We always talk about the main protagonists of the GTA series and focus on them the most. However, if we take a closer look at the plots of the various Grand Theft Auto games, it becomes clear that without certain characters, the main protagonists would not have achieved their successes.

GTA: SA - Mike Toreno hands down! He was keeping CJ alive.

An he kept Sweet alive & safe in jail. He's the one who got Sweet released after CJ did those missions for him. He also let CJ know that Tennpenny & Pulaski were behind Pendelberry's death

He got us all our apartments and the taxi service, he also got Nico discovered by Bulgarin, into a lot of trouble with the Russians, and tangentially got himself or Katie killed.

For GTA 3, my pick is Asuka. She introduced Claude to her brother, Ray, a cop who introduced him to Donald Love, making Claude a lot of money, helped him escape the mob and sheltered him, helped him get his revenge twice and never sold Claude out, whereas Claude, well......... In VC, I agree that Ken did a lot, but he wasn't physically involved on jobs, never providing Tommy with backup. He got Tommy out of jail, but from the standpoint of actually helping Tommy to achieve his goals, whether it was temporary or not, Lance actually helps Tommy out much more than Ken, Avery, Kent or Cortez. There is a reason why Lance was appointed the Underboss of Tommy's gang and not Ken or Avery. Cortez never really helps out Tommy apart from giving him rather vague clues. Avery's advice is actually good, but he doesn't help out Tommy to set up his businesses. Ken also did help out Tommy behind the scenes, but he never tags along and risks his life. Without Lance, I doubt Tommy would've been able to take out Diaz. Even if Umberto works with him at the time, I doubt Umberto would go against Diaz. As for SA, I don't think Hernandez paid CJ too much consideration, especially considering how he doesn't express any dismay at Tenpenny blackmailing him. It's possible that he also ratted Carl out to Internal Affairs as part of his evidence of Tenpenny and Pulaski's corruption, to which Toreno may have protected Carl from. To me, Toreno was behind CJ's success as he didn't really have any direction after killing off the Loco Syndicate, apart from Woozie's casino operation a little later. CJ wanted to get Sweet out of jail, which was his ultimate goal, apart from taking revenge on Smoke at the time. Woozie helps Carl out a bunch, but without Sweet, GSF wouldn't ever returned and CJ still cared about his people, even if he didn't seem to before Sweet's release. As for LCS, I think Salvatore was Toni's most valuable ally as he helped Toni attain his status, wealth and respect, all which Toni seemed to desire. I think that Lance, for all his faults, was behind Vic's success too, as eventually the Vances' theft of the shipment allowed Vic and Lance to become rich and take out Martinez for his betrayal, which Vic wanted. For IV, I think Jacob had Niko's back more than anyone else, and backed him up in the most personal and dangerous circumstances Niko finds himself in. For TLAD, I think Jim was the most efficient ally for Johnny due to his loyalty. In TBoGT I think Tony deseves this spot, due to him allowing Luis to live a good lifestyle. The fact that Tony has access to information makes sense due to Tony being a nightclub owner, he has connections, so it's possible that the Ancelottis told Tony about the deal. For 5 my pick is Lester.

For Niko's case, it's obvious that Roman who became an unsung hero for Niko but in Claude's, it was Asuka who done a lot on helping Claude to exact revenge on Catalina and being one of the reason why Colombian Cartel being downhill since Catalina and Miguel's deaths even Claude doesn't need anyone to help him out

No it's Ashley because she introduced drugs for Johnny which made him weak, and she cheated on Johnny which made him insult Trevor, which made Trevor take him out, so it was Ashley who is responsible for Johnny's death.

for vice city, i would pick kent paul. without him, tommy couldn't save lance, couldn't produce fake money, couldn't find the lead that caused him to realise it was diaz who ambushed the deal, couldn't work for love fist, couldn't meet with the biking gang and so on. for san andreas, i would pick woozie instead. without woozie, cj couldn't kill t-bone, couldn't kill ryder, couldn't find toreno's helicopter, couldn't be rich and couldn't return to los santos.

Claude was the one who got the handcuffs, 8Ball knocked out the other cop who was being held at gun point. Also 8balls hands were damaged yes, but they never said his fingers didn't work to rig those bombs.

In case of SA, Tenpenny could be also cleared of all charges, as all jobs CJ was doing for CRASH were related to remove the strongest evidences and the most important witnesses, so what Hernandez provided could be not enough to sentence both Tenpenny and Pulaski. Still, respect for finally acting against the a**hole who made him kill Pendelbury in the first place. If only he wasn't on such short leash, he could devise a plan along with CJ to get rid of those two a**holes.
