Very honored you reacted to my video! Thanks for the kind words! You might not remember it but on June 27th 2021 I commented on your video, asking for critic of my channel ( I had around 800 subs at the time and didn’t expect you to oblige) and unbelievably you replied saying that my channel was a little all over the place and more advice. I was a little embarrassed, because you was right. But that was the day I privated All my unrelated videos to the niche I wanted to be in and spent the next 6 months researching youtubism and making better content I would be proud of people to see! Thanks to your proverbial kick in the butt! I kept following your lessons when you made Dude in a room and my subscribers have quadrupled. So any one reading this who Doubts his advice. @KillerKeeton Жыл бұрын
I’d argue that his videos are on the lower end of the clickbait spectrum compared to other anime KZbinrs. Anime Uproar used to never be click baity and then got so bad I unsubbed. Zhoniin has started getting kinda click baity but not too bad. I’m not subbed to a bunch of anime KZbinrs so there’s undoubtedly some that aren’t as click baity as Liam. I really like this guy's OP KZbinr videos, man really does his research and it genuinely feels like it comes from a good place: he talks about people he learned from and respects for that reason, even when he still has some criticisms, which seems really fair to me. It reminds me a bit of your own videos on other OP KZbinrs, but whereas you focus more on some specific aspects of the channel and why/how it works, he tries to give a more general view on the channel and its history, with a focus on the person behind the channel, which makes his videos also very distinct from yours and pretty unique. I just think that's a very cool concept and approach.
@piratediaries572 Жыл бұрын
I appreciate the compliment 🙏🏽 you pretty much nailed my approach to videos. I like to talk and make videos about the people and topics I find interesting. But I want to be able to be honest with my viewers about my opinions/critics. I have a different out look on analysis than Liam because I don’t have a résumé of building multiple successful channels like he does. But I do have an obsessive nature and have been addicted to KZbin since I was a kid. Iv very interested and obsessed with the journey of KZbinrs which is why a big focus on my channel is the history aspect. That way new fans can see what it took for their fav KZbinrs to get to where they are and also my advice to them of how they could stick around for a long time because I want everyone to succeed and “falling off” can happen to the biggest creators. I think being a KZbinr is the closest thing to be a pirate as you are free to create anything you want! and if you’re are lucky, one day you can make a career doing it! 🏴☠️ - Pirate Detective

@@piratediaries572 I get that, and I do think that translating your “obsession” over YT and the creators you’re interested in into videos such as the ones you make is a very cool and new and endearing way to make yourself a unique place in this otherwise over-saturated side of YT. Not to say that your YT channel is doomed to only speak about other people for the rest of its existence, but the moves you’re making right now seem good and smart to me (not that i know anything about anything lol, but I’m guessing telling creators why you appreciate their work and what you think they did good can be good too, maybe). I found your channel because i was looking for videos on Dracule Mihawk, one piece 101 had a Mihawk episode. The reason i stuck with you channel and became a consistent viewer was your audio quality and how well spoken, low energy and witty were. I dont always "watch" your videos, i sometimes just listen to the audio. Other youtubers didn't fit my taste because they would yell a lot and it just wasn't pleasant to listen to. Or they fell into the trap of rambling where i would just tune out and stop listening. Also, as far as humor, they're just not that witty or funny, they make low brow jokes that i come up with in two seconds in my head but aren't funny enough to justify saying out loud, then ten seconds later they say that same corny joke or pun. Your humor is genuinely funny and witty, the extremely dry delivery also amplifies how funny it is. They would make a bad pun in a goofy voice, linger on it and laugh. You just say your jokes you clearly took time to think about and write down, then just keep it moving as if whatever you said wasn't hilarious

Love from New York, I can definitely say that "goofy" is a malicious/demeaning way to call someone silly, can be equated to "silly and lame"/"stupid and lame," as a ubiquitous colloquialism, especially in schools, urban and suburban areas across the States and ESPECIALLY in rap culture. Goofy has been used as an insult as far back as probably before I've been born (1993).

26:45 i completely agree here. People on YT and in content creation in general seem to more and more take the position of "NEVER punch down; you have to ALWAYS punch up." I think this is stupid, especially because this allows smaller creators to not have to take accountability for their actions (even if they're completely wrong, or just being a douche for no reason) as long as they are "attacking" someone who has more of a following than them. If you are going to punch upward with all your might with your eyes closed, there should be no surprised pikachu faces when a giant fist returns the favor and comes back down to reciprocate; this is ESPECIALLY true if the person punching up isn't actually providing valid arguments or constructive criticism, but rather just perpetuating drama - whether that be because they believe the bigger creator isn't "allowed" to retaliate or just to prop up their own channels with petty drama (neither are valid reasonings). The whole mentality of never punch down needs to be thrown out and burned; it genuinely feels to me it was simply a "one size fits all" rule to address the fact that most people cannot understand context - or more likely - refuse to take the time to do so.

The gear 5th reveal finally proved that the whole story is about being goofy in the face of adversity

Honestly regarding the thumbnails the only one that stepped over the line was the recent traitor one. I do not give a shit about clickbait or spoilers in thumbnails but for spoilers you can’t make them too blatant or directly spoil stuff. Stuff like a chapter having Zoro do something and then having the thumbnail be Zoro with an enemy and the text “did Zoro just do that!?!?” Is perfectly fine because it hints to events that happened in the chapter but for people who haven’t read it for various reasons (like if they’re waiting for the official release), then all it tells them about the chapter is “oh Zoro did something cool/oh Zoro gets some focus this chapter”. With the recentish video you made when the traitor on Egghead was revealed blatantly showing who the traitor was in the thumbnail with the text “it was me” was just too much. It really upset me as an official only reader because I had been looking forward to this reveal. Especially because there were so many ways to avoid the problem without being “clickbaity” as you defended on Twitter, like having it being a shadow/silhouette or making the thumbnail that one panel of Vegapunk’s shocked eyes with text coming offscreen saying “it was me”. All that would spoil is that the traitor reveal happens in the chapter which isn’t a problem as long as it doesn’t reveal who the traitor is. It kinda sucked because I considered unsubscribing even though your one of my favourite content creators because I didn’t wanna be spoiled on major stuff like that. Anyway this was a nice video I really enjoyed it!
