When i was a kid, I didn't know the difference between battlenet and open battlenet. My friends and I all played open Bnet without LOD expansion. We would all hang out in games and beg for free hacked items without realizing that they were just hero edited singleplayer items. I remember getting charms without having the expansion, they would show up as an empty inventory slot but would show the stats when you mouse over them in your inv. One of my friends actually fried his moms computer by trying to download programs to make his own hacked items. +99 to all skills items with huge bonuses to exp gained. I remember having tons of level 99 characters. There were often hacked games that would allow you to edit your own character through chat commands.

Bowazon was and is still my favorite thing in D2. It's just so damn satisfying to launch wave after wave of death across the screen, and I gotta say, the OG amazon in her iconic gear is peak fantasy aesthetic that I sorely miss in D2R.

i just remember a guy trying to mule a full inventory of occy rings in a1 stony warp of one of my playthrough games (i was in a3 maybe when he joined?) and finding the stash before he had time to reconnect. i picked up 90% of them by the time he rejoined and got to me with his mule and man he was pissed. The items were sweet but his rage was the sweetest. Live by the sword die by the sword.

Holy shit, my dad used to tell me about Imp Shank boots when I was like 11. I had never seen a pair but he used to always tell me that they were some of the most rare boots in the game. Seeing that name/boot unlocked a core memory for me.

Imp Shanks were just pre-LoD boots with a very good roll (only 20FHR though). Valk wing is also legit, and 1.07/1.08 Gaze always had 25% DR. The "ith" items were created by somehow emptying the sockets of a runeword. Back then, the stats from the runeword (not the runes themselves) would be retained. The armor you showed was a Lionheart runeword. Silence was another common candidate. How occy rings, bugged tal armor, wiz spike gloves or steelclash gloves happened, I don't know, but they were around when I used to play. The "Siggard's Stealth" belt is bugged/hacked, and just followed suit when the unique changed name to make room for the new nos coil belt. This is the only case where an item changes name and becomes another item due to changes in a newer patch. Lots and lots of items have been changed, and changed more dramatically, but they didn't get new names.

Played d2 for 15+ years. played d2r season 1 for a good bit and just tried coming back to it a few days ago. Honestly they need more changes with items. Everything is cookie cutter builds. Mods like Pd2 make the game have more longevity and excitement.

I do remember when 1.10 came there was a big cleaning of those hacked items, but unfortunatly not all of them. Some remained and made the game freeze if you howered the mouse over them making the character unusable. What remained after the purge was bugged armor (Tals armor with other mods), Bug belt (originaly Nos coil but renamed Siggard's stealth in the 1.10 patch, well all .09 nos coils where renamed to siggard's stealth as I also had a 09 nos coil in my collection back in the day. Also steelclash gloves where a thing that remained after the purge.

Sweet Philly is off on these items but it's close enough to make a point. 1.08 and 1.09 were the days. Occy rings and Armageddon Fletch amulet were amazing for OG Nova sorcs. I kept a Fletch alive for years but I eventually lost it to an expired character. :/ He didn't have multiple 99s on BNET either. Maybe in Single player with mods or hacks, but no one cares about SP. Even with the hacked items there were no terror zones and 99 still took weeks / months. No one did multiple 99s on BNET back then. Even with BNET hacked items getting to 99 took way longer than it does now with TZs. WAY LONGER. Also the Zons in 1.08 and 1.09 were hybrid BOWAVAZONS both bow and javs. Them and Nova sorcs were the Cow Killers back then. Also those small charms were not in US East. This is a nice video but it's CNN when it comes to facts. Love ya Sweet Philly but this had to be addressed.

i remember bvalor, ccb's, oculus rings. Then people started hackng LoD items into classic non-LoD servers. The classic servers had their own sets of uber rare quality dupes like Cruel Visage, Wraith Shell, SOUL SCRATCH, gale thirst. So many awesome pieces back then. Wild wild west of d2

Man back in the day someone gave me a jewel that gave 7 to all skills, spells, and stats. I duped them and put them in six socketed items and had a necro that could kill almost anything in pvp and all of the monsters as well I didn't know about ubers back then so I never fought them. 2003 Era lol. I started playing in patch 1.08 i remember when they cleaned a lot of the bugged and duped stuff in 1.09 that was when 290s and 32020s seemed to be introduced and that replaced duped sojs. Then they cleared those out in 1.10 i think that was when they introduced dclone if im not mistaken? Annis were super expensive. But those were some good times

imp shanks were a classic dupe, we used to use duped amulets/rings/boots, etc. amulets used to spawn with 2+/2+ character skills too (like 2+sorceress/2+barbarian on same amulet back then) Lance barbs were very popular too, i miss classic before LoD. Game was really fun.

I got C's in high school because of this game BUT I'm very good at percent-based math thanks to this game too. I could be wrong, it is along time ago. but i believe the bow itself is legit and not hacked. it was just duped to all hell. you could make it by re-rolling magic items in the cube with 3 chipped jewels. i remember selling a cruel colossus blade back in the day i made myself for 100$.

you had to put the amazon with smite added and aura stacking thorn, i used to have townkill and also the program where your whole loots would fall on the ground when you die so i would skull right when you join and kill you then loot yo ass but then people started making bugged items so when they di to town and you pick it up it would crash the game lmao good old times

we need them to fix Multi-Shot it no longer uses knock back the same way it use to. Every arrow use to carry knock back when you had KB on your gear but now its only the 2 center arrows of the multi-shot that cause KB. even just having that fixed would make the amazon so much better.

My first was with a Barb too, hell was rough decades ago. I hacked my character, ended up just Stuffing every fix n mode i could into every item, didnt know what i was doing. My FRW was So fast it would glitch my dial up and crash the game if i held down run click, had to take it in short strides. My aura and "when hit skill" especially would spawn a bunch of random skills from all characters (so blizzard, novas, etc, you could pick whatever and how many). It was the 4th of july of colors and glitching. I would go hostile and dual and people would die instantly trying to get theyr body, some people wouldn't leave and keep trying because they thought they would lose all theyr gear 😂. I was such a little a$$ back then, it stemmed from all the hard lessons i learned from D2 trades and politics i didnt have the luxury of looking up.

Boots were legit in classic if i remember well. The only glitched item i could get my hand on was btal, i had it for 1 day before it poof away. My favorite glitches/exploit was the uber duriel wp exploit and the uber mephisto xp gain with a bone necro imo

You can actually still get all of the legit 1.07/1.08/1.09 items just by installing the old patches. You can also forward these items to D2R, examples such as Arkaine’s and Shako.
