As I understand it the two guys went under the title of The Blue Jays

More or less. It was supposed to be a Hayward/Mike Pinder project during the band's separation after Seventh Sojurn, but then John showed up and producer Tony Clarke showed up and Mike pulled aside Justin and said he just really didn't want to do this project any more, he was only interested in working with his old mate, Justin, who was the first one in the band to meet Justin, having picked him up from the airport when he was hired.

The Moody Blues have 7 of there albums Days of Future Past to the 7th sojourn all having one theme [love] as well the 7 albums are the seven Thunders that other their voices, in Revelation chapter 10. Justin and John, both exercise, separately. Justin, on a treadmill; I've seen in a different video. I don't know if John works out on a treadmill, but John likes to play golf. That's how they "stay so slim", as the female co-host asked.

What a strange choice for a TV appearance … The Moody Blues a one man show…. How embarrassing for John. Not even needed for background vocals. Don’t get me wrong, I like this song but it’s simply not appropriate to present it here. It’s one Moody Blue, not even two.
