Dragonbreaks: • The MOST Confusing Con...
Godhead, CHIM & Amaranth: • There is Only ONE God ...
Complete Guide to Gods: • The COMPLETE Guide to ...
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is an open world action role-playing video game developed by Bethesda Game Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks. It is the fifth main installment in The Elder Scrolls series, following The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, and was released worldwide for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on November 11, 2011.
The game's main story revolves around the player character and their quest to defeat Alduin the World-Eater, a dragon who is prophesied to destroy the world. The videogame is set two hundred years after the events of Oblivion, and takes place in the fictional province of Skyrim. Over the course of the game, the player completes quests and develops the character by improving skills. The game continues the open world tradition of its predecessors by allowing the player to travel anywhere in the game world at any time, and to ignore or postpone the main storyline indefinitely.

here is my interpretation of the two: julianos represents intelligence and wisdom, the will to learn, but also to teach. and through teaching one can rest assured that new answers will be found by those who come after you. hermaeus mora represents curiosity, the undeniable truth that every answer found will just raise more questions, with there always being more to know, a satisfying conclusion can never be reached.

Mr_Bliss Herma Mora is stronger. Julianos is an Aedra. Herma Mora is directly approachable for those capable. He passes on esoteric knowledge. He is also likely very bored having so much knowledge of the past, present and future and is therefore likely to cause mischief.

Hermaeus Mora is merely a hoarder of knowledge. He’s not all knowing. Julianos is the personification of logic and wisdom.
@Practitioner_of_Diogenes
@Practitioner_of_Diogenes 4 жыл бұрын
Exactly. Herma Mora only seeks knowledge to hoard it, nearly all of it never shared with mortals. Julianos not only wants mortals to seek knowledge, but he'd more than likely gladly open doors to search for it, as long as it doesn't involve Herma Mora, as Mora would more than likely take the Julianos scholars from Julianos.

@guava4662
@guava4662 4 жыл бұрын
Julianos isn't all-knowing either. Herma Mora specializes in forbidden knowledge, his realm of Apocrypha holds all forbidden knowledge meaning he knows knowledge that both Julianos seeks and keeps secret on top of what Julianos shares with everyone else. I'd say that Herma Mora is at least on par with, likely more knowledgeable than Julianos.
@rosscross1483
@rosscross1483 4 жыл бұрын
But logic and wisdom can restrict you in the search for knowledge. It is an interesting comparison. Hermaeus Mora is selfish and immortal, like all daedra, so he has no reason to share information without a price. But Julianos has something to lose, like all aedra. He is, in a sense mortal, and he cares about the world he protects. They could both be equally intelligent, or not. It doesn't matter. It could be that there is loads of knowledge Julianos does not have, either because he could not or did not want to have it. Hermaeus doesn't care. Who knows whether he himself has gone mad in a way, over the thousands of years of unlimited knowledge? But does it even matter? I don't think sanity and modesty are things that matter to immortals. I believe he knows more than Julianos does. It doesn't mean he is smarter or wiser, but it is unreasonable to think Julianos has more knowledge that Hermaeus. But I also think the restriction of knowledge is not a good thing, regardless of who is controlling it. Any true scholar would not follow the word of a god if it stopped him from learning. Julianos is a tad dogmatic, even if he does it with good intentions. He is after all, a god, and following his rules is a form of religion. By nature, religion has to restrict knowledge to a point, since it requires faith. If he restricts some knowledge, his followers have to believe him blindly or break his rules, since without having that knowledge they can't judge if he is right to do so or not. In a sense, it would be rather hypocritical.

Knowledge is what you've learned, generally second-hand. Intelligence is your capacity to learn, and apply it practically. I've known a man who knew the ins and outs of any automobile you put in front of him, and how to fix them all. About as intelligent as a box of rocks though. Proven by his ownership of a paid off sedan that had low insurance costs, and ran just fine in extreme cold conditions, and he traded it in for a used car, which left him with payments to make to finish paying it off, much higher insurance costs, and a style of engine that doesn't work in extremely cold climates *AT ALL*. He possessed all the knowledge to know that that trade-in was insanely stupid, but in terms of intelligence, too stupid to apply what he knew any other way than fixing cars.

I think what sets Julianos and Herma Mora is what set the nine divines apart from daedra: the concept of wisdom vs. ignorance. I don't think Julianos would limitate knowledge as far as wisdom prevails first on its pursuit. Hence why the Tribunal was allowed to exist while they did good, but vanquished by causality once they became self-absorbed, self-serving and wrathful. Herma Mora IMO represents the scholarly type of ignorance, the belief that knowledge is to be hoarded from the masses and only a select few get to join in. Herma's knowledge never grows from within it, it can only be stolen and hoarded for no other reason than to doing so, while tempting scholars into doing his bidding in promise for unlimited power, without realizing Mora is gradually sapping their own knowledge out of them, with the last bit of knowledge being self-awareness. Hence, why people get lost in Apocrypha and remain there forever, even after death. They got Chihiro'd to the max.

@papanurgle8393
@papanurgle8393 3 жыл бұрын
I'd say that since Mora and his realm is made up of all the *discarded* ideas of creation itself, his hoarding and sapping of knowledge is actually justified. If a scholar comes to Apocrypha for it's knowledge, they're essentially looking to bring back into creation that which was never meant to be, it's only fair then they offer up something from creation in it's place. That idea is kind of explored in the Dragonborn DLC when he wants to learn the Skaal's secrets in return for the power to enslave dragons.

Herma Mora can basically be thought of as the old Catholic church organization, when all holy texts were strictly kept in latin, a language the common people couldn't interpret. By doing this the Church could control the population and restrict knowledge(or power in other words) to a select few who agreed to the terms of the Church.

