@@xenos_n. I agree. I believe most Korn fans would as well, and it was when they sounded like a well oiled machine. The studio engineering was next level compared to their first two albums. Contrast that with Limp Bizkit. TDBY wasn’t their commercial peak, but to me, their sound and style peaked on that first album. I think the studio polish of Sig Other and future releases took them the wrong direction. Then again, they are multi platinum artists and I’m commenting on YT.

I watched a video of Pantera playing in Philly in 99. I watched the intro like 13 times bc it was so simple, but so badass. They just kinda meander onto the stage nonchalantly and Phil just goes, “we’re Pantera”, then turns back and points to Vinnie and says, “play that shit”. Then they immediately explode into Domination and just go crazy. So simple and so badass. Love it.

Normally that wouldn’t have been an issue, but I had already cut class Monday-Wednesday so I felt it was a bad idea. Damn do I regret it! NIN in a 500’ish room club for $10, with nickel beers (gotta clear the old kegs for the weekend), and I pussed out. 😢 Kids, you only live once. When opportunity rises, take it!

Important note for Bat Country: the video is based on the plot and ideals of the early 70’s novel "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas". The main character in book binges on tons of psychoactive (hallucinogenic) drugs and the resulting trip lasts several days. Since Bat Country is about the ups and downs of a psychoactive experience, the novel is a perfect fit for the song.

The Bat County video is fear and loathing in Las Vegas the metal version. Glad you mentioned it have to play that song full blast whenever it comes on and can picture the video even if it’s on the radio

On the note of November Rain, I think the rain during the wedding scene was metaphorical for a drive-by shooting. In the scene where shes in the casket, only half her face is shown, with the other half being covered by a vertical mirror which is what morticians sometimes do if theres damage to the head/face and the family wants the option of an open casket funeral

It's funny you'd mention the intro to Seven as another example of that industrial sound being defined - that literally is Coil's remix of Closer called Closer (Precursor).

"One" prompted me to read "johnny got his gun". I was in the 11th grade. Very intense book! The copy I read had zero punctuation and zero capitalizing of letters....so that on top of the topic of the book was kind of mind blowing for me as a 16 year old....

Greg Capullo drew the follow the leader album cover. He did pencils for Spawn for about 8 years, great artist and his own mini series The Creech was awesome.

Th3 guy who did the opening mini film of se7en is probably the best in the game at it, he did Girl With The Dragon Tattoo as well, and with the NIN remix its a movie in itself

What always puzzled me the most about the November Rain video is that the bride is at Axl´s bachelor party...

Pantera performing Domination live in Moscow is not the official or unofficial music video for the Domination song. It is just a live performance that was cut from the Monsters of Rock concert. Pantera sang another 3 songs in that concert of which you can easily find the videos on youtube: Primal Concrete Sledge, Psycho Holiday and Cowboys From Hell. The Domination video is not the music video because it was not played anywhere at that time, it could just be found on the DVDs with the Monsters of Rock and I think also on a Pantera Home Video DVD. It became popular only since KZbin. No MTV, no nothing

Interesting not to see Linkin Park's In the End in here. Not to say that it holds up, but it most definitely was one of the most influential green screen "supernatural" "settings" that was eventually replicated by tons of bands, including themselves, in the genre/adjacent genres, esp among scene/metalcore bands (I'd argue a very good example of a well-produced continuation of that video style is Falling in Reverse's Zombified).
