Dentist here. You’re supposed to brush your teeth and spit. No rinsing. You want the active ingredients of the toothpaste to stay on your teeth so they can do their job. If you’re rinsing, there goes all the fluoride or potassium nitrate (if you’re using an anti-sensitivity toothpaste like Sensodyne) down the drain.

Dental assistant here!!!! 🦷 The temperature of water can have different effects on ur teeth, but one isn’t necessarily better than the other. I have patients come in, and automatically the water I give them to rinse with is cold, but some patients ask for warm water. Warm water can be good for soreness or sensitivity, cold water tends to harden plaque which makes it easier to remove, and hot water is like a detox for your teeth. It’s all based on preference!

Road trip nightmare for me was my husband was moving from upstate Nevada to Phoenix and as we passed into Arizona the van caught on fire. So we were on the side of the highway with a 13yo and a dog in the middle of summer. We had to put blankets over us and hold the dog as the sun and pavement was so hot. Thankfully people stopped to help. We then got stuck at a truck stop in Kingman for hours waiting for a ride home. It was awful. I was just thankful my 7yo was not with us.

** I need to RELAX** My boyfriend of almost 4 years continues to irritate me with his denial of scientific facts. As most adults know, when you create a stinky situation in the bathroom, you can simply strike a match, blow it out, and *science! Hot water is used to help disolve the grease from the dishes, but saliva exactly does dissolve fats, so there is no need for hot water. Teeth brushing and floshing is meant to remove food left overs between teeth crevices, plus fluor from the toothpaste is used to neutralize the cavities creating bacteria. A great pee story is I was a junior in hs dating a pretty popular guy, he’s dating me despite the fact I’m on crutches and I would REFUSE to pee at school. He was so cool he had a car and after school I went to his mom’s house. But I had to pee so bad that waiting for him to unlock the front door my bladder failed me! Peed myself. I find these debates HILARIOUS!! I have so many I could talk about, as my friends and I like to talk about these kinds of things. I'll share a few LOL. So 3 out of 4 of my friends pronounce "crayon" as CRAY-ON, while our other friend pronounces it CRAN and argues that it's so... I think it's so weird! This next one blew my mind... in my home my family has used butt wipes for my whole life for going number 2. I mentioned one time to my parents that every time I go to anyone else's house, I can never find any butt wipes! They looked me in the eye and told me that barely anyone uses butt wipes and that it's just a weird thing my family does. WHY?? Are people only using toilet paper for number 2??? I have to know if people use butt wipes in their home. Love this podcast, keep up the great work you two!!

I grew up in Monterey. The aquarium was such a big part of my life. Through my adolescent I visited so many times. I got to go to a kids camp and a slumber party with the fish. In high school we had our Prom there. Dancing the night away next to the deep sea tank. The Monterey Bay aquarium is an amazing place that has taught me so much about our marine life. About the teeth brushing water temperature, I ALWAYS have to brush my teeth with hot water. It feels so wrong and gross when I brush with cold water. I could be super late to something and still wait a couple extra seconds for the water to get hot to brush my teeth. I DO NOT by any means dry my face with a towel; I’m acne prone. I dry one foot put it on the rug, next foot then up my body. My curly hair doesn’t get dried unless I’m blow drying it (I’ll keep outside the towel) so it retains moisture when I put in the products. If my hair isn’t wet, I’ll hang the towel then proceed with skincare before putting on any clothes.

All the talk about shower and drying off order is fascinating! I'm 💯 with Colleen about facing away from the water in the shower because there is NO WAY I could ever wash my hair with my chin to my chest (my hair is thick and long, I sometimes sit on it). To dry off, I always have 2 towels. I use the hair towel (yes, I have separate specific towels for my hair) to quickly pat my face then use the corners of the towel to dry my ears. THEN use my body towel to dry my shoulders and upper back. I wrap the towel around my body and let the rest air dry as I do my skin routine.

Dental Assistant here! I use hot water to warm the bristles of the tooth brush (softest tooth brush bristles as possible it best for your gums!) technically you should not be rinse if the toothpaste away with water after you brush. You should just spit out excess. (For fluoride benefits of toothpaste) BUT no one does that so I use cold water to mix with the mint to get fresh breath (like when you drink water after super minty gum your mouth feels so fresh)

Hey Colleen & Carrot !! Me and my husband always have an argument when we roadtrip about whos drink goes in the first cup holder hole and whose in the (back) second hole. I feel the person driving should have their cup in the first hole, which is towards the front of the car and the passenger in the second hole, which is in the back, but he always wants his on the second hole because it’s easier for him to grab if he has his hand rested on the console. curious to know if you guys have ever had an issue with this. The only silly debate that comes to mind between me and my partner is the whole washing / rinsing raw chicken before cooking. I am a no rinser just because i dont think its neccesary. The heat from cooking kills bacteria and I've read that washing it can splash the raw chicken bacteria around your sink which is bad. But I'm not a hater. My partner is a rinser. He thinks he has to. I don't hate on it and if he's cooking he can rinse it if he wants to. But he always thinks I'm wrong and thinks I need to do it lol.

We definitely say “put the groceries UP” around here! It’s the same as telling the kids to put up the toys. Or “clean up” as the song even says. So what do you say to your kids when it’s time to clean the room? Do you say “it’s time to clean the toys?” If so, what do you mean because to me cleaning something means washing it whereas cleaning up means to pick it up and put it away. Same with groceries, we put them up as in up in the cabinets, up in the fridge, etc. Also, Erik saying that Monday is even, proves Colleen’s point of Sunday being the first day of the week. Because the one way for Monday to be even is if it’s day #2 meaning Sunday is #1. 😂
