories of the creed. Assassin's creed hexe is being made by the guy who made mirage i feel like Basim's story isn't finished and that they still wanna make more "neo-classic" ac games so hexe might be about Basim. Considering he is searching for Odin to take revenge. He organises operations from constantinopel in foreign lands. The thing is he did travel to these nations its mentioned in the wiki which is based on games and source material. In other words if the creed spread to Europe someone must have done so and old high german that was seen in the trailer was spoken from the 6th century till 1050. The Basim travels and gets active in Constantinopel in 867. In 870 he deals with the snake Eaters in turkey. And in 872 he goes to Norway. Later on he gets trapped in Yggdrasil. Now he went on travels and he had connections to Francia. So either its a different character overall. But Basim did travel to alot of places. So my bet is either he did travel to Europe before he went to Norway learning about more templars in the north. Thus later on deciding to go to Norway. Or during the travel to Norway they made a stop in The holy roman empire where they did speak old German. Not only that Mepehisto is the devil from the faust legend that was made in Germany but is based upon a demon Mephistoles who doesn't search for men to corrupt, but comes to serve (we know this word) and ultimately collect the souls of those who are already damned sounds alot like a assassin coming to serve the light taking lifes of the order of the ancients. Witchcraft does not exist irl but pieces of eden might explain it. If Basim hears about that he will know its pieces of eden and he knows it has to do with Isu so he will want to know. And he can't be controlled by the pieces. It would make sense. Those three years that he is in Constantinopel and he also aparantly travels nothing is said about that but like al the other stuff is filled with lore. Its weird. So yea this is what i think will happen.

Memory Ghost could also refer to the way in which the Norse Isu reincarnate into their host forms. Looking at Derby's description you've quoted at 6:37, unlike Aita its more the extracted or "un-physical" information which reincarnates as opposed to a more physical materialisation like the traditional sage. So its the memory's of the Isu which take on a sort of second consciousness or "sprit" within the host. Hence, Memory Ghost.

Not gonna lie. I'm very concerned about modern day story. Cutting the present day story with Shaun, Rebecca, Basim, William, LAYLA (AND DESMOND!!!!!!) in favor of a story set in the future could truly be the death of this franchise. The present day story, and its evolution, is the reason why I played all the Assassin's Creed games. It is the common thread that connects everything and gives meaning to living adventures in the past. I really hope they changed their mind, for a hardcore fan it would be death. I always thought the Great Shift was most of the modern day Assassins aligning with Templar views and eventually converting so to speak. Its a topic Otso Berg talks about extensively when he mentions the Assassins turned Templar that he admired. I firmly believe the brotherhood was fully abolished by the time this new cutscene was taking place. I also think that Abstergo during this time succeeds in making a precursor from scratch. P.S. The fact that the modern day will not be in the games anymore is a joke. The only thing that matters about AC is the modern day. Most real fans know this.

You didn't really acknowledge the fact how setting the modern day in future would be good for franchise and the modern day characters we know. Every modern day plot in AC was ALWAYS tied to the past through memories about Isu, Eden Pieces or various conflicts. That always took something from modern day, the characters there was always highlily involved in the past, not in the modern day. Taking plot to the future lets explore memories of such characters as Rebecca, Shaun, Elijah, Daniel Cross, Lucy Stillman, Otso Berg and SO MUCH MORE! Damn, people are really overlooking all that.

While i agree on most of your theories, i would not necessary agree on the "Great Shift". For one, as of now it has to be seen as "cut content", thus with a pinch of salt anyways and i would (as of now, december 23) not really read anything into it, mainly because it feels like something we saw happen previously, also with similar personel: In Unity there were mentions of Juno (and i think "the ten") which originally was intended as a hint by a certain narrative director towards Origins, but that just did not work out at all. With this being a seeming "Last minute cut" it may still be on the table, but my initial thought was this would be a similar situation as it was with Unity, only that it got cut from the game and is only accessible via datamining and modding. Apart from that, a concept of a "Great Shift" within the assassins to me would sound rather like something that was a internal struggle and the outcome of it led to the scenario the modern take will take place in. But i´d think rather along the lines that William, Rebecca and Shaun would be on one side and Basim would gather modern day assassins as well, since he can offer something that "the tradtiional assassins" cannot: Knowledge and a better understanding of it. Thus rather a "internal shift" within the assasins, so significant that it had implications on the modern day as a whole. Thus would also allow to approach historical settings from a new angle and maybe even somehow tie "the intrsuments of the first will" back into the story.

I kind of hate this. Like, 10 years ago the concept of AC going into the future would have seemed cool to me, but at this point I'd rather they just stick to basics, give us an interesting modern day set during the actual modern day where Abstergo is a shady corporation with hidden Templar goals and the Assassins are a small underground group trying to get ahead of them by looking into the past.

@@gadingprakasa Yeah, very true. Part of that was also how they presented information, though; like, finding out about PoEs or TOWCB/Isu for the first time would always involve some level of surprise, but the fact they didn't show what PoEs could do and only hinted at TOWCB/Isu until the last missions of AC1 and AC2 respectively added to the impact of both. They can still get some of that impact with newer games, by introducing new PoEs we haven't seen in action before and saving the reveals for the right time (I think AC Odyssey and Valhalla, despite being one of my least favorite games in the series, do that pretty well, Odyssey by having a completely batshit Isu twist and Valhalla by heavily hinting at its Isu stuff throughout but only hitting you with the full reveal toward the end)

Fingers crossed tho
@Asram5 Жыл бұрын
I'm sure I've said it in some other video, but I really care about the modern day and I really don't want them to go with this route. Not just because I love characters like Shaun and Rebecca but also because Ubisoft has tossed the modern day around so much but at least it still has those connections and characters that matter to the ongoing story so far. Jumping to the future could end up backfiring and they abandon it as they have stuffed around with the modern day so far. And then if people don't like the modern day in the future and they abandon it, isn't that the final nail in the coffin? They would have abandoned everything that came before. I also just doubt they would create very compelling characters or ones who would stick around. Layla was so exciting for me because I thought Ubisoft had abandoned a real modern day character for good. And I was one of her few supporters because I was terrified if they killed her off we would go right back to a faceless avatar, aka 'You'. The Odyssey DLC definitely made me strongly dislike her for killing off one of the best transmedia characters and then seriously wounding Otso. I really hope he lives and returns because he is so interesting and compelling. But I think Valhalla's ending elegantly wrapped up her story, whilst also bringing back Desmond and tying their stories together. And that was OK because Basim being the new protagonist was so exciting. An actual ISU is such a cool angle. Just please don't abandon Basim, Rebecca, Shaun, William, and all of the transmedia characters. I really want them to stick with it and if it can't be a major focus in the main games, just make it compelling and consistent as optional content in Infinite. If a future modern day ended up being awful that would seriously kill part of what I love so much about AC.

We didn't really get anything new on this part with Mirage, which was already a big disappointment, so it's really not interesting if they don't make it up and move forward like they always did in the next IP, most likely Red.
