''Early 80s is when the big corporate gyms started to come around, they didn't like us in there, they didn't let us use chalk, took the good bars and squat racks out. I started seeing there was a need for this, especially if I wanted to keep training and reach my own goals. It created that hardcore atmosphere and comradery among us all.'' -Brian Dobson #NotLikeTheRest

God understands that young men want to get buff and strong (Proverbs 20:29 The glory of young men is their strength). One of the secrets to having good strength is the following (Proverbs 31:3 Do not give your strength to women, nor your ways to that which destroys kings.); so, stay away from fornication, pornography, touching women, lust, drunkenness, drugs, lying, stealing etc. But you can make all the gains in the world and lose allot of it weeks after you stop training. (That’s why the Bible says1 Timothy 4: 8 For bodily exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come) So also focus on eternity. Jesus died for all our sins and rose from the dead (only God can do that) Repent and Believe in Him today to get into heaven. Your thoughts?

Been there 5 times myself. Same experience. The first time was awe inspiring and my workout sucked. I was too caught up in the place. But the second to 5th were amazing. It is as basic and simple a place can be. No frills. Equal chances of getting tons of muscle as there is getting tetanus. Lots of old rusty equipment. Duct tape. Chalk. Dried blood. True old school hardcore training in the dungeon! This reminded me of Total Fitness in New Orleans, Louisiana and a Gold's Gym I trained in Phoenix, Arizona back in the days! Let's go! Big Chest! Big Legs! Push! I love it!!!!! In this kind of environment proper form is sometimes obsolete.😎 LOL

Genuine question. I absolutely love going all out every time I'm in the gym, going as heavy as possible without a major form break, etc., but like, how do you make that sustainable? You can do pyramid sets going from 15 reps to 12 reps, to 10, 80, 5, 3, 2, 1 increasing the weight on each set, then going back down. Push, pull, legs split, 6 days in the week. It was cool when I had just started going to the gym, but when you're at an intermediate or even advanced level, how the fuck do you go all out on any exercise multiple times a week for months and years? Steroids until your body falls apart? 2000 calories surplus? Crazy advanced recovery routines? Just go until your body drops dead?

Read the periodization bible from Dave Tate and listen to the Pavel Tsatsouline podcast with Joe Rogan. Use those concepts and figure out what works with your body. It’s definitely not going to be going all out 6 days a week indefinitely (at least in the way you may think “all out” means). You need the same intensity for a stretch/ recovery day that you do for a max deadlift day

I’ve noticed insane gains when i started training explosively on chest, get more reps quicker and try more weight rather than always “making the weight feel heavy” Also same results on back and legs but still most gains on chest since it was my biggest weak point

Increased reps at a slighter lighter weight always gave me better results. No point in ego lifting in the gym, that doesn’t get you results.
@deltlord8745
@deltlord8745 2 жыл бұрын
@@matty6848 hmm well that’s good, and depends what you call ego lifting, gotta create a lot of muscle stress as you’re years into training to create growth, literally supersets dropsest, forced reps extra sets and so on is the only way to grow. The typical 8-12 reps is Bs. What I meant is that actually demolishing the chest with forced reps and more volume overall helped me grow
@matty6848
@matty6848 2 жыл бұрын
@@deltlord8745 well for me increased reps at a higher rate has worked for me, but that’s my experience you may have had different? I’ve tried the super heavy lifting and tbh had little results, but since doing more reps at lighter weight I’ve had better results. But I’m no5 in the pursuit of sheer size, more classic physique look which I prefer. However if your looking for the mass look obviously lifting heavier will do it..

@@deltlord8745 Couldn't have agreed more people say ego lifting are the same ones that say 45mins plus is over training and most of them look like out of shape gym teachers and I love drop sets and super sets I find the best way to lift heavy and get a good pump is to do something heavy and if you burn out around 10 reps drop set and Rep it out till failure

I wish I could train with this intensity, but I'll get injured. Everytime I find an injury or niggling pain, it's when I've reached a new weight. My right forearm with 25kg DB curl, my left shoulder/bicep tendons on chest exercises, my knees heavy leg pressing. I guess this is what being natural is like in the late 20s.

The body was not designed to take that sort of abuse. Eventually the body will rebel. Disabilitating injuries and early death is a consequence of " train harder than last time". All the chemicals they pump in their bodies make them feel superhuman, but they are far from it. No thank you. Steve Reeves level of development is enough for me. Training longevity must be the goal of every lifter.
