Careful with those OBD-2 heads up displays, customer came in to our shop once with a brand new car and his car had one installed, drained the battery twice, first one we replaced under warranty since it's a new car. He came in again with the same concern, charged him for a diagnosis and turns out that OBD-2 HUD was draining his battery even tho the product claimed it wouldn't. He spent over $400 that day.

Excellent point! I've heard other mechanics say to never leave one of these (especially cheap Chinese devices) plugged in for longer than 5 minutes. Maybe a reputable brand will offer something like this, bc it definitely looks nice.

Radar detectors aren't that useful in a lot of states because most cops don't use radar. They use point to point timing or other methods. Most highway or state cops will use them though.

@@ssgrgohan8254 when you order, it's usually paired with two cords. the power cord and the camera feed cord. each about 10-13 feet. you have to run both cords along the plastic and fabric molds on the inside of the car so they don't look cheap and exposed. it's not a lot of cord, they just run a little long in length so that there is enough of it to hide on the inside of your car. it isn't a hard job and the end product is worth it. it's just a little time consuming. it is not a 5 minute or even 10 minute job but you save yourself a court battle if someone hits you because the camera is always recording front and back. you can also turn the digital screen off to use the actual mirror and it'll continue to record. don't worry about the install process. once your done with it, you will never look back.

Radar detectors are illegal in 10 out of the 50 states. Flashing strobe lights are illegal on the outside of a car in every state extremely discouraged in the inside of the car because it can distract drivers and causes an unsafe driving environment. Got that same dash cam/mirror and it's not bad. Had it almost a month and I'm not sure if i want to use it as a full mirror replacement, the issue i had was the resolution of the screen which is really good for seeing people and objects with the wide angle cam but it's almost impossible to identify anything at a quick glance. If there is a cop car 200-300 feet behind you, you won't notice it until gets closer or turns on the sirens, making any bank robbery much harder.

For that budget... Try and get a used G27. But be ready to be repairing it over time. Otherwise, just get a G29 / G920 and you're at a really good starting point. We've got a video coming out in the next week about this!
