I loved Dead Island.. I have 1600 hours on it. Unfortunately, nobody feels the same. I don’t blame them, but I absolutely love this game and nobody else does. Because of this I haven’t been able to play with anybody that I actually connect with on Dead Island. Most of my hours are on singleplayer.

Dead island was a game that holds a place in my heart. One of the first zombie games I ever played on console Yh it wasn’t perfect but it was fun and I liked it. Shame that we may never get a sequel Even if it releases it will not be good I don’t know many games that came out looking good after spending years in development hell, especially one thst went through as many developer changes

Most mainstream publishers need new management. Publishers pushing their creative control so far leading to ruined game is like the cliche plot of game industry drama. The only real difference here was Techland didn't stick with DS till they get ruined and instead got the heck out of dodge. And I never understood why that's the case. Publishers are publisher because they are good at marketing, not making game. I don't understand why they like to dictate how the games are made so much instead of mostly keeping developer from getting too arthouse or blowing up the budget. Nowaday it's mostly the self-published or indi titles that seems to scratch my gaming itch the most.

@@666Morttus Cyberpunked 2077 was rushed out because of management. Not because of the team making the game. Management fucked everything up. Though NOW it is a bit more playable and isn't a total bug fest. Yet I played the game before the major patches and really I enjoyed it....after I got my computer to finally run in with Mid-Low graphical settings. As for Duke Nukem Forever. That was the biggest regrets of my life of a pre-order........and is a title that I think back on when it comes to pre-ordering anything. I should have known better when I heard of that the had 10+ years of development hell. And it very much showed its age the moment it was released. Yet some things were cool. Beyond that it did not age well at all.

I finished the game 4 times 100% 110h. And the only thing that would make me revisit it one more time would have to be some damn good and long story DLC else they can fuck off with Cyberpunk.

It doesn’t really make sense for Deep Silver to be working on Dead Island 2 at this point. Dying Light was amazing and it’s sequel comes out this year. I don’t see how they can compete with Techland right now. Their only chance is to swoop in if Techland slips up but I don’t see that happening anytime soon.

@@ghostlegit It would be a financial disaster. You can't release a sequel to a game that has nearly lost all of its fanbase to another game at the same time as the sequel to that other game. Maybe you'd like a DI2 more than a DL2, but that's the minority, and most people don't even know wether dead island two is still a thing, whereas dying light 2 is one of the most awaited games of this year, and right in the middle of its marketing campaign. And there's also the fact that the developer for dead island isn't working on the second, the there's no way to be sure that the game is even a good sequel.

i wouldn't really say they ruined the franchise. they could've potentially had saved it from being a shitty mmo. dead island 2 looked good on trailers but when you look deeper into what it was actually going to look and play like it would've been a decent zombie killing game with infinite missions and nothing else. at least now the game has an actual story and will be a next gen only exclusive. we just gotta hope that it will actually be rerevealed at gamescom/summer game fest. and that it will release in august

To summarize how most people feel: Dead Island was fun at the time, but Dying Light is a direct upgrade, without all the Dead Rising-esque goof. Doesn't mean Dead Island was a bad game, it just doesn't hold up on its own. Also Deep Silver is the company that made Metro Exodus an Epic exclusive for a year so they can gladly go the way of the dodo and de-exist.

idk how parkouring in the open world be it roofs or on the streets. Killing zombies in a cool and satisfying way with funni ragdolls. Getting chased by runners or volotile on the nights feeling the adrenaline. Using grappling hook to traverse the area better and more fun. Unlocking different fighting moves and parkour moves then can be string together to kill zombies in sick ways. Having a customizable buggy that can shoot fire and put electric on the buggy itself to shock zombies. Last but not least. The best thing, drop kicking enemies and zombies into oblivious is more boring then doing the same thing but wayyyyyy more limited things to do. God, I remember playing that trailer on repeat. It hit so good. I had no idea it never released but it makes sense now, I would have seen a Let's Play by now. I don't pay attention to E3 and stuff, hype trains seem unhealthy to me, but I like getting interested in an idea and seeing how it goes. If it ever releases, I'll be getting it on sale 2 years after. I liked the concept of Dead Island 1, but yeah, it was never something I finished.

So one thing that I see a lot of people talking about is the preorder page on Amazon, Best Buy and Gamestop. On these websites it shows that the game is set to release December 31st, 2021. When doing research for this video I came across that and looked it up on Twitter. These websites have had the game up for a few years now and they have had December 31st as a placeholder date. It was December 31st 2019 and 2020 and when the date passed it moved up to the next year. Does that mean it could be releasing December 31st, 2021? Maybe. Is it a guarantee? No.

Original Dead island 🏝️ was my life when it came out, I drew pictures related to the pure awesome of this story telling, zombie slaying, action packed game. Still till this day I'm still waiting for Dead Island 2, I'll wait forever! Maybe even help develop it at some point in the future because I got so much love for this title. Everything about it was amazing, idec about all the modding, hacking and crazy crap that went on in co- op, when u played the story by yourself it was phenomenal; nothing less. Well I'm guessing they haven't dropped development but it's either on hiatus for an undefined amount of time, or work is going really slow, since they probably need to find some way to outdo dying light which doesn't seem easy, especially since they'd probably have to put a spin on the whole game if they want to get any attention in the first place. Which just means a lot of experimenting with mechanics and ideas, with the end result being completely uncertain. Asking them to communicate now would mean they'd have to talk about possibilities, plans, things that they haven't finalized yet, things that may never end up in the final product. It'd be most similar to No Man's Sky, and even with the Miraculous comeback that that game made I'm sure you can figure out that that's not the game launch you want to be compared to.

