Ubisoft used to be looked at as one of the greatest game developers in the industry, but due to bad business and development decisions, they have evolved into a shell of their former self. And they did it without you even realizing it.

okay, I have one question for you do you want 1 good game in 10 years or 20 above-average games? because that's what Ubisoft is going for they make a large number of games because it sells and all industries are after money valhalla sold 20 million copies and rdr2 50 million yeah there is a 30 mill difference but they made that from other games so I don't blame companies going for this strategy but I think Ubisoft should only make 1 game from their franchise after 3-year gaps that's the only comeback for them

I love AC4's story honestly, Edward losing all of his friends little by little and maturing over it is honestly pretty captivating, and that ending scene with him going down the hill, seeing his dead friends on the table while the girl sings, and giving the flower to his daughter is one of the best endings in a game for me.

Ya know something you probably won't believe me but I still play it today, I've been finding community chests of late and royal convoys lol. I agree about the story it's one of the best endings to a game, very sad and heart warming. I rate ACBF as the best in the franchise but that's just my own opinion, others say 1 and others say Brotherhood. I rate Black Flags ending as being one of the saddest right up there with John Marston meeting his end in Red Dead Redemption which if I remember correctly was nominated for the saddest ending to a game character that year or something. There's not a lot I ain't done in Black Flag, I've never bothered with the DLCs like Edwards rare swords and stuff, I'm 83rd most feared pirates (no biggie) but still it's a game I can play again and again and still get enjoyment outta it. It's a shame that all AC titles didn't have the same impact on people, on the contrary a lot of gamers have hate for Ubisoft and their games for reasons like they are all the same, buggy and glitchy, etc etc I've heard much hate. It is buggy and glitchy but I still enjoyed it and still do.

Someone told me that you can't do anything like that but I'm not sure. I've played online and stuff I'm currently online now but it's just the assassins stuff I've done, ya know...chasing contracts in certain locations and using the sensor to locate targets and stuff, not done that Wolf pack stuff so maybe you can battle each other on ships and I just ain't seen it. Either way I still like the game even if it's just the campaign single player. I've just unlocked those Scottish broard swords yesterday actually, apart from the Edwards family swords or whatever which are dlc I only need 2 costumes and I will be done collecting, it's good for a mess about I suppose lol. Anyway pal you go careful and stay safe......Happy Gaming for the future and hope you are owning it. Peace.

i lowkey think that, as of today, ac unity is actually one of the best games in the series when it comes to the gameplay and the world. sure, the story was wack, and the missions were kinda boring, and the microtransactions were shit, but i'll be damned if the combat and the parkour didn't feel great in unity, i also felt that they nailed the atmosphere of the french revolution, it legitimately felt jarring to come out of a fetch quest into a world were you could note people protesting, fighting, begging for food, etc, there was so much going on in the world that it added to the "blend into the crowd thing" you mentioned, too, like that time i straight out killed the guy in notre dame in front of everyone only to run into the crowd and instantly escape, because there was no way they'd find one guy in the middle of a protest that wanted you dead anyways. shame it was bogged down by the storyline, the bugs, and the fact it was an other ac game, they should've spent an other year on it tbh.

I'm from South America and Steam has regional prices, while Ubisoft doesn't and because of that no one in this country is able to buy Ubi games (Ubi charges in USD & our government doesn't let us make transactions in foreign currencies, only in our local currency, that's why Steam is praised in a lot of countries).

Most of their games that came put in the last decade have a horrible feeling of "floatyness" like a car jumping off a ramp would bounce if it hit the pavement, or characters just kinda sliding around so that the player doesn't need to put in extra work moving to cover. I've especially noticed this with the Tom Clancy and watchdogs games, with cars being able to climb nearly vertically so you don't have to go get a new one, or effortlessly knocking over wooden telephone poles and stone walls. In Ghost recon, the operators have a tendency to fall into "joss whedon" dialog, with the guy saying "shitballs" sometimes. Gunfire sounds like literal paintball guns, I've used battery powered nailguns louder than the guns in Ubisoft games. It's all so generic and easy to digest that it feels like you aren't even digesting anything at all, shit out a ducks ass kinda slop

