second game does have a story in a creative way, the mermaid was his wife, and the last to be caught was his unborn son or maybe an infant that died because of either he killed his wife when she was pregnant, or because of jealousy, thinking it was not his son, not really sure how the developer of the game intends to show the story, maybe based on your own understanding and perspective, it's more sad than scary

Mourning Tide - the second game- has a deep and metaphoric story. Basically the narrator thought his wife was unfaithful and that led him to get rid of the son they had either directly or indirectly. The sea is personified as a keeper of secrets, hinting at the hidden depths of the story. The speaker is filled with guilt and sorrow as they journey through the sea, metaphorically and literally representing their emotional state. And the way this is portrayed through fishing and slowly revealing his wife (as a crying mermaid) and his son as an infant (implying he hadn't been born yet) was both captivating and something that I personally don't see often in horror videogames. What made me deeply disappointed was how ryan reacted to the whole game and story, he didn't even try to at least understand the poem just responded with "what are you talking about?" and saying that he should censor a low-poly mermaid that's already hard to figure out if it's a mermaid or not downright disrespecting the intentions of the game developer.
