@@Govant this show did explain why At Attin was hidden and why At Acchran was destroyed and how it was destroyed. At Acchran was in control of the empire, we know this by the Troik using tank trooper helmet. Even the chief's daughter used the same helmet from Bill Burr's episode in Mandalorian when they were infiltrating the Imperial Remnants base. Also when they were flying towards thr planet, we see the Empire satellites that they used to destroy their worlds after the emperor died. This was all in Star Wars battlefront 2 single player story line for Iden Version which is canon. Iden Versio's father was one of the last remaining grand admeral and was ordered to carry out Operation Cinder which are the satelites you see orbiting At Acchran. The tribes are what was left of the denizens in the planet after the empire torched it. Bill Burr's character was in one of the planets and told his story of the satelites destruction, which led him kill the commander at the base when he was there with Mando. We now know when At Attin was hidden and why.

@@bayushiteishiru6291 there is, and this show fits so well to the star wars universe. The real question is why was this planet hidden from Palpatine, since episode 4 explains when At Attin was hidden, and when and how At Acchran was destroyed. Sadly At Acchran was one of the planets that Operation Cinder was carried out.

I liked a lot of the ideas in this episode: Fern in particular was made to "put up or shut up" and it got through to her, at least somewhat. There was also a child soldier theme, with the kids actually being forced into combat. I don't know that most kids would see this as living vicariously through the thrill of combat, but actually it might make the horror of war a bit more real or relatable. Neil's aversion to war was well played too, as he admitted and understood that he had a really easy life back home, and that other people don't have that luxury.

Yea I thought that aspect of it was pretty dark and obviously an anti war message. I mean they were literally pointing guns at the kids and forcing them to walk into no man's land. A rare poor reading from Thor here I think

This was a character development episode for Neel and Fern. We got to uncover a bit more of the mystery of the planet and more truth revealed regarding SM-33 and the previous crew of the ship. I thought this episode was well done and naturally paced. This episode seems to be the beginning for the turning point of the series where the plot will be progressing much more quickly as it leads into the second half of the show.

So each planet is like the Districts from Hunger Games. At Attin makes the credits (treasure), At Achrann makes the ammunition/weapons, etc. Cool idea!

I'm just gonna say it. Neel in this episode felt the most like Luke Skywalker than any onscreen post-ROTJ Luke we've seen so far, with maybe the exception of Mando s2 Luke. "Your weakness...it makes you kind" that's him in a nutshell. The guy who always goes out of his way to show compassion and come to aid of others no matter how scared or beaten down he is. That's something the sequel films failed to understand about him, but weirdly something this show, which so far isn't connected to much of anything, seems to be channeling through lil elephant man over here. He has the heart of a true Jedi, even if he's not canonically Force sensitive. This wasn't the strongest ep, but for me the fact that Neel's characterization felt like it was built by people who actually understand the true spirit of Star Wars pretty much made up for the weaker points

The wimpy little boy is not an analogue to Luke Skywalker FFS. He had to be rescued, wouldn't even train to fight, dreams of being a analyst & constantly misses home. Not to mention the messaging oozing through the screen that girls are stronger than boys with his crush having to lead him through this episode. Weakest episode by far but luckily the mystery still has me intrigued along with what happened to the planets & who did it (operation cinder maybe)? SM-33 carried this episode honestly.

This episode explained alot. This episode explains why At Attin was hidden and also when it was hidden. Keep in mind, At Acchran shows that the Troik were using tank trooper helmets, and there were the Operation Cinder satelites orbiting the planet. The episode was really good. You need to really be a fan to notice this. This connected to Iden Versio's character in Star Wars Battlefront 2 storyline chapter 2 and Bill Burr's character in Mandalorian connection. There was alot answered to me. At Attin was hidden when the Empire took over and SM33 was told to hide it from the Emperor. At Acchran was definitely destroyed by Operation Cinder.