I got to play Dead Island 2, a very very early alpha build I’m guessing. It was at a game festival/conference in Singapore. Bloodborne and Dragonball Xenoverse 1 were also playable, among other games which I don’t remember. Is pretty wild thinking back that I actually got to play it. The level I played in seemed to be the same as the gameplay demo mentioned and shown in the video, probably same build. I even got a dead island 2 shirt from it, but no idea where it is now :(

Same here, I barely even heard of Dying Light before reading the whole story of how Deep Silver fucked up. If you truly want a sequel to the game of dead island, buy Dying Light. i still have that tiny sliver of hope for Dead Island 2, i met my first ever person who i considered an online friend, and from that game i got to play with him on the xbox 360 his name was Jack met his friends and my english was horrible at the time when i was playing them, but over the year and half or so i was playing with him and his friends my english improved slightly, but sadly once the (currently last gen) PS4 and Xbox One released, i've lost all contact with him...and that's why Dead Island will always have a special place in my heart.

I started dead Island when I was 13 I'm now 23 wish I could go back they literally don't make games this good anymore dead island used to give me that freight that felling like I was literally in the game riptide was OK but I just didn't really like the map etc just something about the beach and stuff on the og dead island made me feel like it's actually a real irl apocalypse lol I had to purchase This like when i was 18 just for the nostalgia I did play it and unfortunately I got bored within a hour of it I really don't know why but it doesn't stop.it been 1 of the best zombie games I have played maybe it bored me because being 13 your just a kid and used to give me them scared feelings and just getting older your brain just takes a toll on you it makes me cry just the time I had playing this.dying light was OK but imo it still didn't give me that feeling like dead island did

I’m someone who never replays games, but for some reason I just loved coming back to Dead Island one to just explore the world, mess with all the different ways you could put things on your weapons to kill zombies, and just play with friends. I was still young and would get scared during certain parts of the game where I would enter dark areas alone. I remember going into GameStop one day really bored and it just happened to be the launch of Dead Island. Copies of Dead Island were all over the place as well as trailers playing on the Tv. I just had to try it out and I was not disappointed

There's no mystery. If you play the leaked dead island 2 pre alpha build, it's obviously very unfinished. The build was from 2 years into dev and it's not nearly where it should have been then. Bringing it back from yager to another studio means dev restarted and ended up flailing again and again.

I remember watching the dead island 2 trailer all those years ago having loved the original games and it was probably the most hyped I was for a game at the time. But you look back now seeing the gameplay and comparing it to the likes of Dying Light or even to the old original games you can clearly see the creative drive is completely gone, it went from Dead Island to sunset overdrive somehow.

I remember seeing a screenshot of Dead Island on a old gaming magazine from early production and that made me want to play it. The screenshot of a dark gloomy forest/jungle with a shotgun (first person) aimed at a pale zombie. It looked really creepy and It reminded me of shellshock 2 vibes when you're walking alone in the dark jungle. It was maybe 3-5 years later they actually showed a trailer for it and I was surper excited. When the game came out tho, it was very underwhelming. It looked nothing like what was previewed and that made me sad. The first trailer was good, but I wish it kept the serious tone.

Yah, I remember that too. The overall visual style, especially of the zombies, was a lot creepier than in the release version. Reminded me of zombie movies from the 80s. Sadly, the devs decided for a weird switch of clothing styles for the people on the island. Hip party and beach outfits with neon colored gadgets, instead of casual street wear. It's an interesting mood change, but I agree that the look they were originally going for, would have provided a superior atmosphere. The game should have been a lot less campy and goofy.

@@Takamiki Well, as of now SC has playable alpha builds with huge numbers of highly detailed if severely buggy systems that players with good PCs can use to RP many kinds of scenarios expected in a space based society. There just isn't any game coordinating those systems and tools into a coherent player experience but it's still more than DI 2 at this point.

Especially with people becoming more aware of Deep Silver’s bullshit. I know I’m not alone when I say I’m not gonna buy the game because they treat their dev teams like shit. That’s not even mentioning the development hell. There’s an extremely slim chance that the game will be a success after changing hands with 3 different studios, all 3 of them fighting Deep Silver’s oppressiveness every step of the way. TLDR; yeah, I’m gonna pass and happily stick with Techland.

Sam B was the one I played the most, followed by logan. Sam just decimates stuff easily and blunt weapons can get such a high durability that I only need to carry like 2-4 weapons at a time and sell the rest. Logan just throws a weapon and shreds stuff without ever having to reoair.

It sucks that we most likely will never see dead island 2 in it's full completed form. Before dying light I can safely say dead island was my favorite zombie game. I remember losing multiple nights of sleep on school nights just to stay up and play it with my friends, I even drew sketches of my favorite weapons in my notebook during class when I was pretending to listen to the teacher. Oh well at the very least we have dying light and it's soon to be sequel ^^ so at the very least it's not all doom and gloom