Black Flag was the first to introduce purchasable IGC, alongside mandatory statted combat in the form of naval battles. Every previous game, and also Unity, can be completed with no upgrades if you want only the story content Unity was hated for its bugs, its broken netcode, and its awful framerate. In recent years fans have returned to run it on more powerful hardware to find a very dissonant experience that sometimes breaks apart in your hands and sometimes feels exactly like what an Assassin was always meant to be. If you really want to understand public sentiment, you have to look in different places besides just metacritic, because fanbases splinter into factions that understand different parts of their favorite franchise differently when it changes so much. If you look in the comments section of someone like Swifty Unknown, you'll find a very different story Wildlands has no less than 11 different biomes. Because you can do most sequences in any order, any time you get bored of one biome, you can just switch to a different one Okay... this one's a lot heavier: I think you *want* to hate Far Cry 6. Because I could turn almost every single one of your criticisms back around on the exact game you used to contrast with it: The way Jason topples Vaas' entire smuggling operation instead of confronting him directly. The way Jason prioritizes getting to Vaas over finding his friends. The way Grant has no character development before being used as a plot device that must support the weight of the entire game. The way Jason has perfect FPS handling and brutal, efficient animations as soon as you leave the scripted mission that shows him struggling to fight. Does this make it a bad game? No, I think Far Cry 3 is quite exceptional. But it struggles from the same very difficult issues that many games share in order to support their gameplay. I think if you could get past the mental block that every Ubisoft game must follow the same downward trend that supports your narrative, you'd find a very intriguing tale of found family and corruption, and see the industry for the nuanced, complicated field that it is. That is, when the characters aren't joking around in the face of violent oppression and the AI aren't running around like headless chickens waiting for you to kill them, issues I and many other players have with the game that you failed to mention Connect's currency actually cannot be bought. It can only be earned they completing challenges in any Ubisoft game. Once you complete every challenge for a given game, you'll have to buy another to get more tokens. Many items also come free with a license for another game. This exists to encourage brand loyalty since it isn't actually capable of accepting payment. Once you have one Ubisoft game, it does everything in its power to get you to buy another one

Unity is much better than what people say of it. The bugs are a problem, but imagine the irony when I encountered more bugs in Black Flag than Unity. Unity is literally the last AC game that plays like an Assassins Creed game. The combat, parkour and environment, everything let us experience the assassin's fantasy. The only issue with the game was the story which went downhill from the middle and the horrible console launch experience, which is fine when you realise, it was graphically way ahead of its time and puts a lot of today's aaa games to shame. The environment is actually the one of the best in the series. A dense city showcasing the various kinds of economic prosperity, while there is the French Revolution going on. Plus you could enter most of the houses, the rich npcs and interactions. Perfect example of a medium size world, but very rich. The last game which was also marketed with said Assassin's Creed formula. The last AC game which had me hooked just by its virtue of its gameplay, which is a big plus. I continued to play AC Unity because I was living the Assassins Creed dream. I felt like a silent deadly badass. Origins is a good game, but not an AC game in its core. I would have been okay with it if they called it a different game. But at least you play as an Assassin in it. The new games don't count at AC games at all. They are just different games entirely and Ubisoft just slapped the AC name on them to cash on the brand.

I also don't know about whatever this video is referring to when it says Unity "have crates requiring real money to unlock" because I've been playing the game on and off since release and don't remember such a thing ever existed. Helix credits exists yes, but there's no lootbox or any egregious bs mtx in it unlike the later games. Don't really appreciate the video's attitude towards Unity in general, saying Odyssey is "the Unity of the new Assassin's Creed" is downplaying what Unity is trying to do. Odyssey is just more of the same, the most average cookie cutter game that they could made after Origins. Unity on the other hand was ambitious, for one it was nothing like the previous games mechanically and in presentation, it's made on a new "improved" engine that lets thousands of crowds make the world more immersive, it tries to revolutionize the core AC gameplay without making it something that isn't 'Assassin's Creed'. While I won't give too much merit for a failed attempt and admit the game is above average at best, it is fundamentally the exact opposite from Odyssey.

