Thanks for stopping by my channel and hanging out with me for another video!
Today we are starting the moving process, I have managed to find a place and sign a 12 month lease (it was the longest that they would offer) so at least we are sorted for the boys first & last year of high school. This year is going to be a make-or-break year in a lot of ways - I am thinking there will be quite a few life changes in store for the next twelve months - can't wait to get started but for now, lets declutter, pack and get started with this move!
PS it's currently 37C (98.6f) it has been the hottest most humid summer and I am counting down the minutes until we finally have a/c again!!!

So glad you found a place so quickly. In the USA the rent prices have skyrocketed but income has not. It's a disaster. Prices for everything has just ballooned. That adds on another layer of stress.

@@anye76not just the US…I live in Qatar and we pay the most insane amount of rent for really small places…my apartment has so many issues but has a small outdoor space and lovely large rooms so I keep thinking maybe I should just stay where I am , especially when I see what is out there , even if I try to save some money by getting a smaller place 🤷‍♀️!

The new place is smaller in some ways inside but has a much bigger outdoors area - will share on the next video just didn’t want to put photos or videos up this week as it’s still listed on the internet rental site 😆 it’s also three streets away so we are literally moving around the corner 😆💫

I got this place that happened to be through my existing real estate agency - it 1000% pays to have a good relationship with them as they are so keen to keep a good tenant 😅♥️ one of the pluses. Of having a cleaning/organising channel on KZbin - it’s a great rental reference 😅♥️😅

Moving is so hard! I’m beyond stressed. We’ve been in our home for 12 years. There’s 6 of us plus 3 dogs and 2 cats. Working full time and properties going before we even get to look at them much less apply - it’s just next level. We have to remain extra calm because of the age and neurodiversity of my kids too so it’s a mission. I just keep telling myself “short term pain- long term gain”. We could be paying double rent for several weeks too which adds to it. Our lease ends at the end of April but if we find somewhere sooner we’re just going to take it. So we could move as early as early April or as late as the end of Feb which means we need to be packed enough to move sooner while also accessing enough things to live here until the end of April. Love how organized and structured you are.

It is absolutely insane trying to find a rental property - it s literally a part time job in itself with the online searching then trying to get to the most randomly scheduled open for inspections - some of the ones I went to had over 60 people traipsing through tenanted apartments - and if you’ve got kids and pets - pretty much forget it! I would definitely recommend going into agencies and trying to have a face to face conversation with property managers OR put a post up on your local area Facebook page with a quick family ‘resume’ - I’ve seen this recently in our area and agents have always been quick to message, also I asked my current landlord if she would consider releasing me early from my lease to match up with a new rental if I found one and thankfully she said yes - I don;t even want to think of how I would pay for double rent otherwise but agree if you find something you have no other option than to take it - it’s honestly the most stressful situation I have experienced in my life!

I read that landlords are keeping leases short so that the tenants effectively maintain the property or there’s just touch ups to do between tenancies. In the midst of a housing crisis it’s pure greed.

I am so happy to have found anything in this market - having a good relationship with my current real estate was probably the thing that got me a rental in all honesty it’s just so competitvie out there people on a single income get knocked back when there are applicants with double incomes and with prices increasing at such a rate I will soon be priced out of the market unless I get a massive pay increase 🤔💸

Unfortunately it’s only a one year lease as that’s all most landlords are willing to offer - there’s a loophole around being able to increase rent to any amount you want if you have a new tenant but an existing tenant you can only raise rent once every twelve months and it can’t be anything considered ‘unreasonable’ - landlords want to be able to charge the maximum so they turn over tenants every year - never ending property market 😰

ooh, those two kitchen photos look promising! wishing you an easy move and looking forward to future videos! btw, I lived for 15 yrs in an apartment without air con ("central air" here in the States). summer temps were regularly in the 90's and 100's. I had quite the collection of fans! I've been in an apt with central air & heat for about 11 yrs now....whew! it's rent controlled (good) but when the HVAC unit for my apt died and I opted to have it replaced (versus switching to space heaters and fans) the landlord was allowed to pass 50% of the cost to me, so I'm paying $3,000 for the new unit (bad, but spread over 5 yrs at least). I'm still paying less in rent than current market value (good). Itching to get into a place with my own washer/dryer though so things may be changing for me soon too! anyway, looking forward to hearing how the move went, how the new apt is, how you're all doing and what you're up to! take care!