I feel it breaks down even more simply than that. Juliana is a parent. He is someone that will give you the knowledge that you need in order to survive and then more knowledge so you can evolve and become better than last generation. Hermaeus Mora on the other hand, is that Uncle that will give you the firecracker , light it and not tell you to throw it but to study it instead to see how it's going to work. You might lose a hand you might not but you'll still gain knowledge at yours and anyone else is around expense. A parent will protect you where are your Wiley uncle that thinks it's funny will let you go ahead and try that and see what happens. And usually that uncle's laughing afterwards.

I would say Julianos is smarter. With there also being Jyggalag the Daedric Prince of Order and Mathematics. I think that's why there's pretty much double the Daedric Princes as there are Divines. Half of what each of the Daedric Princes need to equal the Divines. Pretty much Jyggalag has all the outside pieces of the jigsaw sorted but only Hermaeus Mora knows what the picture looks like. Julianos knows both though and that there's another clean slate on the other side once the patience to build it has been done.

@@kairosm5331 it's referring to Allah speaking infinitely. It's my favorite, absolute favorite part of the Quran. It's poetic and can be taken to mean anything. I take it to mean the Quran is utterly meaningless in the perspective Allah has, as is religion and human existence.

@@krispinwah2784 I'm an occultist. I read holy books to learn. I also practice religious customs to learn. Right now I am studying Hinduism. The Bhagavad Gita is very interesting, it's set as a battle between two princes who are brothers. One has God's entire heavenly army at his command and the other has God as his advisor. Interesting situation for sure.

Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein is about a doctor who becomes obsessed with creating a being. He wants to be the first scientist to find the secret to life. Dr. Victor Frankenstein goes on to find the partial remains of a dead man. He combines the parts of other dead people, patching them together to form a complete human. Then, he goes on to animate the creature using an unspoken science he had discovered (that the author doesn’t fully elaborate on). The only thing we know is that electricity is the final piece to his medical breakthrough, and is what ultimately animates this being. After it comes to life, things go off the rails, Dr. Frankenstein is terrified of his creation, shouting at it, before he flees his apartment. He returns, only to find it had run away, scared and angry, to be scorned by society, and eventually go on a rampage. There’s a great anonymous quote, I recall from a few years back, “Knowledge is knowing that Frankenstein is not the monster. Wisdom is knowing that Frankenstein is the monster.” Dr. Frankenstein never actually names his creature. It is just called Frankenstein’s Monster. Knowledge means you get this basic fact. Wisdom means you understand that Dr. Frankenstein is the monster because he had no business creating life in the way that he did, impulsively pillaging the remains of bodies, sewing them together, and with little consideration, forcing a tortured being into life simply to satisfy his own ego. And not only that, he rejects the creature, who understands him and is hurt by his creator's disgust with him. Victor Frankenstein, by playing god and feeding his ego, became the very monstrosity he was disgusted by. Knowledge means you know the information. Wisdom means you understand it in a way that most don’t.

Julianos teaches the pursuit of learning and sharing of knowledge for the betterment of all. Herma-Mora only aims to capitalize on the pursuits of learned men, and hoard the knowledge for himself. He would then use it to gain an unfair advantage on his foes, or as a bargaining piece. Herma-Mora's realm is where scientific discovery goes to die. That's the difference.

I would choose Hermaeous, and then try to make another world that isn’t the same as the OG Nirn. Maybe I’d just read 1 or 2 pages of a book Hermaeous gave me. I’d hope he lets me come back later if I think I’m ready for more. If he says I can’t come back, then I’d risk insanity by reading more at once. I already know that I’m discarded once his use of me is gone, but hopefully I’d really die and not end up eternally insane or harmed.

i think there's more to it than that. julianos's sphere emcompasses learning, which in terms of the elder scrolls i see as acquiring knowledge through the acts of study and experimentation, not a bargain. and as unslaad said hermaeus mora isn't all knowing, all the knowledge he has acquired through the hoarding of the works of others that he then bargains with either for more knowledge or servitude.

@@botarakutabi1199 Considering there are 16 Accords of Madness, It would seem that Sheogorath had a run in with Herma and seeing how all other books that we know of ended in trickery I would wager Mora also got a taste of Sheo. Plus according to Nord tales Herma was foiled by Sheor into turning the Nords into elves so there is at least a tale where Mora didn't see something comming.

I don't really know if responsibility figures into it. From what we gather from his appearances, Hermaeus Mora does not gather knowledge for a purpose. He gathers knowledge for knowledge's sake. Master Neloth is confused about the prince being willing to trade one of the most powerful Dragon Shouts in existance for a few interesting ways to skin a horker, but to Hermaeus Mora, those two are equivalent; knowledge to be hoarded. In this respect, he severely differs from most who follow him, who want to use his knolwedge for a greater purpose. A similar disconnect does not exist, or exists only to a lesser extent between Julianos and his followers.

Yes he challenged you and trys to trap you and drive you insane lol. If I find out that Julianos and the other divines put a limit on mortals mind to prevent certain truths I'm going to devote my time in game to destroy them and their temples. I'm a Mage main with a love for Necromancy whose backstory is to learn all the magical secrets he can and will destroy any who trys to stop him lol. Can't wait to see what happens in Elder Scrolls 6.

If you could bring certain adra and daedra together they could potentially end up in a perfectly balanced eternal battle, with these two it'd be a firey debate with the soldiers being clerks, researchers and librarians that eternally ferry documents and books and stuff to their respective gods while attempting to prevent the others.
