Thanks Barry. I followed this strategy to the letter. Actually I only have 3 reviews though. Even so I have sold 50% of every click! Every 2 clicks 1 order! And I'm number 1 on page for my search terms I chose. I was so nervous when I set it up for 3 campaigns with same keywords for each. 1 went to $1.60 per click and $9 a day for each campaign. But I thought I'd try it and if it got too expensive I'd shut it down. Amazon never has used all my budget per day, not even close, exact and phrase weren't really getting clicks but broad match was so I just kept that. I just raised my book price by $1 and it's still doing well. Thanks for this, just sharing so others will give it a try and see good results too I hope. So thanks again!

Thanks for sharing your expertise Barry. I'm experimenting with ads right now. After running an auto campaign and gathering DATA(!) I decided to run 2 manual campaigns- 1 for keywords and one for targeting products. So far (this month) the targeted products campaign is performing approx twice as well as the keyword campaign. I feel I have kind of stumbled into this and wonder if you have any pointers to share about targeted product ads. 😊
@barrygeorgioukdp6 ай бұрын
Absolutely. Product campaigns can work very effectively especially if you have a great cover, a good amount of reviews and you show up on page 1 of the coursel on your competitors listing :)
@amybaker22475 ай бұрын
Brilliant video! Thank you for explaining the process. Quick question though - you discuss the importance of reviews, but how do you get those reviews? It's a bit of a catch 22; you need reviews to make sales, but you need sales to get reviews. Also, regarding keywords, could someone clarify something for me? So, the term 'keywords' seems to be used for different purposes; does it refer to the keywords you would use when setting up a manual campaign? Or do keywords refer to the ones you add in the back end when creating your book listing on KDP? Or both?
@barrygeorgioukdp4 ай бұрын
I use book review gathering websites to get reviews such as Pubby or Getbooksreviewed. As for keywords, there are different types. You can amazon ads keywords and backend keywords and SEO keywords. (A phrase or word that describes your book) They are all referred to as the same. A search term on the other hand is the exact phrase a customer types in the search bar to find your book :)

Very helpful, thanks. As someone outside the US, what account do you use to pay $ for ads? I'm in the UK and I guess revolut, wise, or similar would work? I just read someone said they received their royalties in $ as well. Mine is automatically converted to £ by Amazon for all marketplaces. Am I losing money doing that? I don't know what conversion rate they're using. Thanks.
@barrygeorgioukdp5 ай бұрын
I think those banks work for ads and to receive your royalties. They are automatically converted I believe but I'm not an expert on the bank side of things or the currency conversion. Hopefully someone can reply to this comment with more experience on this subject :)
@2ndhalfyoutuber4 ай бұрын
If you set up an USD account number (from your wise account) with Amazon for getting the royalties then it won’t be converted to GBP. You can give Amazon more than one currency accounts.

Hi. Just discovered you today as I'm coming back to retry KDP again after a long pause. Great explanations, great value. You earned a new sub. But at the end of the video, you talk about an "ad strategy that you shared in "the community." I thought this ad strategy you share right here was the good one. Do I have to forget this one and search for that ad that you shared "in the community ?" Are there 2 different strategies ? I mean, I know from experience KDP is time consuming sometimes, so I'd like to be on the right path right away, not going sideways... Thank you.

Now I'm waiting for my coloring book to be approved and I'll try this strategy immediately after the book is published. Now I need to enter keywords into the ads and think about the daily budget. The price is not too high, so I have a problem with predicting. How long does it take to choose the type of campaign? Will the data from one week be reliable? Or do we have to wait a month?
@barrygeorgioukdp20 күн бұрын
That sounds exciting. The process of advertising isn't based on time frame it's based on amount of data collected. My book can collect 200 clicks in a week while another book can collect 1,000 clicks in a week. It depends on data not time :)

I think I'll try the fixed bids strategy for low-content. however I'm interested why do you use fixed bids instead of for example using increased % bids for top-of-search results? Sees to me a more flexible strategy with more or less the same results.

Very nice video! 16:39 You mention 4 keywords. Is it okay to have 4 keywords only generally? I mean, if these are the only keywords that are "hyper" is it okay or it's better to find more keywords? Also, what if a book is a fiction book? These keywords are way too general and I'm not sure what keywords I can put there in the future, because I'm planning on a fiction book. For example, if it's a horror book. It's not a specific non-fiction book that it's about "how to draw" so you have the keyword. It's a story.. what kind of keywords can fit on a fiction books? "Horror story" etc? I'm very skeptical on the ads part with a fiction book because it's my first time going for a high content book and I'm confused with the keywords. I can't come up with keywords on how to promote such a book with ads. Or if it's a fairytale for kids for example..
@barrygeorgioukdp6 ай бұрын
This strategy is the most targeted strategy which will bring traffic that is most likely to convert. If you have more general keywords I would assume you have a larger budget and you will most likely have a lower conversion rate so less effective traffic. For fiction books I think product campaigns can work effectively :)

I always think how you get views and sale just for $5. Especially when you talk only about the wide and competitive niches. There are no niches with high sv and low competition (unless you want to make a “notebook for a son of the preacher man” but I can bet it doesn’t have more than 5 searches for month). I set bid higher than suggested and for example“Christmas books for kids” or “dogs book” I have 5 views. For subniche keywords 0. For 5$ I can have 4 clicks. So how to index a book without thousands of dollars for ads when the titles that are selling pay these thousands to be everywhere?
@barrygeorgioukdp2 ай бұрын
The secret is not to find low supply niche, it's to create a better book than the competition. This can be visually or information wise. That's the first step to highly profitable ads
