Trailmakers is about building very awesome vehicles and machines, but you don’t need an engineering degree to get started. The intuitive builder will get you going in no time. Everything you build is made from physical building blocks. Each block has unique features like shape, weight and functionality. They can be broken off, refitted and used to build something new. Individually the blocks are fairly simple, but combined the possibilities are endless.
Expedition Mode is the challenging campaign mode of Trailmakers. You are competing in an off-world rally expedition with only a few building blocks to get you started. You must build, tinker with and rebuild your machine to progress. Journey through a big world, overcome deep gorges, angry wildlife and dangerous weather to progress and find new parts that will juice up your machine. The world in Expedition Mode will test your survival skills and ingenuity.
Sandbox Mode is where you want to head for an unrestricted, sandbox, vehicle-building experience. Here you can build anything you can dream of, and play around with it in the world of Trailmakers. It is a great place to test out crazy machines, and experiment with the physics engine. With tons of different blocks, hinges, thrusters and interactive vehicle parts - the skybox is the limit.
Trailmakers is even more fun if you play it with other people. Build cool vehicles and compete in mini-game modes with your friends or other Trailmakers online. Build a helicopter, send it to your friend, and shoot them out of the sky. Put two seats on a tank, and let your friend control the turret. As we get further in Early Access development Expedition Mode will also be adapted to multiplayer.

Add weight blocks on pistons. You can then have the weight transfer from the front, to the rear of the aircraft for that forward flight.

To counteract the issue that you had with the nose tilting V22 Osprey pilots irl usually don’t fly with the props tilted fully horizontally. But instead with them at a slight upwards angle. Also V22 Ospreys can’t tilt their props backwards

Gosh i just went to the old v22 osprey and i started watching all the old video's lol And i didn't know that I've been subscribed since 6,000 subscribers wow it's been 2 years and back then i was mostly watching multiplayer Monday. THAT WAS SOOOOO LONG AGO!!

Hello dear scrap man. I'm a kidna pro at building a vtol. Not really in trailmakers but I have 2 tips. Tip 1:u can rotate the proppeler spinner(idk) upside down so u can have a double rotor just make sure let's say top left rotor has controls of bottom right... Tip 2: the humble jets were a good idea u just would have needed to place one in the back and if it does not work for you. Try 2 at the back. Good luck

Scrapman what you should try is putting a small weight in the back to evenly disperse the weight as well as possibly stopping it from trying to nose dive into the ground

V22 osprey is a vertical take off or landing aircraft aka Vtol meaning it can land like a helicopter but it can also land like a plane

In The rotor rectangle block thingy. the rotors are a bit forward so when it rotates to plane mode the rotors will be a bit down to the center of mass

IRL planes are balanced by angeling the rear wings to push the back of the plane down so the plane stays level. Maybe you could use this method to balance some of your future planes in trailmakers

use a constantly spinning servo which counter acts other forces depending on whether you are going forward or up

Pistons should move the weight blocks depending the position of the engines. Engines go forward you’re having an issue pointing down with half your total weight in weight blocks in the front. Have those weight blocks go backwards towards the center and you won’t push forward as much.

U can make movable weight with pistons, so when you change motor position it moves weight back

You could deal with weight distribution problem when rotating the engines just by attaching your weight blocks to pistons and retract them (which would push the center of mass behind) when You turn into "plane mode".

from what I can tell, part of your problem might be that real ospreys have a larger wing surface for the propellers

So if you want to put another pair of helicopter blades spinning you put a block between the helicotper blades and the helicopter servo and then u make it go up and put more blades (I looked and thought about what I just said and it probably doesn’t work)

you need 2 gimbals in the back to counter act the pullback since center of mass is in front with jets.

when you took off, it seemed that you had the same problem that i had a while ago when i tried to make a V-22 Osprey. It was in roblox in a building game called plane crazy where aerodynamics and other things dont matter, but anyways when i took off it was fine but when i angled the props forward it was nose heavy. Yeah so i lost that account and when i got it back years later i saw how bad i was at building and i might try to make another. In the game i play i would try to make some weight blocks to move to change the center of mass. I havent watched the full vid but if you didnt make it work you could try that.

What if you lower wings and move engine parts little bit backwards? Could it make any difference? Amd also do everything possible to make that thing lighter, maybe not use weights in front but gimbal jets in back for better balancing?

There is a reason why the osprey is one of the HARDEST aircraft to fly. The weight shifting and lack of optimized aerodynamics make it very unstable if it falls to far of axis. Its also stupidly sluggish when using roll. And it doesn’t help that SM’s take on it is horribly wrong with the engine design and propeller size.

I just had an idea that would make the models look better. What if the connection points for the parts only showed when you are in build mode but disappear when you actually use the model? There is no need to see the connection points when driving the creations. It makes it look like you are driving a lego model.

You could have used sensors to detect if you are in forward mode. Then you could have the gimbal jets activate in forward mode, bot not in vtol mode.

ScrapMan you should design The Hornet from Halo 3 in Trailmakers. I’d love to see the utiliziation of gimble jets and perhaps retractable landing gear platforms. I feel the Hornet’s VTOL design could better showcase your vision than the V-22 Osprey. I was very inpressed by what you did with Osprey by the way, great design and amazing content as always.
