I like that you gave a shout-out to FortuneCookie45LC, I love coming to KZbin for detailed informational videos when I need to do a job but lack personal experience. @caffeinatedinsanity23245 жыл бұрын
I think the worst part is also the fact that KZbin is becoming politicized. KZbin was supposed to be an entertainement platform at first. I come here because I enjoy shooting videos (Taofledermaus), chemistry (Nile Red, Cody's lab), electronics (Great Scott) and workshop stories (AvE) for the most part.

I love Fortune Cookie but Jeff couldn’t have said it any better. It is absolutely prohibited materials for KZbin due to the very specific step by step reloading of ammunition and since this ban what made the channel a huge asset has also massacred the available content they upload. I feel privileged to have been able to learn so much and also feel gutted that KZbin doesn’t allow this anymore but does allow some truly abysmal content instead. His content and actual personal interaction, advice and research has helped me a lot. Not only that, but he uses his reach to pass on good ideas. Back when I was in my black powder phase, I bought a mold from Lee reloading. It was a .69 inch Rifling Engraved at Loading mold or REAL. It thres a 250 grain flat bottom solid slug with a wider band at the top. It proved to be a real performer. I was shooting tight groups and using a old washing machine as a testing device to catch the bullets. They worked well on red bricks as well. I was using a spent 45/70 casing as a powder measure and it was very consistant with pyrodex powder. It seems like that would be a useful pellet to try out in your efforts. Fps would go up substantially.

Thanks huge for the kind words. Looking forward to loading the Moose bullets tomorrow. Powder charges will be just a hair less than the 525 Lyman to start - the Moose has more bearing surface, just a bit less weight. The Moose bullets are just a hair too wide to fit in trap wads without bulging the petals a bit. I might have a solution though with a 20 gauge spacer fiber wad under the slug. More on this at the loading bench... Have a great day, and thanks again.... Steve

One thing holding you back, and Fortune Cookie too, on loading some of these projectile is the use of shot shell shot cups to get a proper barrel fit. The shot cups are a rouge variable for accuracy as the release from the projectile is not consistent. Sabot encasements and purpose built wads cam be very consistent. Commercial slug loads use proven built up wad columns which also work very well for consistent groups. I suggest a built up column of plastic gas seal, fiber wad, nitro card wad and mylar wraps (like used in old Winchester Mark V shot shells). Thanks for your work!
