One of your best videos yet !! I have a few questions about amps and signal processors, if you don't mind answering I'd be grateful. Do the new and far smaller footprint amps have less reliability and noticeable SQ difference than that of their predecessors ? Are they more bulletproof then the awesome old school amps ? The technology has improved and with having robotics and much easier to mass produce, but I would rather have old school amps like the Kicker ZR, RF, or higher end like US Amps or Linear Power. Is it much better to have an external high end signal processor/eq over controlling sound from a high end head unit like Kenwood, Pioneer, etc. ? I see the high end signal processors such as RF Helix Audison Mosconi and others along with the lower priced versions and wonder if there is a day and night very noticeable SQ difference from having an external signal processor over the nice head unit. Those Savard 8" subs have great bang for the buck 500 watt RMS for $125. I would enjoy watching a video showing some of the top rated 8" subwoofers in a DB challenge and side by side comparisons . Big $ -Sundown JL Digital Designs DC audio B2, etc. Bang for buck subs- Memphis MOJO CT Sounds B2 Skar Savard RF Orion Kicker, etc. SQ top end subs -Focal Dynaudio Hertz, etc. Thank you for posting these great old school and new tech videos which helps to entertain us during these tough times.

I bought one of these from Sonic Electronix 12 years ago (grey market), for $498 brand new ! At that time, SE listed the MSRP at $1498. Beat the shit out of that thing for pretty much the entire 12 years. Finally started to have problems (which in retrospect, probably were not even coming from the amp) but I was waaay overdue for a separate bass and stereo amps anyway. So after 12 years of use, I sold it for $300 a couple months ago. I'm sure I could have gotten more.... but I had already gotten like $10,000 worth of use out of it :) lol Best value piece of stereo equipment I've ever bought. Granted, the new stuff is SO freaking strong, for so cheap. It was a great looking amp though, and the LED lights were more than just pretty. They were actually so useful, and completely visible from the drivers seat in my truck. I wish amp companies still used these.

I've had this amp since, I believe, 2009 or so, in my 08 grand prix, and I've beaten the heck out of it with my four Polk Audio MM6501 speakers and two 12" Punch P3 sealed subs (wired as such to give a 1ohm load to the sub channel). And still never had a problem with overheating or any apparent damage to the amp, but a couple of my speakers have been from excessive volume over the past few years. I'm curious, do they make any 5 channel amps like this anymore? With that kind of power AND 1-ohm stable? I actually find it kind of sad that this amp was such a limited production awesome piece of car audio equipment.

Way cool! Thanks Big D. Are you still running the Orion SPLX 3K on the 8s, as your daily setup? Love RF. I have a lot of Amps some still in boxes never opened, but you! oh man, where do you put all your amps, you have one of everything!
