Also protects the screen from stuff inside the purse (keys, coins, etc). Unfortunately, the "dust in hinge" problem is kind of worse in a purse. Also, women's pants don't have deep pockets. Larger phones slip out of pockets all the time.

It builds a relationship to their entire brand instead of just to a specific product. It also creates loads of in-jokes with LTT, which is obviously a very strong brand to people watching this channel. So, dbrand is quite clever with this, honestly. Also, I'm one of those people who almost always scroll past the ad, dbrand ones don't feel like ads but feels like sketches, so there, I stick to it. And I honestly also like the brand somewhat and might even use it at some point (especially since I noticed they are shipping free to Europe (a bit uncertain about taxes and such though).

As a Verizon Sales rep we definitely sell the Z-flip a surprising amount. It's a combination of factors, first and foremost is the pocketablility. Women's pants just don't have large pockets so it really appeals to women specifically in their late 20s-early 40s. Beyond that the pricing is good, $1000 is only $200 more than the standard s22. Also foldables tend to have better promotions available from carriers. Personally I had a Fold 3 for 2 weeks and ended up returning it because it was just unwieldy, a flip would have fit my lifestyle far better as it is a much more manageable size.

The reason I got one was to, ironically, spend less time on my phone. For me it's a mindfulness thing - physically opening up my phone makes me realize how much I'm using it. Now I'm spending less time endlessly scrolling through KZbin and using it to just text, call, and check on work email. Pretty liberating IMO.

I'm actually surprised how much I use the tiny screen, especially for music and notifications. Also, the whole design weirdly makes me feel less distracted by my phone throughout the day. Using it "camcorder" style is also pretty great for recording longer things, it's far more comfortable than a traditional phone. Reading while at a table is also more comfortable, no need to prop the phone up or anything, can just bend it for a nice reading angle. Same goes for video calling. I also always have an issue with my phone screens getting scratched up in my pocket, and it's basically impossible while folded. It is admittedly thicker in the pocket, but it also feels less likely to fall out due to it's smaller size. Normal phones like to fall out of my shorts all the time, this one has yet to come close.

I've been using the Flip 3 since release and I love it. yes the battery life isn't the best and the phone does have a few small quirks, but for what I need it suits me perfectly. My screen is always protected in my pocket, it folds into a small foot print (yes it's chunkier but way more comfortable in my pocket than a big heavy slab), and it functions pretty well for every day use. The only person who I wouldn't recommend a flip to is someone who is a power user who is always gaming or consuming media and socials. I know after converting to a flip phone that I will never go back to a slab phone if given a choice. And for all of you comparing the Flip with the Fold, you guys clearly have no idea. It's basically a built in stand, the camera has a lot of versatility for taking selfies and group photos using the better sensors, I can even use it as a tripod to film things. Also I haven't heard people talk about this but it's a big phone and I like big phones but I have to use reachability setting to go one handed. The ability to partially fold the phone is the best reachability feature in any phone! I can go one anded without skipping a beat. I love this phone!

As someone who recently started daily driving a Flip 3 I can easily say that the flip form factor is just a lot of fun. It maybe chunkier in the pocket but at least it doesn't take up the entirety of my pocket like a normal slab phone, also riley you can pick up calls when it's closed. It just automatically goes into speakerphone mode kind of like a walkie talkie or a smartwatch. The only real downside to these phones is that the screens are garunteed to die out at some point due to the folding which is why I personally prefer the Surface duo approach

Yeah.... Riley really forgot about the pockets (or lack there of) in women's clothing. I know two flip owners, and the first thing they both showed off was "look. It ACTUALLY fits in my jeans pocket". Considering that my wife has to take her phone out of her pocket to sit down without crushing it, I can see a LOT of people being excited by the compactness of a flip. I'm pretty sure if he asked Nicole, Emily, Sarah, Yvonne, or anyone else who has to deal with women's jeans, they would tell him the same thing.

Watching this Flip 4 review on my Flip 4 is great 😂 It's definitely not a phone for everyone, but I work primarily from a desk and having a phone that can physically close stops me from getting sucked in with every notification. As for the pocket, he's right, its a little clunky in guy's pockets, but then just don't fold it, it's plenty thin. But for backpacking, running/biking, man this phone is great! Just fold it up, throw it in your bag and you're good to go. Great cameras and taking group photos when you don't have a random stranger to hand the phone to is pretty nifty when it comes up as well 👍

Having a flip phone with a small notification screen helps reduce screen on time A LOT. Also helps with focus. Also when folded and placed on the table ur now worried about the screen. The compact form factor when folded means it fits in ur pocket or small waist bag when you are out for a run, workout or just a walk around the park. Holding it folded when making payment via samsung pay is definitely more convenient thatn hovering a 6 inch phone with the screen all exposed when tapping to pay, it fits snuggly in your palm and no one can even look at the small screen behind ur hands. Taking wide angle selfies, group selfies with the main camera while the phone is folded when you are out on a trip with family and friends, the phone fit snugly in ur palm, 1 handed, and u can snap a photo with voice or palm detection, no need to fumble with a selfie stick or a 6.7 inch slab using the selfie camera which is much lesser than the main camera, or trying to use the main camera while guessing ur shot. Not to mention step by step navigation from the cover screen, which is so convenient while walking, riding or even driving, its something u can fit snugly in the palm of your hands, instead of lightly holding a 6 inch slab which can easily fall off or snatched. OMG there is SO MUCH advantage to this form factor. There is a reason why its becoming popular.