@shira_yone
@shira_yone Жыл бұрын
@@memecliparchives2254 for the story, sure. But mechanically it's one of the game with the most substance in it; quick access to 2 of your tools is a massive game changer, classic stealth isn't an afterthought for once in the series, for social stealth you get the massive crowds along with a few social stealth skills (such as disguise and coin throw to start picking coins with a small crowd), combat isn't just the usual "press counter button to win", and lastly the evolutionary parkour down for the sick moves, not having to just go down grabbing ledges risking jumping to your death or missing a ledge. The real problem of Unity is execution and lack of polish. All the ideas it presents sounds amazing *_if_* (big if right here) it all works out (including the story), but what happened is that they blue balled you in the story while having the gall to recognize that they half assed the story pass the tutorial section in the story itself. Arno _could_ have piece information in clever ways to find his targets and make the game as some sort of detective story, but noooooooo he just got magic memory vision for stabbing someone, god that's still ridiculous in a game about magic mind controlling balls. Of course, the gameplay suffer from the obvious all encompassing jank/bug that permeates through every aspect. Once again on paper this could've been the best Assassin's Creed game ever made, if all the mechanics I listed up there just works as intended that is. Although even after acknowledging all it's flaws and issues, I can't help finding this game to be the most fun and engaging Assassin's Creed game that I've ever played (although the old AC pvp multiplayer is also great). PS: I forgot to mention the customization is frikin great as well.

What's currently annoying me about Ubisoft is that they've started the industry thinking that customers will be happy to pay for games as a service, rather than a product. They'll "sell" you a game that's been coded specifically to connect to a server every time you load it up, and then eventually decide that the game isn't making them enough money anymore, so turn off the server. Buried in the licence agreement (That you have to have already paid for the game to actually read) is a little clause saying that they reserve the right to kill off any of their games by disconnecting it's server, so they're completely within their rights to do this, but it still means you're paying the same sort of money to "Rent" a game until THEY decide you've had it long enough as you would have to buy the rights to play it forever not many years before. I myself can't afford to keep cutting edge in PC hardware, so I tend to buy games that'll run on whatever 5 to 7 years out of date hardware my current games PC is running. I still play games like the original half life, HL2, Portal, Far Cry 1 and 3, and so on, so if a developer decided that after 10 years a game needs to be removed, this means that although I may have only paid 2/3 of the original release price, I'm only getting a couple years of enjoyment out of the software that others have had for 4 or 5 times that.

Loved the video and agree with pretty much everything. I would just say this, though, as a biased Assassins Creed fanboy for over a decade now. AC 3 is solid with AMAZING characters. Haytham and the whole Kenway story is fascinating and fun to explore alongside Black Flag. Unity had so much potential but Ubisoft ruined it and what it could’ve been by rushing the release. We don’t talk about syndicate. Origins is really good, but I honestly really enjoyed Odyssey too. I’ve played the heck out of it and love the setting and Kassandra/Alexios did have a good amount of thought put into. I’ve put more time into it than Origins, but I adore the setting of Odyssey which would explain why. Valhalla I’m not a big fan of. Essentially, I do believe odyssey and valhalla are good games, but it’s ridiculous Ubisoft puts Assassins Creed in the title. Only until the very end of odyssey are assassins and templars basically mentioned, and I’m not sure about valhalla because I’m yet to finish it. I do believe they’re solid games, though, but Ubisoft need to step the series back and tie it back to the modern day plot or at least involve templars/assassins again, or just drop the name and take their time to make a good RPG game (but that would mean losing the AC title cash cow and ubi won’t do that…) TL;DR I have too much hope for Ubisoft, I’m high off copium, and think the (newer) AC games get a bitttt too much flak since they’re still fun games.

AC2 was great. I was looking forward to AC3, but aside from a cool plot twist with Templar/Assassin swap in the beginning, the story and execution felt underwhelming. For example, Connor's training and growing up, as well as him actually becoming good at assassin's skills, DOES NOT EVEN GET A MONTAGE. Horizon: Zero Dawn later showed how to do this right, meanwhile in AC3 you just fade to black, and then you are told that our guy is grown up, has all the assassin skills, and during the skipped time he did... what, exactly? Being in assassin in AC3 doesn't even feel cool. Normal characters and townsfolk don't react to your outfit or skills. Overall, the whole thing felt uninspired and driven by numbers, from writing and directing perspective. Music was great; Connor's assassin outfit design is still my favorite in the whole series.

The misuse of mediocracy rather than mediocrity made me put this video off. Video essayists who think they are very clever but make basic English mistakes are a scurge upon this Earth.

I think Gus Fring was in the game way more than Pagan Min was, from memory Pagan was in it at the start and the end, only occasionally coming on over the radio during the game. Where as Fring appeared quite often establishing the relationship between himself and his son.

Origin is pretty average as well. Very forgettable character and motivations. Story-wise can't compete with The Witcher 3.

