This is so true. Also I was reading about her children the other day after making the horrific realization that she had children and one of her daughters was admitted to a mental asylum which abused her and traumatized her while she was only age 13, and the “reason” was because she was “being rebellious and cutting herself” so she was abused long term by strangers because her mother felt like the right thing to do was send her child away to be mistreated instead of just, idk, trying to talk to her child and help her through the dark period in her life? Anyways. I'm so tired of all these narcissistic gen x/baby boomer comedians blaming the audience for not finding their newer material as funny. It almost feels like the audience is forced to laugh, otherwise the comedian accuses the audience of being "stupid" or "overly sensitive" just for not liking a joke? Then they also manipulate their audience and say that their freedom of speech is being taken away or that they're being "cancelled" while Netflix is giving them deals and they sob into their $100 bills in front of us. It just seems like their parents told them that they were special as children and are confused as to why not all their jokes are laughed at. They blame cancel culture, but I think the real problem is their ego.

She used to be a sobering face of the common man and now, well, we watched the video. By the end of it, I was afraid the suicide note bit was about to end with an actual suicide. She's a trainwreck now and I hope she can find some kind of peace sooner rather than later.

Rosanne was actually one of my fav shows as a kid, and still love it. I also enjoy the Connors, maybe not as much but it still is very cozy feeling. The original was so important for many people, it was real and they were poor/lower middle class. Most shows were all upper middle class "perfect" families. She fought for that, and was a good voice for the people who get forgotten, now she is everything she hated back then. It sucks, so many childhood people I enjoyed turned into bitter cruel angry people. But then also blame us for also being frustrated at the world, but actually trying to make it better. Also now we are as a whole class wise much worse off than when the show was originally ended as well.

Roseanne has been this way since the 90s, she has always been a trainwreck. I remember watching the news for a lot of what she’s done. Grabbing her crotch and spitting while singing the Star-Spangled Banner on national tv in 1990, Lying about being an inc*st survivor in while high on numerous drugs in 91, referring to a POC as an “ape” etc etc I saw her in the thumbnail and thought “here we go again” It’s really sad because, being a young Jewish girl in the 90s, I loved watching her. I always thought Roseanne Barr (at least the one portrayed in the show) was a strong confident woman that I wanted to be like, being in a barely-making-it lower middle class family myself it made me feel represented. She’s just very mentally ill and has been for decades. “You can’t just make up new pronouns!” We make up new words all the time. Because languages are constantly evolving. If a word is used widely enough with the same meaning, it becomes an actual word in its respective language. Some recent examples in the English language are the verbs “to yeet” and “to rickroll” (written in the infinitive). If there isn’t a word in your language to describe something you’d like to describe, you can literally just make one up! Shakespeare did it all the time, and he’s remembered as one of the greatest writers the English language ever had, lol

Does non binary mean you don't have a sense of humor.
@candyh4284 Жыл бұрын
@@SuperTed. no it means you identify beyond the "traditional" gender binary of man/woman, whether that be because you identify varyingly, as in someone who is two-spirit or, if you're not native, genderfluid, or don't identify with gender at all, as in someone who's agender, or identify with a "third gender" like genderqueer. people who are nonbinary can be of any sex, whether that be male, female, or intersex, and nobody denies that reality, but we don't use our biological sex for most things, pretty much only going to the doctors. gender, instead, is the ideology built on top of material sex, which assigns roles to people based on biological features, declaring that someone is a man if they're born with a penis or a woman if they're born with a vagina. this might make sense if you ignore the fact that so much of "man" and "woman" are completely social characteristics - there is no "better at parenting" gene that females have, and there is no "likes beer and football" gene that males are born with. Simone de Beauvoir, a French philosopher, once said that "One is not born a woman, but rather becomes one." Consider this - if you looked at a baby born with XX chromosomes, pointed at it and said "that's a woman," you'd feel pretty silly and wrong, right? because those chromosomes isn't what makes you a woman, it's your gender performance and identity, which only comes to be established with age. consider this as well - when you walk down the street and someone with long hair, makeup, 5'0" tall, feminine voice, pronounced chest and thick hips, is she a woman? well, if gender is the same thing as sex, you have no way of knowing that, because the only way to TRULY know your sex is to get your chromosomes tested. that woman could, ostensibly, be someone with XY chromosomes and an inactive or mutated SRY gene, and they would look exactly the same. so gender, then, has to be more than sex, or you would never know anyone's gender without taking them to the doctor's first. and at that point, why even bother with it?