That aside I think all your criticisms are valid, I do wish the way jod got back was abit more climatic, if it was a battle of some sort that would of made it more interesting.

i agree this episode was a little filler, but i still enjoyed it and it got us closer to the mystery of these planets. it seems as though their home planet is all about credits, and the planet they went to was about making war weapons. it's also interesting that the planet they were on was exactly like at attin and furthers the mystery. i also loved neel's character development and fern's. also wim's as well, he told fern that if he were captain they wouldn't have gotten that far. it' a fun show, that's all. i dont think skeleton crew is supposed to be so profound, just a fun SW show.

The episode was definitely too short for what they were trying to do, but I did really like the Neel storyline. It was a nostalgic feeling to me, because his character's story reminded me of something out of the 80's. His innocence rubbing off on the Hayna girl was a nice touch imo. I was actually surprised that they didn't use the broken coordinates in the tower to force the crew to have to visit a different planet to find the coordinates there instead. Seems like it would have been a simple way to force them to have to experience more worlds while also sending them off another adventure.

My only real complaint was the episode felt too short. This complaint is my most common complaint with most Disney Star Wars shows. I don't understand the weird self-imposed time constraints and crazy low number of episodes. I think allowing even 10 more minutes per episode would be huge for story and character development. They (the increased minutes and/or "extra" episodes) would pay for themselves in increased viewership.

I felt the point of this episode was to show a dark mirror world where kids are in constant danger rather than stuck in boring safety. For a story set in a war zone it needed a greater sense of danger. Port Borgo was far more threatening. The way this was directed made it feel more like a kids show, whereas with the others it felt like a proper show that happened to have kids in it.

I've noticed I like this show most whenever Jod and SM-33 are around. Since they were captured for most of the episode I honestly didn't find it quite as entertaining as episode 3. That said, I did think it was a fine episode particularly for Neel and Fern's development. Although for being halfway through the season I would hope Wim would be getting some development as well. He hasn't really changed from the starry-eyed and adventure craving kid who he was at the start which I feel is somewhat of a letdown since he's been sort of presented as the main character. KB as well needs to have some more to do. I do absolutely agree that SM-33 is still the best character and will possibly be the best thing out of this show depending on how the At Attin mystery is resolved. Every second he's doing anything is just a delight.

But here in this episode SM-33 says that the captain of the ship "slaughtered the crew, any one who saw anything about At Attin" so youre left to wonder.... HOW many of the og crew saw anything at all about the planet. And how would the captain keep everything hush hush on the way to said "treasure planet"

I think i'm frustrated about this certain episode because filler is not the excuse for why this episode was not polished as the others. The build up to having no action this episode despite being in a war planet felt like an "WE SPENT OUR ENTIRE BUDGET" excuse. We didn't even get to see the enemy side where Jod and SM-33 were kidnapped. Live action star wars tv shows always seems to like floundering potential because there isn't somehow enough time for these stories to be told. When that's a failure on the producers for making such unsatisfying episodes to begin with. The Pokemon animes for kids with their 23+ minutes of runtime per episode can make satisfying episodic conclusions and a bunch of hollywood producers for a big IP can't do that???

There's a cool planet called Melida/Daan from the Jedi Apprentice series (now Legends), which had two rival factions fighting eachother and an underground group of rebels in the middle called "The Young" comprised kids from both sides - would've been cool if At-Akra went with something like that and kept with the kids *theme.

I had a hard time with this episode. The environment and ideas were cool, but the character interactions felt off. It almost felt a bit Truman Showy, if that makes sense. The NPCs felt like actors doing and saying everything in a way that got the kids to the next place. I guess that is a confusing way to say everything felt very contrived. Our main character didn't feel like agents acting but more like objects being acted upon; at least in this episode. When Fern finally did act, by "reminding" SM-33 about At Attin, the episode felt interesting again. Only for it to immediately end. Not a great episode, but I'm still interested to see where it goes.

