QUESTIONS OVER HINDU PUSH UP - READ THIS COMMENT I see a lot of comments over the Hindu Push Up term and on the push up we are sharing. So I wanted to answer them here. Plus you’ll also see some Cool Hindu Training in the videos I share below :) First, from the experts we’ve studied, the push up we show in the video is not a true Hindu push-up and we would be criticized for calling it that. As I’ll show below, it is slightly different. However, it is very similar. And that’s why, for those who missed it, @0:53, we say at the beginning "as you can see this is VERY SIMILAR to the Hindu Push Up but with a few modifications" To clarify, here’s some extra background on the Hindu Push Up: The "Hindu Push Up" term itself can be a little misleading because there are technically several different Hindu Push Up Variations. These are specifically called Dand's and there are 12 of them. Which if you haven’t checked them out before, each Dand is unique, entertaining to watch, and can be powerful exercises for fitness. Many are demonstrated here by World Renowned Guru Swami Ramdev: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qIjGm6eNrrxjjKc & KZbinr Versatile Shubham: kzbin.info/www/bejne/enzdi5-OmJh4oNE The popularized Hindu Push Up in the west is commonly derived from either the Sadharan Dand or Ram Murti Dand As you can see in the video demonstrations above these two are similar but slightly different technique and forms are used. Here are several examples demonstrating the Hindu Push Up or Dand from many native Indians, ranging from Yoga Gurus, Instructors, and Athletes. World Famous Yoga Guru and Authority, Baba Ramdev demonstrating the Dand’s “Hindu Push Ups” kzbin.info/www/bejne/r2W8e3ymZZx2hNU kzbin.info/www/bejne/pKGnn2itapqod9U Hindu Push Up Montage Performed by Indians (worth a watch just for the music and editing): kzbin.info/www/bejne/gqm1YpukrJmSh5Y - Hindu Push Up Tutorial by Indian Bharat Yogi: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fHe6p4WCi8eMo5o Hindu Push Ups performed for Indian try out: kzbin.info/www/bejne/m4GtemCwhpeHn7c Hindu Push Ups Performed by Indian Wrestlers: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nnmydX-Vq7iHnZo As you can see the techniques are quite unique… The elbows/forearms don’t make contact with the ground. If they do it is very lightly and not a focused position, like in ours. You will also see the pace and rhythm is fast & quick. There is a strong emphasis on the hip thrust. Also a strong arch with the back. And focused head movement looking through the shoulders and towards the sky. And many cases they will reverse back in the same motion. The push up we demonstrate in the video is performed at a slower, controlled tempo. It places clear and strong emphasis on the forearm placement on the ground. We do not arch as much with the back. And the version we trained with the Yamakasi, we applied an additional push up at the end, as demonstrated in the Ninja version. So we could have called this a Hindu Push up, however, from my understanding, for a true Hindu Push Up or Ram Murti/Sadharan Dand, it would be wrong to say that they are the exact same from the Push Up we demonstrate in this video. And this comes back to what was mentioned at the beginning of the video - ”This is very similar to the Hindu push up but with a few modifications" If we were to film a video on the "Hindu Push Up" we would go into more of the details shared above and more of the history/origin. However, this push up is what we learned form training with the Yamakasi, it's similar to the Hindu Push Up but slightly different. And the focus was more on the Yamakasi's story and influence. However, we made sure to give reference to the Hindu Push Up due to the similarity. PS: In the past I have found a couple of trainers who teach the "Hindu push up" with an emphasis or step using the forearms. This is a minority and I would say a modified version as well of the true Hindu push up or Sadharan Dand / Ram Murti Dand If you want to add to the conversation, fun facts, corrections with what I listed above, or videos, feel free to comment below!

I can do about 40 pushups, or 4 sets of 30 in a half hour. But that bending the elbows and pushing through.....to the sort of bended arm low plank,......just collapse....haha, even at the beginner level. Any sort of transition move? The usual Hindu pushup just goes from straight arm downward dog, to modified cobra pose, like you do in the video...but without bending the elbows and lowering down.

Here's the secret , combine it with the archer push up and match both in repetition non stop. Archer first. The full combo is with handstand push up but not everyone is able to do so , for this one you will need a complete muscular balance function in your arms to lift you upsidedown

Registered yoga teacher watching this! It's great to see a version of chaturanga dendasana in your practice. Just be careful when you're transitioning from elbows to low plank to not lower chest and shoulders below 90 degrees. Doing so dumps weight into deltoids and can result in over stretching and strain. As long as you're elbows are tucked in close to your sides and your back is nice and straight you will still get the full effect of the pushup. The goal shouldn't be to get close to the ground, it should be to remain at 90 degrees for more reps. Awesome video!

Hey guys, thank you so much for all of your hard work and dedication to us viewers. I have a herniated disc in my lower back and due to this I have had to stop training for over a year. It also is affecting me at work, and I serve gelato at a restaurant in Manhattan. Do you have any suggestions that will help me get back on track?
@TappBrothers5 жыл бұрын
Ben Jackson I’m sorry to hear about your back! Herniated disc is no joke. But I know of some people that can come back from them. I can’t give medical advice, I’m not a doctor but for anything related to back pain or strengthening the back, I always direct people towards Dr. Stuart McGill. He’s awesome. He gives great stretches and exercises to prevent or fix problems with the back and core. Many people have gotten amazing results by following his advice. I’d recommend getting his book “Back Mechanic” here - www.amazon.com/Back-Mechanic-Stuart-McGill-2015-09-30/dp/B01FKSGJYC . I went through it a few years ago and it changed the way I look at core training and back pain. It will be a fantastic resource for you and may be exactly what you need to get the relief your looking for. If not, you’ll still learn a lot.

FAI / For anyone's information - This type of pushup has its' origin in many cultures . The "cat stretch" has been used in the traditions of Chinese kung fu and Tai Chi - India - Korean Hwa Rang - Japan - Okinawa - Indonesia etc. If you love yourself , learn this method . If you love someone else , teach them this method . Older people with chronic back pain benefit significantly . Great video .

In the first couples minutes I was thinking "you should add a regular pushup in there to increase the range of muscle recruitment" and then 60 seconds later you said to do that. Kudos. A thought: if you put the added pushup in before the "arch," then it affords you the ability to flow from the arch (the 2nd pushup) into the transition and the downward dog while maintaining the mobility and coordination required to go from hips down to hips in downward dog position. Good work!

I want other workouts and training like this the founders did. It seems like sacred knowledge now a days its all about sticking jumps no matter the size and flip pres, tricking, etc. Not many athletes train the way the founders did and strengthen their body and mind and spend more time doing that than training.

To the commentors: This is almost similar to a Hindu push-up except for the elbow to the floor part. Did you even watch the whole video? Check 0:53

watch that and tell me who is lying? - kzbin.info/www/bejne/q3iukoJ_gNGaq8U because proper hindu is with those elbows on the floor, its a just mass missunderstanding that the proper hindu is without the "sphinx"
@ArmouredAlmond5 жыл бұрын
@@4dhord it is a variation. it is one video of the many I've seen. the elbow to floor version is a variation according one of the commenters on a different video and is also known as Rammurti dand. I used to do Hindu pushups when I was young, and I'm from India as well.

I really had to build up to these. Every time I thought I was ready to do dive bombers, I tried it and got an intercostal strain every time.
