No it wasn't. It may have been a friend of his late mother, who was already aware of the situation, but perhaps felt powerless to stop it. The impression I have, is that she, and/or others, had perhaps tried to address Phillip's insanity, but failed. He's insane, not weird.

I have seen some pieces of episodes and wondering the same but for this episode right now on Jan. 5 2023 I watched and saw the whole episode here on KZbin. And I’ve seen many episodes that are complete on yiu tube. So I’m wondering if they recently started putting up full episodes. I have seen the other Alfred hitcock show related to this one on a few occasions and heard of the show but I didn’t know they were so good. I love hitcocks movies. I previously mentioned I’m a wimp with anything horror related. As a kid I went on fun house rides with my eyes closed the whole time and as a teen and young adult refused to ride or go in a haunted house and I did watch psycho flipping the channel at the scary scenes but I find I can tolerate Hitchcock’s movies and like them better than anything else horror related. I could never go into haunted houses where people jump out at yiu - once when they were fairly popular I was about 14 and my friend and I went in with her married sister and husband. We were sandwiched in between them holding onto the back of each other’s shirts s with our eyes closed. Someone jumped out at my friend and theooor girl literally was so scared she wet her pants. I felt so bad for her - we hadn’t been at the amusement park in wildwood very long and we had gotten there in the early evening but we ended up leaving early for obvious reasons. I can remember although it was her sister she was with she was still embarrassed and as we went home she sat on an old sweatshirt in the car and eventually ended up realizing her sister and brother in law were kidding around with her about her going in their car home. They happened to have vinyl seats so of course the seats were washed but I know if it happened to me I’d be more embarrassed being it was her sister and husband. I knew them well. They were a nice couple and we used to walk to her sisters house many times from her house to visit them. We thought it was great and even now I still do that we were upper grade school kids and high schoolers hanging out with her early 20 something sister and husband.