Still better than Rogue, Unity, Syndicate and Odyssey combined. And if were making comparisons to the Witcher 3, then Horizon Zero Dawn doesn't live up to it as well.

Far cry 5 is lot better than people make it to be. there was some really good side missions. setup of Montana was accurate tho it was bland compared to Rook island, Himalayan but that's just reality. Each member of the seed family had compelling backstory. FC3 has an "one in a million" story from character development perspective but i don't think development is a mandatory avenue of story telling. it helps to grow attachment with characters but it's really not a "must have". Not all good games take that route. FC5 also had good open world elements, those prepper stashes were good puzzles. biggest flaw imo was the difficulty curve. other than that i think FC5 is very enjoyable. now i got a million games to pick from but if i hadn't, i would replay it multiple times like i did with FC3

I had a similar experience with Walking Dead as you, only my patience with the repetitive storylines ran out around season 4 (I think when they found the farm) and the characters and storylines were already showing a pattern of becoming formulaic and dry. I know I missed out on the whole Negan plot, but honestly by that point, there is literally 0% chance that I could have cared about the characters. On a similar note I played a lot of the early Ubisoft franchise entries (Far Cry 3/Blood Dragon/4, Assassins Creed 2/3/4, Watch Dogs) and finished most of them because even though they started getting formulaic they still had little things that helped them to remain interesting to me, (apart from AC3 with the ridiculous animal skinning requirement, which I don't 100% remember the details of, but I remember I HATED it 😂) and recently because they were on sale, I have played AC Valhalla, Watch Dogs Legion and Far Cry 5 and been massively underwhelmed once I had gotten past the initial selling point of each of the games because of the repetitiveness of the world and how you interact with it. All that coming from somebody who would have 100% finished Breath of the Wild if it wasn't for the 900 korok seeds, and who comfortably spent 200+ hours because the exploration in the world almost always led to something interesting, and who is also currently playing through Elden Ring but hasn't left the starting area after multiple hours because again, the exploration almost always leads to something/somebody interesting, which has justified the time spent looking for them. I hope that Ubisoft can come up with some new ideas moving forwards, because the first couple of entries of their big franchises were fun and actually made you want to get through the world to see what they had hidden away, or the storylines and characters were so interesting that you wanted to play through to their conclusion, whereas the current entries are nothing but reskins, just with a big old coat of next-gen looking paint, and mostly dry characters who have no interesting plots surrounding them. Anyway, I hadn't seen your channel before today but you have got my subscription and I'm going to go through your older videos 👍

21:10 It's not like Pagan Min had much screentime either honestly. Most of the conversations you had with him were via radio and there weren't that many of them either.

You tryna say Uncharted is a bad series? Uncharted is miles ahead of Far Cry and AC not only storywise but also gameplay wise. The games feel alive, have good voice acting and an actual ibteresting story. All AC have is trailing missions.

@@mjl11 Uncharted is mediocre because its gameplay is mediocre. Seriously. Naughty Dog has been working on third person shooters for over a decade and still can't get it right. TLOU2 is also proof of this. Maybe if they'd stop focusing so much on how their cutscenes look, maybe they'd make a decent third person shooter. Regardless, I was not talking about Uncharted. I was talking about games like Spiderman, Ghost of Tsushima, and Horizon Zero Dawn/Forbidden West.

Ac 4 is probably the most fun I’ve had in assassins creed, in fact, the specific moment for me that i love was when i just completed an assasin contract by just running in and killing the dude with no stealth, and i got chased by like 20 dudes, constantly alerting other guards so in the end i got chased by like 30 guards, like its scooby doo or something.

You forgot Assassin's Creed Rogue. It was Black Flag, except you were playing a Templar, which was a nice change. It also ties into AC Unity. Also I quite liked Odyssey. They made modern day story matter again, and it was heavily focused on the ISU.

So I was not a fan of AC while it was coming out, but picked up syndicate and black flag in a steam sale and loved both of them. Syndicate was a ton of fun with the gang system. Sure it felt bloated with so many side quests and the world was too big, but overall I was a fan

I wholeheartedly agree with your thoughts. They seem to be trying to leach the outstanding games and lose sight of what made them good in the first place. I think they need to take a step back and make a completely new and original game and stop focusing on only the profits. Even if the game wasn't the best, having something new and refreshing would most likely bring hope back to the fans. And in the process, bring in more sales anyways? 🤷‍♂ btw love the videos, and keep up the good work!