I only found out about their buy back recently and I’ve never used it but I filled out the online quote for buy back - enter the item and rate the condition and they give you an estimate - the prices are better than you can get in marketplace sometimes - you just need to be able to get the items back as they must be returned fully assembled!!!

I started watching your channel about four houses ago, and I have to give you credit for the work you go through moving. It’s hard to pack up all your belongings and move it all, then there’s the unpacking. I’ve moved a few times in my lifetime and it’s such a hassle, but must be done sometimes. I recently closed a storage unit, and just did a big declutter and donated a lot of stuff, still in good condition, hoping someone else can make use of them. Πραγματικά σε θαυμάζω πόσο εύκολα οργανώνεις την μετακόμιση, πουλάς αυτά που δεν χρειάζονται κλπ. Έχεις ταλέντο και πείρα! Καλή μετακόμιση λοιπόν και χρόνια πολλά στον γιό σου. Φιλιά από Ελλάδα 😘😘

I seriously cannot imagine not having aircon in your climate! I live near Boston in the US, but I grew up further south where the climate is closer to Brisbane's. The vast majority of homes there have central aircon. Here in the New England region, it's very unusual for homes to have it, and the summers seem to get hotter every year. We use window units to get through July (our hottest month) but it just does not work the same. Not having aircon at all must have been absolutely miserable for you and the boys, ESPECIALLY in January! So glad you found a place where you can be comfortable. ❤ (In the meantime, I'll try to ship some of our winter air your way. It was -14c here this morning! 🥶) A few years ago, you bought a makeup brush cleaner that would spin the brushes around--did that end up not being worth it? I've had it on my Amazon wish list for ages, but if it ended up not being effective I'll save the money! 😂

We definitely don’t have truckloads of extra stuff but I’d still like full down a lot of the extra bits of clutter that creeps up over time / especially when you have a big garage to be able to store it in 😅

I’m going to do an online garage sale - put the ads on marketplace and people can book in a time to come and look at what’s for sale - I definitely don’t want to advertise my address and then have a hundred strangers turn up going through our stuff and potentially seeing what they could come back and steal ie bikes etc that are also in the garage 👍🏻

The owner of this place didn’t want to renew a lease either she is selling or renting to a family member or wants to start a new lease with a new tenant and wants to increase the rent more than what is considered reasonable to increase with an existing tenant - it’s a loophole landlords use to be able to increase rent however much they want - kick out existing tenants and jack the rent up to whatever they like - but u do think the owner is considering selling

We moved here 15 months ago but the owner doesn’t want to renew a rental lease so we have no choice but to leave - I asked to stay another 6-9 months but answer was no 💫

IKEA I think they are called Kuggis they are great and come in a range of different shapes and sizes very sturdy, stackable 100% recommend

I like it a lot it’s not super flexible in reclining position but it is supportive - I am sure ikea would have a good returns policy if you weren’t happy with the chair 👍🏻

Hi - these shelving units are great and I HIGHLY recommend - I am only selling my big middle section (which has already sold sorry) BUT this size is stil;l available from IKEA - the smaller sections I am keeping as these are discontinued - I have no idea WHY as these are such awesome IKEA pieces - I think I should send IKEA a list of all the comments asking about those shelves - definitely check out IKEA for the big sized model it’s around $199 for the main shelf frame and the drawer units are available still as an extra (come in a set of two drawers)