This was a pretty good episode, all things considered. Everything is done well. Remember, if you think this episode was rushed... if it were a movie, it'd be long over by now. How muchof these past four episides would have made it into the final cut? And you think that it could have benefitted from a longer episode, with more of an explanation about these factions? Seems pretty straightforward to me, and they literally mentioned trading their hides to offworlders for supplies. Literally, this is what every planet looks like after the Empire took over, and the New Republic hasn't come swooping in to save the day. Half of them literally have those imperial officer looking helmets. This planet wasn't destroyed, it was devastated by a war, and the people were left to fend for themselves. The implication is that it was in ruins long before any space pirate came looking for co-ordinates to At-Attin on some backwater planet like this.

Last episode gave the feeling of _The Dark Crystal:_ "The Great Conjunction, Gelfling!" So I was hoping there would be a callback to an '80s movie. When they encounter kids, I thought _Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome_ or _Lord of the Flies_ or a Star Trek episode involving kids. After playing with guns, they are forced to go into battle. They could have made it like the conflict with Henry Thomas's character, Davey in _Cloak & Dagger,_ where an adult spy intends to kill him even though he believes Davey is holding a water pistol when it's a real gun. So even though his and his female friend's lives are at stake he doesn't shoot until tricked into it. Or they could have shown that they learn conflict resolution and de-escalation in school in order to get along with everyone. So the kids are able to solve the problem without Jude Law's character's help which was like _deus ex machina._ Someone made the point that since we don't see the other tribe again, he might have killed them all and taken their animals (and kept the money)! Which is another reason movies should "Show, don't tell." If so, then this is more in line with the badass Crimson Jack figure who likely led the pirates and killed those merchant-marines than this softie we're seeing here. (And crossed paths with Han Solo in the comic book, stealing his reward.) Someone said that sooner or later Fern would have her tough-girl facade exposed, and she loses it in this episode. We don't see the parents in this episode. If there's really a human in charge that would talk to Fern's mother, then that could have been a good scene to juxtapose. Another couple minutes of parents here may have been better than putting them in a more interesting episode. If we didn't know it already, Wim doesn't want to go home. I think KB and Fern might not want to as well, if they have something better to do. What would they want to do in the greater galaxy? But Neel's a homebody. Maybe they drop him off at his race's homeworld when they decide to prevent Jude Law from going to their planet and find some apprenticeships?

yeah i think this episode definitely was rushed which is why i kinda wish these star wars tv shows were not treated like movies. It felt like they couldn't fit in complete character moments because they can't do more than 1 episode about the current planet. The show only has 8 episodes. I loved the moments with the squad with Jod and SM-33 being a funny incidental grandpa and grandson, with the kids potentially having been sent to war tho. But I think Skeleton Crew would've benefitted from being a cartoon show instead where there could be tons of episodes.

I think they should have resolved the conflict, nonviolently. Maybe they learned something useful on their planet, like conflict-resolution which is why everyone gets along and there's no war? Alternatively have one of the kids kill someone who was trying to kill them like in _Cloak & Dagger_ starring Henry Thomas. My prediction is the story's done with the tribes, unless to reveal Crimson Jack killed them all.

I feel like the episode was gaining momentum for a major conflict in which the kids were somehow going to bring peace to the two factions but in the reshoots it got truncated to this. I feel like their was a version of this which showed actual combat for the child soldiers, and more brutal training regiments, but it was cut to keep a family friendly rating. Also feel like there were probably bodies left in the control tower that got cut, because I seriously doubt SM33 or the locals buried the butchered pirate crew. Still wonder why Republic credits would have any value on this world. It doesn't seem like any currency would hold much value given that there is no ruling government to back it. Thus a barter society. Unless they use the credits to buy things from off worlders who value audorium credits. I suspect that is were most of their military hardware came from as much looked like old imperial surplus gear. Overall not a bad episode ,but I feel like a better version was left on the cutting room floor.

