I just learned Florida tried to draft Alex Ovechkin with every pick in the 2003 draft. He was born two days after the cut off, and they tried to say leap years made him old enough (?). I did not remember this. They hoped a legal challenge could help them win the choice which is why they tried every selection.

Fun fact: Taro Tsujimoto, after a spell of unsuccessful seasons in Buffalo, would get traded to the Washington Capitals in 1987 where he played the last 420 games of his career, scoring a total of 69 points true story

Yup! Tried applying this season but missed the age requirement by 1 month. Trying again next summer. Turner was my fav this last season. Excited for season 25. Fav all timers are Evel Dick, Jeff & Jordan & Boogie

I'll never forgive Dave Nonis (or Dave Numbnuts as I like to call him) for wasting the Canucks first round draft pick in 2007 on Patrick White, despite being told repeatedly by every scout in the Canucks employ NOT to.

Kotkaniemi would be off the board for me, and I would have even thought, that no matter the difference in projected picks, that at the time with Shane Wright coming in as he was with the gap between the players pre-draft, Slafkovsky (spelling) was off the board for MTL. Other off the boards pick (IMO) that didn't work out would be Rick DiPietro.

I'm still confused as to why the Senators drafted Tyler Boucher 10th overall in 2021. He was projected to go in the 2nd round by most scouts. And in the two seasons since his draft year he's done nothing to prove the scouts wrong. If the 2021 draft were re-done, Boucher would probably go in the 5th round

Thank you for another fantastic video. I've been a Rangers fan since I was a young boy in the mid '70's. The McIlrath pick was an absolute atrocity. They could have gotten Tarasenko that year who went later in the first round. Unfortunately, with few exceptions, the Rangers historically have had terrible draft picks.

They ain't bad at later draft picks, but in the first round they are brutal, Jessiman, Andersson, McIlrath, Kakko, Lafreniere, among many others, all terrible picks.

@86cutty442 Brian Leetch and Kreider are a few exceptions. They passed on some all-time greats in my lifetime. Trottier, Bossy, Sakic, to name a few.

unless i had one of the 1st few picks, i would take a risk drafting a surprising player too…. i mean look at how many players in past drafts that were drafted like 25th and became a star… or players drafted like 5th and became busts…. you don’t know how players will be until they are on a specific team with specific players

1983 draft. You may have missed some players of importance over some of the names that you picked for your video. Pat Lafontaine, Steve Yzerman, Tom Barasso, Russ Courtnall, Cam Neely, Claude Lemieux, Sergio Momesso, Kevin Stevens.

I would do what’s necessary to try to move up to pick Michkov. I would send both Olofsson and the #13th overall or the #13th overall with a 2nd rounder for let’s say the #8th overall. There have been quite a few busts in the top of the draft but I rather try to draft one really talented player with some bust risk than go for three players that aren’t predicted to become more than 3rd liners.

Pretty sure if he's available at 8 Washington's taking him so you'd need a package to get above 8th. (below? English is weird, a lower number is generally considered above it because it's earlier in the draft).

Why is this thumbnail on my KZbin home page. Why are you trying to hurt us Rangers fans? One of the two years I just shut the draft off after the Rangers pick. Mcilrath and Lias Andersson. I wanted Tarasenko or Fowler. The Jessimen pick was arguable worse but at least it happened before the lockout so it makes sense that he could've looked like a much better pick without all the changes that happened.
