“Orange and brown set, which looked terrible.” I am old enough to remember this era, and even as a kid who grew up with it I thought the orange, browns, avocado green and mustard yellow colors of the time were hideous. Glad the 80s when I was a tween and teen.
@6Haunted-Days2 ай бұрын
I ADORED those colours and they’re well known as excellent colors to put together….ya know far as color theory ….I’m gonna guess you know nothing about that. I’m sure the butt fugly pastels then neon clashing color pairings in the 80s were just o so better. 😂🙄🤡 Also this was designed to OBVIOUSLY look like the Dick Cavett show set design….weird if you’re actually a kid in the 70s you didn’t pick up on that. It’s the 1st thing I noticed & I’m a kid from the 70s.

Great review and commentary. I'm looking forward to this one. Just one suggestion for you, though. Light yourself. That half shadow is a great idea for atmosphere but it's not one that works well in general. It's very jarring when it goes from well lit clips to you in half shadow and is very distracting. Honestly the only time I can think of it working well was in Halloween when Michael appears in the shadowed side of the screen behind Laurie. Doesn't work for this kind of thing.

There's a story of an old British broadcast that this reminds me of, and I won't be surprised if it's inspired by the events. Essentially a regular broadcast station played a hoax where they did a real (looking) feature on a paranormal haunted home. Started off kooky and quickly went horrific and had (fake) callers calling in saying the stuff was happening in their homes too now due to broadcast. It went as horrible as you can imagine a pre internet stunt like this going and was never shown again. I am scratching my brain raw to remember the name of it and if I do I will edit and share here.

Saw it last night, it was really really good, establishes great atmosphere from the very beginning with a sense of dread that builds with every passing moment, the special make up effects were top notch as well as the visual effects although which made it feel out of place for a 70s horoor movies vibe, I would have preffered they stuck to 100% Practical effects like in The Exorcist nothing fancy mainly depended on sound design to establish the mood of dread, but that's a minor negative since it is a modern movie so they decided to use some flashier effects mainly toward the end, a Solid 8 out of 10 for me, hope there is an extended version of it, the Girl Lilly was fantastic she already has that Manson Family Girl Creepy Vibe about her that gets worse and worse as the movie progresses and while everyone is serious around her she has a smile from ear to ear, it will stream in less than a month on April 19th Shudder
