Recording new shows is my favorite thing to do. I love to edit them to but they are labor intensive, which is why it takes us a while to find the time to put out new shows. This is one of those videos that you wish would not end! It was awesome watching you guys work you way up those epic switchbacks! Legit driving on Switchback 16 which is a gut check for sure! The camera always makes things look flat but that trail is so steep and narrow ... the perfect jeep trail !

Thanks for watching and commenting! Yes, it is the perfect Jeep trail. We can't wait to go back and just drive it. We have another video on the trail but it only shows 8 of the switchbacks. The rest is the canyon and the 15 miles after the switchbacks. It is actually the same trip, just showing different sections. Thanks again!

Years ago before I did this trail I read that the turn outs at each switchback was so you could pull straight in and then back up to the next switchback. I could not conceive of backing up this trail with hopes that you do not get to close to the edge. Can you imagine how difficult it was to haul freight up to the ranch using a wagon and mules?

I would not want to be backing up too much on this trail. I did have to back up some to let a four wheeler go by and that was all I needed. I would rather just make multi point turns. All and all it wasn't too bad but you do need to focus on the trail as mistakes can be costly. Turn 16 is the one that can get folks in trouble. I saw a guy in a rig try to pile rocks to build up the shelf. The rocks gave away and he almost lost it. Going straight up it is really the only safe way. The old timers with the wagons and all were a tough lot. I do think the trail has deteriorated over the years because I know some used to take a tractor up there and it would not be possible now... Especially on number 16.

Before we drove the trail, we droned it from across the valley. Then we drove to the top on opening day and filmed the first person to drive it in 2021. RORA was taking a group over the trail that day. What a fun group. I can't image taking anyone on the trail. I would be afraid someone would freak out and drive off by mistake. Fear does crazy things to some people. I met a lady in an assisted living who watched this show with me on their TV. She could hardly sit still she was so excited to where SHE had ridden horses up and down the trail as part of her job when she was young.

What type lockers does your Jeeps have? AND what transfer case gears are they equipped with?

Both are Rubicons and have stock transfer cases and stock lockers. The orange is a JK and the teal is a JL. The orange JK as has 5:13. The teal has the stock 4:10s.

For the orange jeep... JK. The transfer case is 4.46:1. Crawl ratio is 92 to 1 - That's with the stock transfer case and the 513 Diff gears.
