"What're you standing up for!?" is always even funnier than people remember because, as Toph has noted in his since-deleted Crowbcat FGC reaction video, Woshige actually *was* able to get to his controller and press exactly ONE button; him pressing that button made Ogawa get him with a counterhit and therefore deal _MORE DAMAGE_ than if Woshige didn't get to his stick on time.

And the mind games go deeper than that, Nemo pointed out that Ogawa specifically chose 2H as his starter, which only combos off counter hit meaning he was hoping for Woshige to panic mash and get the big payout

In the "You gonna learn today" clip that was Mortal Kombat X, not 11, which is relevant for this neat fact - apparently AsianLamb has grown up and tweeted Justin for a runback in either MK 11 or the reboot, and Justin responded saying he's down. It'd be a pretty fun followup if this dude has been practicing non-stop for 8 years just to get his revenge.

So, two things about Big Band's level 5: 1: Aside from, like, HP, the buttons are 1-to-1 with a real trumpet's valves, so if you know how to play a trumpet IRL, you already know how to work Big Band's level 5. 2: the input is actually a reference by itself; the inputs are actually how one would play the first four notes of the Skullgirls leitmotif. You can hold a trumpet out by holding MP for a moment, play the song, then the super will just go off when you play the first four notes.

Two things, first off the “what are you standing up for” was originally between wolfkrone and ricky ortiz when krone stood up after he thought he had it in the bag after landing the ultra and ricky made a crazy comeback and you can see ricky mouth the words “what are you standing up for?” after the match. Second, the quicksilver glitch is actually a dmc3 reference because in that game dante can literally make enemies move slower, and in the case of the mvc3 glitch, basically stop the opponent from doing anything.

I have a story from when I was 18 ... way back - was a few months after street fighter 2 hit the arcades. There was this twenty something guy who was going from machine to machine in an arcade, beating kids who were clearly new. This was Australia. You got one play per australian DOLLAR, so kids couldn't afford to keep playing and were getting robbed. This dude was so proud of himself for effectively taking kids' lunch money, and I finally got sick of it. I verbally challenged him to "pub rules" (a set of rules people played 8-ball by in pubs) Now, this was at a time when there was a social understanding that you don't use throws because it was cheap (you couldn't block them or some other stupid reason). But, pub rules were pub rules, so I picked Chun Li for the walk speed and throw range ... and threw him over and over and won with a double perfect. Pub rules were pub rules. I insisted he drop his pants and run around the building twice. He was never seen in that arcade again.

This may not be wellknown or filmed and documented, but as a non-Australian I'm imagining what it looked like and sounded in my head and I gotta say, it does feel legendary. Even if neither of you were probably wearing a wide-brimmed hat and a crocodile-skin vest but reasonable early 90's clothes, and the fight took place in like a sub-urb or some Melbourne mall instead of some little pub way out in the bush... still cool.

"What are you standing up for?" Is actually famous because of Ricki Ortiz vs Wolfkrone in SF4 circa 2012, not from the Woshige EVO blunder. Just for correct FGC history.

Woshige is the moment EVERYONE remembers, though. So therefore, it better.

“What’re you standing up for?!” was actually part of the lexicon before that, thanks to what believe was a Ricki Ortiz vs Wolfkrone match. Hellpockets was referencing UltraDavid, who said it first Edit: Thanks for the correction. I thought it was TastySteve, not Hellpockets.

Thought “what are you standing up for” was famous due to the Wolfkrone vs Ricky Ortiz match where Krone won a match, stood up and popped off. But then Ricky came back and won the set and said “WHAT ARE YOU STANDING UP FOR?!” Years before this.

My pick is the video entitled "Poongko Let you laugh". It's Poongko streaming SF4, his Seth vs E. Honda. At the end, he activates Seth's Tanden Typhoon Ultra, thinking it's going to win the round, and imitates the move by crossing his arms and leaning back. Except while he's leaning back, it turns out the move didn't win the round after all...

From what I recall, the Quicksilver Glitch had something to do with Bold Canceling, I think you basically bold canceled the freeze of the team hyper combo and it kept the screen frozen and you could cancel the bold move into million stabs over and over, something like that.

there was an SF6 match a while back where Cammy (Mago) jumped toward Dhalsim (YHCMochi) from a *really* far distance away. Mochi reacts with the Level 2, Cammy reacts with the air Level 2 and *goes from a Dhalsim 5HP in horizontal distance to landing completely behind him*
