@Davy Anthonissen the organisation should be worried. I wouldn’t be surprised if they made ‘suicide’ tags a yellow card or even not applicable to prevent an injury and/or lawsuits.

@jjprempeh25082 жыл бұрын
@@dominitrov nah that's dead. It's exciting to watch and wct is already a high risk sport. It's the atheletes responsibility to calculate the risk of the moves they do
@strixcz2 жыл бұрын
@@dominitrov No, no, and no. You can't really define "a suicide tag" - drawing a line of what is "too risky" in a sport where risk is an inherent part of the game is just impossible. Period. Introduce too many rules, mandatory safety equipment like helmets etc. and you've just killed WCT. The risk management and the athletes striking fine balance between what is the most effective and what is still (somewhat) safe for them is what this sport is all about (not to mention how would the safety equipment restrict their movements, field of view etc.). Sure, Andy's dive was crazy and the landing looked frightening - but he did walk out of it - which only proves that he still (kind of) knew what he was doing. These guys understand what does a personal responsibility mean (and most of them have already survived bails you wouldn't believe to be humanly possible to survive during their practice) so I'd be genuinely shocked if any of them ever hopped on the "let someone compensate for my own idiocy" bandwagon by filing a lawsuit in case of injury (plus they're probably already signing "at your own risk" document or something on entering the competition).

Just started watching professional tag but I just love how UGN's team roster is so dynamic. You got the calm, strategy oriented team captain who carried his team's scoreboard, you got the angry powerhouse that would be terrifying to against, and a man with long limbs who can never be evaded. Love it.

3:03 see this is what’s impressive to me, every time Richard vaults the mountain here, it’s incredibly consistent and smooth, it just shows that he’s committed that move to muscle memory so he can nail it when it’s time to compete
@koulmemaybe2 жыл бұрын
I couldn't help but think the lean out of reach strategy that got them 8-0 in QFs just wouldn't cut it against a better team - I'm actually impressed it got them a point at the end, but it doesn't seem like something that you can consistently do against top opposition
@MMPK2 жыл бұрын
I think you'd be surprised. He's essentially baiting them in to diving or lunging and his spacial awareness is so good he can move out the way just enough to make them commit completely to it. UGEN really is one of the top tier teams and its still working against them🤙
@ezrampage2 жыл бұрын
Also he uses it almost all the time so if his opponent knows he's gonna use that strategy then they could bait xavia into trying to use it
@kevind39742 жыл бұрын
If anything it’s based on reach and commitment. It seems to work the least on those who have the reach or can snake around that area better. While it dos magic for those who do not commit or commit to much as their not going to get the tag their anyway so they need to leave or they get bull headed and charge straight forward which means you just need to move from the line of motion to get the invasion. That’s also why I think those misses are so cool and almost matrix like because I’m a sense they are as their dodging by a hair
@lucafusillo59872 жыл бұрын
It depends on the style of the chaser. For example Andy is a top tier chaser but he has a very aggressive style so it worked against him, however against someone like Richard who's more cautious in his approach it did not work and he got tagged immediately.
@ololo5182 жыл бұрын
Xavia is pretty good player and you shouldn't underestimate his abilities. He can make more than one point against someone good and he got Haroon. Of course to get 8-0 your enemies has to play for you, but that says sth about them, not Xavia

0:08 This is an interesting start position from Richard, I haven’t seen that before. I wonder if part of that strategy has to do with not letting the opponent get up too much speed before he starts evading? When the evader starts in the back corner as usual, the tagger gets up a lot of speed running all the way across the quad, and often tags are made off that initial speed. By starting closer to the tagger (but still in a defensible position) I wonder if Richard is avoiding letting the tagger pick up that speed.

It also just gives you more options. If you're in the corner, you have to run into the direction of the opponent to evade him. At the side you are able to run away in two directions (if the other one comes from the front, then to the side and to the back, if he comes from the side, then to the front and the back).

I don't understand why Breach didn't send Xavi earlier, he's clearly their best evader, what was the point of keeping him out while they were already down 4-1? I've seen teams send their best players back to back ( like Kyle Soderman & Mark Bowles last time) to cut the lead as soon as possible, they should have done the same to get him in rythm.

The dive was crazy, but I feel like people are skipping over some of the other amazing stuff in this match: The first 3 evasions were incredible - some opening runs like that are boring because of skill difference where the chaser doesn't get close, but all of those were hard earned against amazing chasers Chase 7's evasion was quite possibly the weirdest route ever and it somehow paid off
@romabrii2 жыл бұрын
Chase 13 was also really crazy; Xavier was just so flowy while still being fast

Insane route Ed Scott. Andy Xavia bad matchup Wow. Great match. Andy and Haroon were super entertaining as per usual. That Ed Scott evasion had the most insane route. Xavia insane as always and Richard is just on another level. I get why they didn't put Xavia in as the first evader, I think Richard has his ticket and Breach knew that. Andy on the other hand is a very good matchup for Xavia in my opinion. If I had to bet on the final I would bet on UGen, I think they're the favorites, they're depth will help them a lot against Phat. Hope to see more of Dayne in the final.

I hate to sound like a grandpa, but when I first started watching WCT back in season 1, something that was great about it was how much jovial sportsmanship there was. Nearly every chase was followed with some sort of "nice job" moment between the participants. That seems *notably* less present here, and it's a little off-putting IMO. Just my 2 cents...

Yeah same here. Seen the sportsmanship-feel decay. It is especially noticable from UGEN. They're really radiating cockiness and arrogance, which is understandable, because of how good they are. Really draws dislike out of me though! Sadly, it makes me wish a victory for their opponents on principle.
