The new one has like 260hp from the turbo I-4, cvt, and is fwd or fwd bias for the awd version. You can actually get some rotation from the rear end on the old QX50's, doesn't look like you can from the new ones.

That infiniti stupid CVT makes it so lethargic. It sounds like it is struggling. Like a 90s 4 speed auto. You simply do NOT need a cvt for economy. Just a good normal torque converter auto like Mercedes or BMW has. They've proved it. Every other carmaker is just taking the easy way out using a cvt instead of a good auto.

@@SM-1010 oh, in south Africa and the rest of the world we have the GLC250/260 as base with a 2.0T. I know US only has GLC300. But our GLC300 is still the same 2.0T engine just with slightly higher KW at 180kw instead of 155kw. 0-100km is still only at 6.8s..... nothing close to low 5s.....

I know the older AMG trucks had an override, it’s called Dyno mode...I think. Which completely turns of all stability control. No sure if the hidden menu is on the new ones.

There's probably at least $10k on the hood of that QX50. $62k for a Rogue with a turbo and a nicer interior is a joke. The QX50's engine and transmission tuning is one of the worst I've ever felt: when you step on the gas, nothing happens for the first second and then the cvt kicks down and the turbo spools up so you get a very non linear surge of power that makes you back off and then you're back to having no power again. Nissian needs to spend a bit more money on powertrain calibration.

GLC 43 shifting gets more aggressive once the temperatures, engine oil and transmission, are out of the blue range. Requires patience, as the transmission takes 10 or 12 minutes to warm up.

Its a poor comparison, my wife loves her QX50. It’s an Essential, everything except pro pilot. It is absolutely not a sporting vehicle and no one looking at an AMG would even consider the Infiniti for all the reasons already covered (performance, cvt etc). You are also spending under 50k for typically equipped QX50 making the prices not even close to comparable. I will say that the QX50 is really nice to take on a long drive, comfortable, roomy, quiet and does the job. I myself drive a GTI with a stage 1 tune so I know just a little about performance.

First and last infiniti. Leased a qx50 as it was a great deal for 30 months. Within 5000 kms went to the dealer 3 times. The driver assist acts up and applies the breaks when there is no imminent danger (no cars in front) i think due to changes in light and incline as this happens going inder a bridge. Also, in high humidity the radiator works abnormally hard (showed the tech at Nissan the video and he said immediately there's something wrong) and the a/c stops working. Other than that the infotainment system is pretty pathetic and the interior is somewhere between luxury and top of the line standard vehicle. Owned Lexus, Mercedes, Honda, and Toyota. I was happy with all those makes. This is the only time I've regretted a new car

Just recently (a week ago) did test drives for Infiniti QX50, Lexus NX200 and Mercedes GLB 200. They all cost absolutely the same, and in that price tag (around $46k in Russia), Merc was 180HP, Lexus 150HP and Infiniti 250HP. Infiniti was wwaaaaaaaay more fun and engaging to drive, both Mercedes and Lexus simply didn't stand a chance next to it. Also Mercedes was all screechy and noisy inside, where not a single interior piece in Infiniti or Lexus did a single noise. The only downside of Infiniti was the sh***iest infotainment system I ever saw, Mercedes was top notch in that regard, but for me car should drive good in the first place, everything else after. So we picked Infiniti.

This is not a fair comparison. About 100 more in horsepower and torque . A 6 cylinders vs 4 ... compare it to the Mercedes GLE 350, Acura rdx, lexus nx, audi Q5, BMW x3 , Then we talk. By the way, the QX50 starts at $43k awd. Simple understanding of variable compression engine . Think of a sprinter and a marathon runner, the vehicle will know when to save fuel or give you power base on the driver input. Its not meant for performance thats why it replaced the EX35 . !!!

I have the GLC 43 and the column shifter is *mostly* fine. On my example, if you're in a hurry and don't quite get the brake pedal applied before shifting, or perhaps the driver's door is ajar, it'll put up an error message (that's fine). But then when you recover from that, you'll discover that it's now neglected to release the parking brake automatically as it normally does. Just a small software bug. Paddle shifters and 9-speed transmission are lovely and very smart.

@@JxH I think it does that for safety. It now assumes you've perhaps made an error and it keeps the handbrake on to prevent rolling. But you'll find the column shifter on a W212 E Class too which still has the foot operated parking brake.

Really disappointed in the VC-T. It should be a good technology, but I think that changing the compression in the cylinder of a turbocharged engine should be done by a blowoff valve/bypass. And for an NA engine, high compression means both better efficiency and power/performance, so no need to change it. The CVT, yes a lot of people hate them, but having one in my everyday car, it is nice for a city vehicle as I get 35+ mpg until snow hits, and really is the perfect gearbox for it as it's cheap, efficient, light weight and compact compared to a conventional auto. But for anything larger or more powerful than a base level midsize, a TC auto will get about the same and the advantages start to become less of an issue. But a CVT shouldn't be in a luxury vehicle unless in hybrid form

I can't believe Nissan spent somewhere around a billion dollars over 20 years to develop the variable compression technology only to fall 1-2 mpg behind it's competitors (Consumer Reports). In real world tests it is 4 mpg behind the BMW X3 (Car and Driver). What a colossal waste of investment. Infiniti is probably going to fold up shop in a few years. They're done.

I own the 2021 qx50 and I can tell you right now this video is BS. I guarantee you he was driving the qx50 in eco mode. It might not be the fastest car off the line but it'll pull away from most cars in its class, in sport mode.

Nissan + Renault = Infiniti $62k 🤮 Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 $70k = Quality/safety and a bargain unless you put a $8000 value on your life, 1 wallowing suspension makes for an unsafe vehicle in a emergency response situation and Jatco CVT transmission are currently the worst on the market for cvts, 2006-2009 yes they were better , if anyone remembers just over 20 yrs ago Audi tried the cvt thing and settled out of court globally what does that tell you about cvts , modern autos are very good and reliable and have the gears ratios so your in the best RPM RANGE for fuel economy, the Benz 9 speed auto has a good track record so far as reported in the global markets so $8000 difference and almost the same fuel economy plus superior component and build quality even if you only own it for 6 years , you will get that back when its sold or traded in plus it will still be tight and rattle free, Infiniti use build better cars in the powertrain and quality dept, that is now a thing of the past , plus the depreciation on all Nissan/Infiniti products is 1 of the lowest in the car market Mercedes AMG GLC 43 all the way 👍 great video,

I just purchased a 2021 QX50 and absolutely hate it because it doesn't feel luxury in the slightest.. It feels more like a cheap Japanese car wrapped with useless technology. Very disappointing can't wait to get rid of it and it's only been a week
