I would have never thought I would see this topic on KZbin Fitness. About two months ago I started waking up 3x a night to pee and it was affecting me. I started researching and stumbled upon a weak pelvic floor being the culprit (I’m 52). I started doing Kegels at my work desk, which is an isometric hold of the pelvic floor like holding your pee as you described. The results were insane. Within a week I barely needed to pee as often during the day and night. I started waking up to an erection which hadn't happened to me in years, and the hemorrhoids I’d developed from years of straining at the gym went away completely. I know most of your viewers are younger but this is important. All that breathing and bracing from years of lifting essentially made my pelvic floor muscles go dormant. Kegels woke them up and increased blood flow to my penis. Crazy I know. I still wake up at night but it's not to pee so I’m still working on that issue still but glad I fixed my pelvic floor as it helped in other areas.
@jfprizzy27 күн бұрын
Great to hear! Do you also work on not only the contraction but also pushing out to relax the muscle to ensure it isn’t always in a contracted state; essentially full range of motion for the pelvic floor muscle? How many sets and reps did you do and how often per week did you train it?
@JeeYaoKuneDo26 күн бұрын
Thanks for sharing that - and congrats! Those muscles not visible in the mirror need love, too. This post is a note to self to pay it forward (M35).

I'm actually confused here a little bit as English is not my first language and I also is not that good in exercise/bracing my core. What I want to ask is, basically just because we are bracing for heavy lifting, eventually the pelvic floor got weakened?
@AlexLifts197126 күн бұрын
@@andekhalffreeze926 yes I think that’s what it is. I am off the belief that the pelvic floor and Gluth minimus are two muscles that “fall asleep” due to the other muscles, taking over such as your quad hamstrings and core in a lot of lower body movements.

I've only worked my pelvic floor the other way around (pushing out) as I take massive dumps. It certainly impacts a lot as, much like the spine) it also pulls down on everything, even up to your diaphragm. Making the effort to move these muscles, from the pelvic floor, the Transversus Abdominals (vacuuming or pulling the core in instead of pushing out) and diaphragm (depending on how you breathe, do the opposite), certainly helped with how my bones sat in place and muscles activated naturally. Don't forget your working out your inner muscles as you focus on your outer muscles. Your body is just one series of big levers and pulleys. If they move in one direction, move it on the opposite direction as well.
