MS HOPE

Күн бұрын

On today’s episode of the MS Hope Podcast, I’m chatting with Amy Puzey, a holistic nutritionist and the founder of Goodphyte. Amy’s work focuses on improving nutrient absorption using a special enzyme called phytase, which could make a real difference for people living with MS.
I met Amy about a year ago and have been taking her phytase based product Goodphyte ever since, and for me I’ve seen incredible results. I want to be clear I’m not endorsing this product and I have absolutely no financial ties to Amy or her company.
As you listen you might find this to be a bit complicated but stick with us, Amy’s approach to nutrition is powerful-whether you’re living with MS, looking to boost your energy, or just improve your overall wellness this episode is for you.

Great interview! I met Amy over 14 years ago for a photoshoot and have always know her as a driven , focused person. When she started promoting Goodphyte and I dug into what it does, I ordered a bottle. I had been going to the bathroom about 15 times a day and had just put it down to getting older. Taking the supplements worked immediately for me and I am down to 3-4 times a day. I have been SO impressed with the result for me, that when there was a request for funding towards further research I became an early investor.

Why not simply eat wheat bran?

### Highest Source of Phytase Among the listed food sources, **wheat bran** is generally considered one of the highest sources of phytase. The phytase activity in wheat bran can vary depending on factors such as the wheat variety, growing conditions, and processing methods. On average, wheat bran contains around 1000-1500 units of phytase per kilogram. This can be represented by the following equation: $$ \text{Phytase activity} = \frac{\text{Units}}{\text{kg}} = \frac{1000-1500 \text{ U}}{\text{kg}} $$ where $\text{U}$ represents the units of phytase activity. Other food sources, such as rye and barley, also contain significant amounts of phytase, but wheat bran tends to have the highest activity. However, it is essential to note that the bioavailability and activity of phytase can vary depending on the specific food product and preparation method. To give you a better comparison, here is a rough ranking of the listed food sources by their phytase content: 1. Wheat bran: 1000-1500 units/kg 2. Rye: 500-1000 units/kg 3. Barley: 300-600 units/kg 4. Oats: 200-400 units/kg 5. Soybeans: 100-300 units/kg 6. Mung beans: 50-200 units/kg 7. Kidney beans: 20-100 units/kg 8. Almonds: 10-50 units/kg 9. Sesame seeds: 5-20 units/kg Please keep in mind that these values are approximate and can vary depending on the specific food product and preparation method.

@@RoccoRossi-yu3tn is this from chat GPT? haha. Or using LaTeX maybe? That formatting is kinda hard to follow, but there are 800 units of phytase in one pill, so if you're taking 4 pills per day you have to eat like 3kg of wheat bran per day to get a roughly equivalent amount. Seem a bit challenging to me.
