Cobra Rhodes used to say “you can’t pin a guy until you can pin a guy” that sounds dumb at first but it’s incredibly true. You need control, there are times in armwrestling where you might have their hand back, but can’t get their arm down, there are times where you might match their arm strength, but you just can’t get the pin. In other words, you have to take the things you need to finish the match. You can’t pin a guy until you can pin a guy.

@@troytueller9992 wise words indeed. Keep searching until you have all the pieces needed to finish. Climb, shoulder, supination, speed, fatigue. They're all pieces of the puzzle

I think this is situationally true. It depends on the ratio of your hand to arm strength and of your opponent's and their strengths relative to you. In general, not cracking your own wrist back with surging too early, not just off the go, but before you can finish them in general is very good advice.

Great points. There are definitely some situations where someone might just be able to muscle through an opponent if they have enough of an advantage with bicep, sidepressure

Great advice! Ive been making this mistake recently aswell. Find if im patient and let them surge first like you mentioned im able to secure my cup and pronation and at that point it doesnt matter if im on his side i can usually swing from that side straight to the pad if i have hand control

Speed can be a weapon, but hand control can bring you back from nearly every position :)

You almost every match took a high grip to a top roll, but after the go you lost your riser. Why you didn't grip lower to low hand the first place? Don't you think your riser is a weakness?
@armwrestlingprofessor
@armwrestlingprofessor 2 ай бұрын
@@17aladdin this is why I hate the name "low hand" because lowering your hand is going to make the technique way harder! You need to get your thumb UP as high as possible. Imo it should be called a high thumb toproll. You only lower your riser enough to not cover thumb knuckles. I use a lot of riser in my high thumb toproll, even if it might not look like that

Awesome video . but what is hand control to you ? And what is the hand to you ? I’ve heard lots use these terms but I think many are talking about many different things .
@armwrestlingprofessor
@armwrestlingprofessor 3 ай бұрын
@@jacobneuman6161 to me, hand control means you have locked your opponent off from gaining ground. This means you have more pronation than they have cup and more cup than they have pronation. If you don't have control over both, then your opponent can gain ground in one of them, like what was happening in the first match of this video

Why don’t you recommend the todd roll ? If you just practice it can’t you make it work if you’re forced into it ?
@armwrestlingprofessor
@armwrestlingprofessor 3 ай бұрын
@@jacobneuman6161 maybe it's possible, I'll be honest I haven't really given it a proper shot. In my experience in practise it only really works against people significantly weaker. The only reason Todd does it is because he's forced into it, he'd ideally rather get his cup in (don't wanna speak for him but I'd imagine that's the case). Generally speaking it's always better to fight to get hand, rather than just sending it backward and sideways. You'll be more guaranteed to get a victory if you manage it

@@armwrestlingprofessor Yeah, I agree. Honestly, I would never intentionally go there lol and you’re right dude todd is the only one that I know that does this lol.
