As a birder pov, I take bird photos because the details a camera capture is totally different from what you see from the naked eye. I admire the details from the feathers, the beak, how the beak skin is attached to the bird, the iridescent feathers, etc. There is also an adrenaline rush when a bird unexpectedly pearched on the tree infront of you. So I believe for the photographs at these events are trying to get the best photo in that short time span. Capture the motion, the settings on the camera, the composition of the shots, the adrenalin at that moment.
