The Taylor Hall trade. The devs got some good prospects and we don’t mind a first round pick, containing another top prospect. On the other hand, Taylor Hall was terrible for the Coyotes, giving them close to no help last season, causing him to be let out into free agency without a single offer, and getting picked up by Buffalo. Even there, this season he hasn’t lived up to the hype. I don’t think he’ll ever be the same as the 2017 Taylor Hall.

I'm a Devils fan. Scott Gomez. He fit in perfectly to the Devils system. He had a couple decent seasons in new York but was never near the same player he was in New Jersey. Even when Gomez came back to New Jersey near the end of his career, he put up numbers he hadn't attained in years. At that time though, the Devils were going younger and rebuilding. He is one player I wish would have stayed his whole career in New Jersey. I believe he would have ended yup well over 1000 points and had his number retired there with the other greats had he stayed there his whole career. The guy had some Gretzky like vision and playmaking skills.

Ryan o’reilly was treading water and mired in a losing culture in Buffalo, the blues sent a pair of bottom six forwards who had a small impact at the time and are no longer with the Sabre’s, an unproven prospect who has 14 points in 75 games with the Sabres, and two draft picks, who might turn out to be elite but if so, is several years away. The blues received their current captain and conn smyth recipient who helped them win a cup. That was one well timed trade.

My friend is a huge Sharks fan and was so hyped about the Karlsson trade, but I knew once he was given that contract it was a mistake, especially since the very next season the Injuries started. I get the sharks wanted to keep Karlsson because they gave up so much, but they already had 7mil into an aging vlasic, and 8 mil pylon burns. But hear me out when the sharks are fully healthy on defense they are a monster, but now they have no production up top because Meier isn't looking like the 30 goal scorer he was signed to be.

@@alexc1926 Drouin has 21 points in 32 games right now, he would be on pace for roughly 55-60 points in a full 82-game season. I haven't heard all that much about Drouin aside from people wondering if this could be his breakout year, he's not over-hyped he's been over-criticized by Hockey fans for the past few years and I'm even guilty of this. Sergachev would definitely help the Habs blue-line but if you have Sergachev instead of Drouin, who has that type of chemistry with Nick Suzuki that's helping him turn into a potential superstar center in the coming years? Drouin is probably the Habs' best playmaker right now and if he keeps this up could be just that for the next few seasons.

In the 2008-9 season, my team traded Thomas Walser for Damien Brunner in a one-on-one deal (it is not customary in Europe to do so) in the middle of the season... Brunner had 3 assists in 17 games before that trade, 36 games, 12g 14a for the remainder of the season with Zug and in the following five seasons was one of the best snipers with a Swiss passport and made the national team and later played for Detroit and the Devils... Walser had 20 games, 1 assist for our organisation and 37 gp, 4g 1a for Kloten... he soonly fell under the radar and played for Minor League teams only.

Stl Blues best timed trade? In recent memory it’s a toss up between Braden Schenn for Lehtera etc or O’Reilley for Bergland etc

Blues trading away Berglund and Sobotka for O’Reilly. Sobotka ended up in the minors and Berglund flat out quit, O’Reilly wins a Conn Smythe (for narrative sake, I left out the additional draft pick and Tage Thompson inclusion, but neither of those help the blues win the 2019 cup)

My NYRs traded a Beloved Derrick Brassard for an Excellent but not yet proved Mika Zibanejad. Even though Brassard was an impact for Ottowa Senators eliminating the NYRs the following year, thereafter Brassard began a Decline, and, has been sent to different teams, since, while Mika Zibanejad has thrived for The NYRs. Thanks, Jeff Gorton

I'm not sure it's fair to critique players too harshly as playing in today's NHL with the COVID protocols and the overall state of our country, I think it has to be difficult both on and off the ice. Maybe and mostly off the ice? What the heck do I know? I'm not an NHL hockey player but I will say to every player, good for you to be able to play this great game at such a high pace!

Montreal Canadiens trade for Ken Dryden at the draft after he was drafted by the Boston Bruins, for Alex Campbell, Guy Allen and Paul Reid. Ken Dryden won 6 stanley cups in 9 yrs... Won 6 Veznia trophies, 1 Calder, 1 Conn Smythe trophy. He also sat out 1 yr during a contract dispute. Ken Dryden retired at age 32, because he could. None of the other 3 ever played an NHL game.