After a few minutes I was in stitches and my legs started to give out, causing me to fall to the floor, crying. Someone nearby asked me if I was okay, to which I responded by showing them the video. They immediately roared with laughter. Their face contorted into painful and inhuman shapes. Eventually a whole crowd surrounded around us worried about our condition, only to hear the video which was now playing on loop. Tens of people were now on the floor, reduced to mindless animals whose only goal was to laugh. I grew up watching Rosanne in the 90's. So I remember when she was at her height, though I was a child. The show was actually pretty based in a working class kind of way the last time I watched early episodes. It was about the struggles of working class life in midwestern town that had little love for the petite bourgeois owner/managerial classes or conservative politics of 1980s austerity. So interestingly and ironically she was a white boomer working class hero when the show originally came out. Eventually her character became the owner/manager, and then they jumped the shark with the lottery thing. Regardless that was the aspect of the show that you wouldn't guess by who she is now. It really goes to show that people just really become something completely different. We constantly change, so I have to make sure to keep my view solid for graceful ageing. Money seems to rot people's brains, but I know that there's the necessity to have it. I'm unfortunately a relatively unskilled early xillennial enby trans femme, so I doubt money will be in my future. Lucky me, I get to stay principled.
@Arosukir6 Жыл бұрын
This is legit one of my biggest worries in life. That I'll become embittered by the world or exhausted by the struggle to the point of leaning conservative. I fear success and have a tendency toward self-sabotage because like, what if having money means I'll become a selfish, out-of-touch prick? Who will I become if I lose my way for the sake of money or convenience or ease? There's hope though! There are folks like Angela Davis, Bernie Sanders, the late Terry Pratchett and Betty White, and many others who have managed to hold onto the same values (and even evolved into better ones) decade after decade. So hopefully as long as we try to stay self-aware we'll be okay! So here's hoping for success for the both of us!

Mental illness seems to be a factor. She has been open about being diagnosed with PTSD and bipolar in the past. Not that those cause conservative thinking, but who knows what's going on with her mentally. As hurtful as her statements are, I'm rather concerned.

I don't think you need to worry too much, what seems to have affected Roseanne is most likely a form of dementia or Alzheimer's disease, both of which cause profound alterations in personality and behavior. It's quite sad seeing how confused she is and how often she forgets what she was supposed to say. Her slurred speech is also very prominent. It's easy to chalk it all up to alcohol abuse but I heavily suspect that it's in fact some form of neurodegenerative disease

I'm almost 60 and I loved the Roseanne show. I watched it religiously and still watch the re-runs whenever I can. Being born the last year of the boomers (1964) I can honestly say, I feel sometimes like I have nothing in common with boomers. They've turned into a bunch of hate filled, conspiracy believing, complaining, Trump lovers (not all but many) while I have become more liberal as I've become older. I guess there's so many reasons why someone would grow more hateful instead of more empathetic and I can't understand the need to hold onto the hate. I'm hoping that my 2 millennial children will stay just as liberal as they are now as they get older. So sad to see Roseanne this way.

You know a person peaked in high school when they have to bring up they were known for their abilities in football/cheerleading. Football hero in high school and that is the summary of who her father was in life, I just can't lmfao

12:35 When i heard this i noticed the strain on her voice like she was holding back tears and I honestly feel bad for her based on the context. It seems like she was molested and was psychically punished because of it and now is forced to believe it's her fault.

14:09 her stuff about suicide is particularly painful for me because Geroge Carlin had a segment in his final special on suicide and it's one of the funniest fucking things I've ever seen. This concept has been done so much better.

I genuinely feel bad cause she clearly fell hard; this was not a stand up special, this was a cry for help

I remember seeing ads for this special all over tv and youtube and like... Why the fuck did they shoot it like she was a supervillain? They had her bathed in Shadow, she asked some weird question in a very threatening or at least Ominous way as the camera panned up... And then she just laughs maniacally?

She made a Tiktok about water refracting making a rainbow ranting about “what are they putting in the water” like rain doesn’t do the same thing.

People don't even remember that Roseanne was once a feminist firebrand and I get bummed out seeing her going the racist auntie route.
