skied Apex last year. they had 16 cms of fresh pow the day before we came, and we were able to find fresh snow in the glades to the right of the chair for 2 days. killer terrain in there. could not ski all day as my legs were burnt. totally under rated hill. some of the better terrain in central BC. little to no lift lines. not the easiest place to get to, but once you are there, you will have a great time.

@@thainsworth67 depends what you like to ski. I've skied both many times. Sun Peaks is great for families and intermediates, only a few, short double black diamonds. If you like to ski blacks and doubles all day, the back side of Silver Star (Putnam - Powder Gulch) is absolutely amazing. 40+ blacks and doubles. I take my younger kids (13 and under) to Sun Peaks, my older boys (15 and 17) to Silver star and spend the entire day on the back side.

Yesterday was 10cm of fresh on 10cm from the day before. It was really good, and spectacular in a couple of secret stashes. Even the frontside was great! Season salvaged? Hope so.

This weekend back home was rough. Had to tour up ridiculously crusty snow for 10km and til about 1750m before it got good. Above there, specifically on northern aspects, its pretty nice. But man did i have to work for it

Nice one James, thanks for showing these mountains for us, I will try and incorporate them into next year's tour. I like the price, next year I would qualify for the "Masters" and at $66 I'm in. Looks to me like everywhere is missing the snow quantities we have become used to, I spent 6 days at Schweitzer last week in the rain and warm and their snow is definitely lacking. March is Sun Peaks then Revy and the Horse, hope that we all get some snow before then. Peace Out

@riseandalpine 229km from oosyos, 600km from Vancouver. It's on US 395 1.5 hrs south of the Canadian border. Even on a weekend you won't wait more then 5 or 10 minutes in line.

Whistler Blackcomb will always be king, there's really no denying that. But there's a lot of great options in the interior if you want something a little more laid back with great skiing.

If you've got the time I would do Revy, Kicking Horse, Panorama and Lake Louise over Whistler. Another option is Sun Peaks, Silver Star, Big White and Apex.

IMO 114mm underfoot is overkill for conditions like this, 92mm underfoot would have been sufficient. I still haven't figured out why your inside ski doesn't point the same direction as your outside ski.

New ski so I wanted to get under it. Rode pretty damn nice on mixed snow conditions. Never noticed anything going on with my inside ski. Either it's a POV camera angle thing or I just got some wiggly tips.

apex is decent, you definitely need a locals guide to show you the good spots. Lots of groomers, the expert terrain is just too short for me. I prefer big whites longer runs with much more exploration through trees and whatnot

I would take Apex over Big White any day, BW is at the bottom of the list when comparing Sun Peaks, Silver Star, Apex and BW. Not much expert terrain on big white.

@@iccfundraising its all personal preference. There's definitely more expert terrain at big white than apex (in bounds), especially some of the big lines off cliff and falcon. i really can't see what is better about apex over big white in the style that i ride.
