Good aim and experience will get you that For the most part F-104s are more annoying than OP. Sure you pretty much can't touch it unless you're in a 10.0 supersonic but at the same time it's nose authority is so bad it really can't touch you either if you're paying attention and actively changing directions. Don't forget the MiG-19 at 9.3 that is faster than almost every 8.3 AND can pretty much out-dogfight anything it sees.

One game doesn't mean anything. That's not nearly a good enough sample size. I've gotten a 9 kill, technically 10 kill game in the 104A, but that doesn't mean anything when my average in it is like 2-3.

the starfighter used to turn great above 900-1000 kph with combat flaps back when it had combat flaps. you can still somewhat feather your flaps to get the same efect, though if you let take off flaps extend all the way you will rip them off.

Usually I also get annoyed at ground pounding when there's still half the teams left, but I 100% ground pound when the enemy team has 104's. They just drag the game out so long, and the fights you have with them are never fun or rewarding. Would rather end the game on tickets at that point and move on to the next game.

These things are so annoying to face. That's why whenever I'm playing something like the Ayit, I reserve the two 9Ds especially for cleaning them up. Having a late game with only subsonics on your team against 3 of these is insufferable...

The aim 9bs on this thing always suprise me. They work pretty good when launched from m1.10+ and are way more useful on this plane than anything else I've tried em on.

It's just been improved, but before that it was slower than mig 21's at the altitude that everyone fights at. It's common to survive in the 104a but get no kills because you only have a pair of 9b's so both the gun and missiles depend on someone staying in front of you for a long time while you make a few passes thru the furball per game before everyone dies. People STILL thought it needs to be a higher BR before these changes just because they are mad there's a plane that runs away rather than turn and die. Or because of the other versions that have up to 6 actually useful missiles instead of 2 bad ones.

I’ve found f104s to be very helpful when I’m flying something like a Sabre. When I’ve been dealing with a faster enemy who’s focused on me, I’ve had a f104 pilot swoop in from space and obliterate them a few times. Or distract them and pull them close enough to set me up for the kill.

Once you get used to to lining up shots this thing is insane, I dont even like the bnz playstyle much either like the f84s but in this thing you will have so many opportunities to pour a lead stream into another jet since your almost invinc i found it really fun

The F104A is the prime exampl of why the game need decompression. at 8.3 this thing is unkillable basically. But at 10.3 it becomes unuseable.

It's faster than nearly all 10.3s in the game now. It used to be slower than the smt and mf and then they would just shit on it but now it's like 50kph faster even with a full missile load.

I've just unlocked the 8.3 Sabre and I am paired with these monstrosities almost every second match. I deal with jet's that have missiles, afterburner and generally turn better and are faster... I always wanted to fly jets but it's so BRUTAL... 😥

ALL of the 104's just got a huge buff too, their top speed on the deck was increased by 0.1 mach, and their acceleration is much better too especially above mach. The 104A was already good but now it's just fucking ridiculous.

Couldn't be anymore accurate. An F104 at 9.3 rn is just straight up undertiered and unbelievably annoying. If something like the G.91YS is still at 9.7 and it's slower, why can't the 104 be 9.7 too. Idk if it's because I've used it before and now that I'm grinding techtrees other than US, I'm subjected to the suffering I subjected to other players lol but man, you can't even cut these things off and fire an aim-9B at them from 1.1 km anymore cause they just straight up outrun the thing without maneuvering. The only way I've managed to really kill these things effectively is straifing them, and I feel no remorse. Sometimes I even fly out the Ayit with aim-9D just so I can grieve F104s for all the pain they cause at 8.3😂

The 104A is often useless at higher BR since it can't keep from being hit by anything but the worst missiles, but it only carries two of the worst missiles so you can only hit someone else if they fly straight for long enough for you to turn to get behind them and let you get 1km away and don't turn or flare. And even now that its low alt is better, the fact is that being fast is literally the only thing it can try to use against anyone so if you want it to fight things that aren't way slower, what's it supposed to do?

@@spaceminions Sure, I won't deny the f104 can be completely useless in uptiers, cause of the FM and Kit it has, but I still don't think it warrants this thing going up against subsonic because they're slower and presumably easier to kill. If you play the F104 right and apply enough pressure, no one touches you and you effectively drain everything of speed and anyone, despite the plane, is going to be hitting a stalled out opponent. But at the same time, we all know that no one tends to plays to the strengths of their aircrafts nowadays and always end up doing the dumbest stuff, so not everyone will be playing this right. Most times, ppl end up running the entire game or camping the AF which is completely annoying. At the end of the day, it's better if one plane is made useless so an entire BR range can atleast be playable rather than keeping said plane in that br range so EVERYTHING suffers there.

So usually especially since it needs an easy shot to be able to kill you in the tiny period of time before it passes you, and it needs to begin lining up on you long before then, you make it overshoot once and it picks something else to shoot at next time. Or its teammates get you while you focus on it.

You should take a look at the T-2 and F-1. They just got Aim-9P's which at 9.7, for the T-2 respectively, it's takes it from painful to genuinely fun. Idk what warrants the F-1 having an 10.3 br just because of 2 additional missiles. Either way, they're missing a lot of equipment (not 9L's, I mean ground ordinance and anti-ship stuff), burn fuel super fast, and don't have great energy / flight performance. A jet that needs a bit of skill I'll say.

Also, some MIG21 models can catch up with me in straight line and I have an F104C aced. yes, downtiered the thing is like an angel of death. But when facing uptiers you can only run and pray they dont see you

I'm just trying to figure out this plane, and it's still completely stock for me. Every single game is a full upteir and I just can't do shit. Exactly why I don't fly it often, quite boring to play proper given its limited engagement envelope, and hella annoying to play against especially when being uptiered against it, drags out a game either way (and yes, I once had to fight 3 starfighters simultaneously in a stock sabre while being the sole player alive on my team, managing to survive only to die to fuel depletion)
