Boards of Canada's rollout for Tomorrow's Harvest was INSANE. They made a huge ARG, with the answers in record stores all across the world, and the clues were hidden in Adult Swim bumpers and NPR announcements. An insane amount of planning and cooperation had to be done just for it to exist.

Nine Inch Nails: Year Zero..LONG arg, before the term existed.: including flash drives hidden in venue bathrooms, irl murals, dozens of websites, noises that created pictures when seen through a spectrograph, stencils for real world graffiti ,phone numbers to call, codes hidden on T-shirts, plants on NIN fan sites, members of said sites being listed as "dead" and "captured" on one YZ site, winners being driven up a mountain in blacked out busses, and more. That's IT.

In 2021, Jeff Rosenstock announced on April Fools' Day that he would release a new album called SKA DREAM (a ska version of his previous album NO DREAM). A lot of us thought it was just a joke for obvious reasons, but then he proceeded to release the album on 4/20 and now I can't decide which of the two albums to listen to half the time. Thanks Jeff!

2:15 the fun thing about the Levels Of Concern website-game was that it was basically a "album rollout rollout" party. For the most part, it had nothing to do with Scaled and Icy, until a video on the USB drives sent to those who got to the final code in time (not me) had hidden text that translated to "Clancy Is Dead", an anagram of "Scaled and Icy". The whole thing was an experience. I still remember seeing Clique Twitter struggle on Code 19 (the music sheet "hip alfresco" one) for more than an hour, when it took me a brief glance for me to realize "oh it's solfege cipher".

I think the rollout might be my favorite part of album releases. Nowadays there's not much effort put into pre-promotions, but when an artist goes all out, follows a concept, there's promo with trucks, mysterious outdoors, it definitely makes me more hyped. i wish we could go back to this instead of random tiktok challenges and no effort from record labels :[

Syro blimp in the thumbnail and in the end!! Aphex the goat! Floating over Cardiff, Bristol and South London so freely! Richard also dropped the track list on the Dark Web and did the biggest interview with his mate Dave Noyze called SYROBONKUS. Fun fact: the title “Syro” originates from his 7 year old son just randomly blurting it out!

Hey, you should also do a video about song/album titles! Over the last few years they've gotten pretty creative, with their different styling (all caps, special letters, etc) and how the titles have evolved from simple ideas to some extra long and oddly specific naming. I think it would make for a neat video!

Frank Ocean to me had the one of the most interesting rollouts I’ve ever experienced with Blonde. There was so much mystery behind it. There was so many theories then someone said they heard from someone in a bar that someone was teaching Frank how to build a staircase. Then people were looking for the warehouse from pictures. Then the live stream started and for a week people were glued just looking for what might happen next. When endless finally dropped, there was also the magazines and physical merch drops at random stores. Everyone thought that was it but the theories didn’t stop since Nikes dropped and he said “I have two versions” then the next day the second album drops. It was insane to me how careful to me he had to be to hide all of it from his label etc.
