Thanks for taking the suggestions seriously. Your videos are really good! As for "kod konja" - we all say it and it is not out of disrespect. It has become just a colloquial term to relate to a place. Keep up the good work and have fun.
@ZoranStefanovic-z1g6 сағат бұрын
Pišeš gluposti . Trg ima svoje ime . Izraz " Kod konja" može da ima dva značenja : 1) jahača naziva konjem 2) konj je vredniji od jahača jer spomenik nije podignut konju nego jahaču . I to jeste pogrdan i podsmešljiv naziv . I čovek je dobro i ispravno objasnio razloge takvog naziva .

@@ZoranStefanovic-z1g Trg Republike ja bih preimenovala u Trg Mihaila Obrenovića ili Trg đakona Avakuma. Sve drugo je uvreda. Jedan i drugi su zaslužni Srbi.

07:58 One must know that back in the time of the Serbian Empire, the Serbian emperor intended to become the emperor of the Byzantine Empire. The right to the throne in Constantinople today has a few nations. Obviously, it is not Turks, and obviously not Western nations. 09:39 Feudalism in Serbia was abolished in 1835 with the Sretenje Constitution. Both feudalism and slavery were abolished. Second in the world right after France. It was done during the reign of Miloš Obrenović, the father of knjaz Miahjlo. And btw, the title knez/knjaz can be translated as prince or duke. It is right under the title of king. 09:50 Christmas in Serbia is on January 7th. The decorations are mostly for the New Year as we don't celebrate Christmas as the West.

Hey man, great stuff as always. Let me be "one of those people for a second." knez Milos was the father of Mihajlo. Idk who said that about communists coming up with the horse term, but it is simply not true. Most people aren't historians, so yeah, if they see a dude on a big horse, the chances are they gonna reference the horse, so it just got stuck like that. Bonus fact the most famous prisoner of kula nebojsa was greek national hero Rigas Feraios, brought there by the Ottomans and later executed. Anyway, keep it up, and feel free to ask if you need more information about belgrade and Serbia 😊😊😊

Super cool, thanks for being one of those people! 😉 I'm always stoked to learn something new. And I'll definitely be reaching out soon! I'm going to see my parents for a couple months but will be back here in March and looking for new things to see and do.

@@ExpatsInTheMaking excellent video. Glad you're enjoying Belgrade. Just one thing. Knjaz is not a personal name, but a title. Knjaz= duke or prince. And Mihajlo is the serbian version of the name Michael. Cheers!

"Nebojša" is acctually a name
@ExpatsInTheMaking18 сағат бұрын
I've read that the transition of "Nebojša's Tower" came later in history and isn't the original intent. I don't speak Serbian so I definitely won't pretend to know but that's what I read. 🤷

Belgrade fortress may be old but I don't believe it was there when the Romans occupied area 2000+ years back. They did encounter Celtic tribes around that area but I imagine that at most they would have had wooden palisade as a defensive structure. I imagine Romans would have begun construction of more serious defenses. BTW, there are excavations of sites of non-slavic cultures that preceded Celts/Romans by many thousands of years. "Vinča culture" is the term to search for. A significant site also exists south of Belgrade along Danube, a place called "Lepenski Vir".
@ZoranStefanovic-z1g7 сағат бұрын
You know this is "non slavic" culture . Vinča is civilisation non culture .

Christmas in Serbia, Russia, Egypt etc is celebrated as everywhere else on December 25th according to Julian calendar. Serbian Orthodox church never follows decisions of any Pope, Bishop of Rome. That applies to decision of Pope Gregory too.

Pantocrator (not "Panto-creator") literally means the ruler of all, in other words, The Almighty. The part "-crator" has the same root and similar pronunciation as the "-cratic" in "democratic".
