Gainesville is a great little town. There are 254 counties in Texas, I have traveled through 230 of those counties, I never tire of Texas. Texas does not get a lot of love from outside it’s borders, so I really enjoy seeing it through your eyes.

I live in Texas and Gainesville is fairly close, only 4.5 hours away! 😂 Try making a trip to Fredericksburg. Not as small town as it used to be but still nice.

Lavender Ridge Farms is just outside of Gainesville off Hwy 82. It blooms in June, so now is the perfect time to go! They have a cafe that uses the fresh lavender, petting zoo, gift shop and plants for sale. I think you can bring your own wine and hang out on the farm, but double check that. The Frank Buck Zoo in Gainesville is very nice for a family visit too.

Come to Canton both during First Monday and like a week or two after. While here visit the artist town of Edom (great if you can attend the art festival).

Let me tell you of another town that you'll need to be there all day just to review the entire massive museum they have, and that would be Fredericksburg. Take a bag and lots of money, because those Germans make tons of homemade candies, wines, and so much stuff, that Santa Claus drop-ships through them. Port Aransas has a humongous beach and surf shops, but Rockport has a quaint beach, a small souvenir shop district, a marina, a maritime museum, wharfs and the Fulton Mansion.