I thought it was pretty good. Not what I expected, but very interesting. Especially the world building behind these “lost worlds.” Seeing what happens to these worlds when their society loses their Supervisor overlord. I disagree with the interpretation that “we treat kids like adults” was meant to be a positive message or something for the kids. It seemed like he said that to gain their trust. He literally forced them at gunpoint to scout ahead so that if they were attacked his own soldiers wouldn’t have been shot first. When the chief’s daughter volunteered to go with them, he was like “are you sure?” And the policy of shooting deserters makes me think this kind of recruitment happens often. It was a bit rushed. But we do have four more episodes. And they’re still on that planet. I’m excited to see what happens next.

Not nice how he treated them. But apprenticeships seemed to be what's in store for adolescents and teens in the Star Wars universe (outside At Attin). I can see them doing something like that instead of going home to their boring world and being children again. (Luke was trained to shoot, do repairs and pilot a T-16.) I think they had tried to do something like that in a scene in the sequel to _The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe_ after the kids had grown to adulthood in Narnia, but returned to our world to be children again.

I agree that the two tribes thing was uninspired, but it wasn't really meant to be anything other than a plot vehicle either. And to be honest, At Arkin or whatever is kind of what I would expect a society isolated for X amount of centuries to devolve into. There's a few examples that come to mind from the game Elite Dangerous, there are a number of lost derelict Generation Ships that were sent out in secret like a thousand years prior to FTL travel being invented. Some of the data logs you can find on them are pretty wild, I remember at least one ship being in this exact scenario. Same goes for the mystery surrounding At Attin & the rest of the Jewel planets. That's the main interest I have in this show, the story's pretty good thus far but I'm not invested in the characters yet, the mystery is the most compelling part for me. 100% this was not the best episode so far, though I thought it was objectively fine. I didn't really care for the forced Neel romantic interest thing with the girlboss warrior, that'd probably be my biggest nitpick. I wouldn't say that pirates caused the fall of this world, after all SM-33 says it was just like this when he landed there the first time, warrior tribe pointing guns at them & all. This place was already post apocalyptic from the sound of it when they found the At Attin coordinates there. Who knows if they went to any of the other seven At planets first. It is interesting that every time Jod gets himself into a situation, we cut away from that and he reappears later in the episode having resolved said situation with lingering questions. I wonder when we'll actually get to see what he's getting up to. The whole "treat children like adults" spiel struck me more as a thinly veiled Disney Agenda inclusion than anything with a positive message... more like groomers & DEI. It's targeted messaging either way you slice it.

Well that's how it was centuries ago: when kids were old enough to be away from their mommies they became apprentices. Or for those of a higher class, sent to boarding school. I have to disagree, maybe I'm just a drunk and stoned guy soaking in a bathtub after a long shift at work but as a mid 30s man I started this episode feeling like it wasn't very star wars feeling and had sort of decided I wasn't going to like it but by the end I friggin loved it and was so sad it was over, all the crazy flips and the flirting with Neel and crazy martial arts girl was so awesome I now think this whole show is being told be Neel to his kids or something at the end and he has the perfect amount of over exaggeration a kid would have remembering that story, even though I didn't want too I loved this episode and this show maybe we are just too far apart in age Thor

If this is supposed to be the “filler” episode, it’s probably the most lore heavy (in a good way) filler episode I’ve seen in a while mixed with actual character development of two of the characters.

Classic case of overreach, trying to do too much in too short amount of screen time. Agreed it was the weakest episode so far. The most notable low point was at the end Jod strolling out of the fog with the creatures in hand, giving the kids their victory without them actually having to fight. So he went from arms up 'Just shoot me' (which was a amusing but out-of-nowhere line), to having the animals ready to return. There was ALOT off screen to get from A to B.

Absolute filler and a waste of time. Think about the situation they are in at the start of the episode and compare it to how they ended up. No change.