Thicker phone in this case, can mean it can push onto the body more and it would also push heavier in a smaller spot. For jeans it's probably better, I don't know. Jeans are so stiff, would never wear such things. Some have mentioned smaller pockets on women's clothing. I have never paid attention to such a thing, so I don't know. To someone ignorant on the subject, I'd just buy "men's" pants if that was an issue. Why buy an expensive phone instead? The more surface area, the more it's distributed in other areas. Nobody cares about you getting a new iPhone with how iterative they've been recently, whereas every person you show a flipping phone to wants to at least try it once. And compared to the Fold it just becomes a regular ol' flagship, not really any compromises other than a hit to battery life and durability concerns. I've had a lot of my friends buy either the Flip or an iPhone, and most of their reasons for getting such devices were because they looked beautiful. Seriously, that's it. We techies tend to forget that majority of the customers don't really care about the performance of a phone - that is, in terms of highly demanding stuff like gaming - most of the people would get a phone that looks good and takes good photos. Aaand in terms of pricing, most would get their phones tied to a plan, instead of paying full price from the start, and many of the carriers have varying prices, so the inital MSRP wouldn't really matter to quite a lot of people.

I don't think Riley is TRYING to be biased, or sexists, or whatever-ist, but this review shows how easy it is for ANY of us to do so. His bias made him unable to actually look at the product with any critical or understanding eye. Why not the next time you have a very popular product to review and the reviewer "doesn't get it" - Stop. Stop it right there, and go get someone on staff who DOES at least understand the appeal even if it's not for them. Throw a survey up on twitter, get ideas of how people are using this. Zflip 3 user here. I'm not a women who puts it in a purse, and I'm not someone who holds it like an older camera. I'm a guy who barely uses his phone at all, and carries several things in my pockets every day. When you carry an inhaler, a big ring of keys, a wallet, and emergency allergy meds in the same 2 pockets every day? The full size of a standard iphone with a case becomes shockingly cumbersome. So Samsung's flip design actually helps a lot for my needs, allowing me to carry my phone with less vertical space taken up in my pocket. Plus, I have zero interest in mobile games, and never use my phone for watching media. The most I ever use it for is taking notes, using my calendar, and making phone calls. But on the rare occasion that I am browsing the web with it, it feels very nice to set the phone down and CLOSE IT. It is not there to invite me with notifications, and it is not a device extending from my hand. It's a thing that is flipped shut and put aside. And because I don't play games on my phone or anything, the battery lasts for several days before charging, even though most reviews claim it "can't last half a day". Those reviewers must be addicted to their phones or something. The battery is great when staring at facebook isn't your life.

100% agree on many wireless earbud cases being way too thick. The problem is that most phones have gotten so big that they don't fit into pockets anymore. Especially women's jeans often have really small pockets, where modern phones stick out by 2-5 cm (1-2"). But there are also plenty of other pockets where you might want to put a phone, but can't because phones have gotten too big. The Flip series is certainly not as elegantly thin when folded up as many other phones, but at least it still fits inside pockets without sticking out. I'm sure that is why many people buy it.

You can answer or make phone calls with it closed, it just defaults to speakerphone. You can set it to auto switch off speaker when you open the phone, which is nice, too. And then of course answering/ending a call by opening/closing the phone are optional settings too I've had the phone for a couple weeks now and I love it personally. Yeah, it's thicker when folded up, but I feel like I'm less likely to drop it. I also love the cover screen, since I can easily check the time, notifications, and do other things like control my music and check the weather, which I've been doing a lot recently. The phone is slimmer (in terms of width) than my last one (S20+), and I honestly enjoy it a lot. I can more easily reach more things with one thumb. The placement of the fingerprint sensor is also very comfortable and easy to reach. Overall I'm very happy so far with my Flip 4, although the same can't be said for my new carrier... But hey, I managed to get the phone itself for free because pre-order promotion

it's really good for people who have tiny pockets (like, e.g, every woman), and needing to unfold it means that you need to be really deliberate about using your phone. I was kind of skeptical but I bought it anyways since the tradein deals were too good, and I actually am loving it.

I'm with Reilly, but I showed this to my wife and she'd be interested if the price comes down. I guess every phone is too bulky and the folded square would be easier for bags and girl-pockets, like other commenters are saying

I love this dude but he obviously already has his opinion about foldable phones before he even started unboxing it. Having a person who is unbiased would have been better than him complaining about something as common as the lack of an earphone jack. At times it seemed like he was reaching hard for problems about the phone which distracted from the valid points he made about the foldable.

Not everyone has gigantic pockets that fit a tablet, Riley. I mean I'm pretty long and so my jackets for example are all in the L to XL range, but I've been using phones so big that it has started to be too big even for the pockets of those jackets. Having a flip like this that can be just as big but also smaller is just so convenient. I know not everyone agrees, but the point is that there are people who actually do benefit from having a phone that flips in half, so don't hate on it just because you guys don't need it

I had Z flip 2 and 3 and yes the only reason I buy it is so I can put it in my jeans pocket as women's pocket are extremely tiny and I don't want to care a purse everytime . Also it is not as wide so I can finally reach with my fingers every button comfortably. LTT desperately needs women in such videos. Men's take on this phone from ltt and others is just not good. Linus loves the huge ipad like foldable so of course he does not get this one and same with this review, implying that pocketability is not a good reason to buy is none of your business because you don't face this problem as a men. I use tiny screen all the time. At night it is amazing to check time, I control my music and phone call from top screen so there is no reason for me to unfold it and it saves energy and does not look that intrusive if you are at work and need to snooze a call or read a quick sms, you can do it with top screen easily. And I like to take photos with the possibility to see myself, that tiny screen is enough!

I appreciate the honesty about the thickness and flipability. Sounds like a nitpick, but with how much we're used to the smartphone slab, you gotta convince me (and others) to get accustomed to a new feel. If you're to do the clamshell design, old flip phones had the experience just right imo.