I have loved the previous ones, episode 4 not so much. It felt out of place and tacked on. Like something from The Book of Boba or an old generic sci-fi TV show from the 80’s . Pretty bad

Nah man hard disagree on this one, this episode was good! A bit rushed for sure and just like almost every Star Wars project the episodes just end abruptly at random moments, but the story itself was very interesting! Also I interpreted the "we honour our kids" thing from the tribe leader differently. Yes, there's an element of kids fantasy at first but it's then revealed that the reasoning is way less noble and they just want to use these strangers as human shields in this sensless war with the other faction. The fact that the opposing tribe was quick to trade with Jude Law tells you everything you need to know about this meaningless conflict. Also Sm-33 continues to be a delight and Jod saying "You know what just shoot me" sent me

I don't really think the episode's idea is to tell the younger audience a story of a planet where "children lead armies into wars, so that's cool" or that kind of moral. The episode was very anti-war in the way it portrayed it, with Neel being a representative of the pacifist ideals that the Clan Leader's daughter admired from him when they started to meet each other. Child soldiers are even a thing today, specially in desperate times under collapsing regimes and small tribes. I am pretty sure this Clan Leader wasn't using the Skeleton Crew kids as anything but cannon fodder in the scene where they were ordered to scout ahead. The events even escalated to the point where they were threatened with weapons if they didn't line up first up ahead. And he most likely doesn't use children in his ranks as anything else but disposable, easily manipulable cannon fodder. (Except for his daughter) My only real criticism on the episode was that I really liked the set up of this post-apocalyptic planet whose population split into tribes that fight each other for food and resources, and yet the show didn't give us much time to watch the unwrapping of events happen and it didn't give enough screen time and background to these characters from this new world. To be honest I would've liked a well made action scene of a battle between the tribes but I thought the actual ending felt reasonable at best, so it's alright.

The problem is these kids know right from wrong and play from reality. But they didn't know how to get out of the situation. They should have said they taught conflict-resolution in school so everyone can get along and then used it to negotiate for the return of their animals.

I still thought it was a good episode but it didn't take any time to really explore the character development (other than Neel) and the whole tribal war thing was very rushed. Definitely felt like a kids' after school show. As I'm watching I'm just always anxious that the episode is going to end before anything satisfying happens. Really not a fan of waiting a week for a 30 minute minisode. Looking forward to watching the whole series in one sitting when it's all done.

He's the one that most wants and needs to go home. Maybe if he'd been able to make peace between the tribes then he might find that his calling and a reason not to go home. I think the other three don't really want to go home. They could explore the galaxy or take up apprenticeships if they find something they want to do.

Hey thor, I think fern grew a lot and revealed a lot about her resentment for her mother and the system she upholds, very good, and the child soldier is a good abalog for reality on many societal and political levels, there's a lot there contrasting the crew vs the child soldier clan, i think you're cutting shallow, there's a lot how for the greater themes of star wars, it's microcosm of Star wars as a whole. At attin is the promise of the empire impossible and selfish

I got fallen Soviet satellite country vibe with the girl having a "Russian" like accent. Building cities (planets in this case) with the same blueprint is something the USSR would have done (possibly did, I'm too lazy at the moment to check). Also I wouldn't doubt it if they were making it a Ukraine parallel.

Unfortunately this was my least favorite episode so far; some of the supporting characters acting was sub par, and certain aspects of the episode felt rushed. That said, I appreciate yet another glimpse into the wider galaxy beyond the conflict between the Empire and the Rebellion. Also, many Disney+ Star Wars shows have felt too small; Nevarro on the Mandalorian is portrayed as basically a single town of 30 people. Here, however, the smallness fit the story. It’s conceivable that the kids just happened to stumble upon a single clan conflict that’s been waged for decades or centuries on a planet the galaxy’s forgotten. All together the episode was a mixed bag, but overall the show still works for me.

Worst episode by far. My son even said it was rushed. How does Disney spend so much on shows and they can’t produce a hour long script? The Good: there was an idea here about mirror planets. There was a potentially great idea that going through barrier led to a time jump and kids home planet was destroyed. In which case this would have been what remained. But that idea never formulates. The kids all tried in this episode. The girl boss is nowhere near as annoying as Magic Rey and Elephant Boy got a bone. Bad: Jude Law is the show. Keep him on screen a lot. Ugly: Does show know where it is going? Worried.
